So i snagged this frankenstein for 185. its def in rough shape. the guy said it was a 81 650, but im pretty sure its a 79 kz 650 B3.







Any work that was done on this bike was done completely fucked. wiring is worse than any mess of a beehive from a stock bike. The batt box is welded to the bottom of a swing arm, the welds look like a 4 year old did it with a glue gun. And the PO went fucking WILD with black spray paint. It looks like he sprayed half the bike while everything was still assembled. Spray over the guages, over the pod filters. I dont understand how it didnt cross his mind that painting the filters would clog them. The tank is some corroding plastic dirt bike tank, and the seat is a wrapped piece of wood.

Good part, is the engine looks good and it turns over and seems to have compression. Its allready got a 4-1 and stretched quite a bit. I def have my work cut out for me. But it should be fun as soon as I get my other kz650 going which shouldnt be too long now. Just took a chance with the motor but for only 185 i thought it was worth the risk. Just thought Id show you guys what I scooped up

Damn the previous owner fucked that thing up. Can't beat 185 bucks though if the engines good. Post some pics when you start tearin it apart. Cant wait to see how you bring that thing back from the dead.

I thought the 79s had spoke wheels and judging by the po's ability he would not have put new wheels on.

looks like you will have alot of fun fixing his fuck ups. My brother and I picked up a 78 and a 79 kz650 for 500 bucks just a bit ago. Gotta go pick them up in VA but they will soon get reworked too. Good luck

That gas tank looks a fiberglass tank for a Champion-frame flattrack bike. Don't throw that out.

haha. thanks guys. I told you this beast was fucked.
I really do dig that tank , but its fucked as well. looks like a lot of corrosion on the bottom i dont know if there is anyway to repair that. and the cap is cross threaded on there LAMF.

The motor and parts are worth more then you paid, Looks like he had a decent idea and got lazy. The stretch loks a little to much, but I think its a cool bike for what you paid. You can make it look sick with fucking with the shit on there.

yeah i really dig what the po was TRYING to go for. its just a really long low bike. I even like that tiny tank on there and im usually not a big bike, tiny tank kind of guy. but im really stoked on it for what I paid. Should be fun.
