mother f&*&%$^&

got my fender and tank back from paint an immediately dropped my fender. chipped it up pretty bad and it needs repainting. but it is going to have to wait. this is why i usually just leave stuff metal or primer....then i dont have to be completely pissed when this happens...

few more loose ends

rear fender is off a bit

my buddy russell pulled it out of the shop for the first time

it cranks and runs but kills itself after 3 seconds so i got to get that figured out. with all the wires gone it might be easier said than done.

That looks killer, I love the stance and the frame you killed it.

nope, i am really starting to get irritated. i am about to have to change me thread name to non-efi build and change it to carb because i am beyond stumped. there is something in the wiring that i did wrong to tell the ecm that something is not right and kills the bike. bad part is every neighbor i have has been riding by my house today on their bikes.....which makes me really mad because i just want to ride my bike. i ran a password reset twice to see if that was the problem and it is not. there a few things that can cause the bike to to this. maybe the ecm is still sending a signal to the tsm and not getting the signal back so it kills the bike....

Have you tried xlforum? Cosmo Kramer over there is pretty slick with all the EFI wiring.

haha, yes we are messaging back and forth. he is a genuis...i would have never taken this on w/o his diagrams etc. there is two things it can be. either i did not correctly jump the starter relay to the ground so that the ecm can work without the tsm, or i am not doing the password re-learn correctly....

just got my efi build done. i didn't have the balls to cut anything out of the equation as far as wiring goes, i just shortedned or lenghtened the wires to get them to where i needed them to be and tried to hide it all the best i could. the good news is that you can say fuck it and switch over to a carb. knowing what that wiring harness looks like after fucking with it for a solid week, that (to me, the man with no balls) seems like the option that would not lead to your head actually exploding.
good luck. you bike looks sick.

yeah but i am determined to get it done. i have thought about carb over and over but it is pretty expensive and it seems to me to be the easy way out. i might take it eventually but now i am going to try and make this work...gonna mess with it tonight and try it again. no one else has even taken as much as i have off an efi harness. i narrowed it down even futher than cosmo kramer on xlforum.net did and his was suppose to be as bare as it gets. but if i can get it running i plan to mark down colors etc and where they connect and make a wiring diagram for everyone.....i told my self when i started i was not going to do it halfway....i wanted it barebones....why go through all the work and still have all that ugly bull on there. i just did not have anywhere to hide all that stuff. the drop seat kills my space for crap.

Hang in there bud! You have way too nice a bike there to give up now and I like the fact that you stuck to your guns on the efi. Would be a shame to see you go with a carb now, but it'd look better beating the shit outta the pavement with a carb than sitting next to them weights with the efi setup! Do what it takes to ge it going that's all that really matters.

i have done everything i know to do. i am about 90% that the ecm needs a password re-learn and all the steps i have found to do it on the net have not worked. so i made an appt to take it to the stealership. i have a buddy who works there and is going to hook it up to the cpu and get all the codes....it will show alot, like no speedo, no tsm, etc...but those dont matter, the one i am looking for is like p009 which means password relearn. if this is the case, he can do it from the cpu program they use. i am crossing my fingers. since my buddy works there they are only gonna charge me $35. if it gets the bike running it is worth it...

sucky part is they cant get it in for a week. on the other hand, i couldnt ride it if it was running anyway because i had a vasectomy a few days ago and prob wouldnt feel good on my sack

way to go on being responsible with the snip snip.

This is the kind of thing that makes me hesitant to chop my bike. I dont have much spare time so first off the project would already take me a year or more but if I were to run into the sort of problems youre having more than likely the bike would just stay in pieces in the garage and Id cry a little every time I walked by it.

Don't stress to much broseph. With all the stuff you have done to that bike since starting, your brain is fried so your over thinking everything. I did the same thing to my tail light after disassembling my bike for powdercoat. Got the new tank on, lines hooked up, new fender, chopped the harness to next to nothing (carbed), routed the wiring into the frame and couldn't get my tail light to function. My tail light! Then I stepped back for a day and figured out the grounds where in the light. Bang!
Its always something stupid bro. Your doing the smartest thing. Putting another set of eyes and equipment on it. I got faith my man. I'm sick of riding by myself anyway.

you cant be like that man. the reason i am doing it is because i had everyone told me i couldnt. i even had a harley guy told me a bike could not run without the TSM. so when i prove him wrong (because i know people that run w/o them) i am going to ride up to the dealership and rub it in his face. he bet me $100 so im gonna collect. i could not do it myself, i have a great bunch of friends and could not do it w/o them for sure
