If you weren't limited to just the chop cult world Debrix.com has some internal throttles for cheap.

http://www.debrix.com/Internal-Throt...36-0575-vt.htm

and

http://www.debrix.com/Radii-Internal...36-0570-vt.htm

The second link says for use with "billet grips" but I'm sure you could find a way around that, given the fact the throttle is only $55!

Jockey shift it shall be.

Further re: the Spartan frame, George emailed me with some other details regarding my plans for a 5-speed and an Evo...

A couple more frame detail that may help avoid issues. I believe top motor mount is for a shovel, there shouldn't be clearance issue with the evo but the stock mounts won't work, so plan on making a top motor mount. AND one more thing,
The frame is set up for a 4 speed trans, if you run a 5 or 6 speed you will need to use an adaptor plate, relocate the 5th mount forward about a 1/2", and probably take a little material out of the seat post to clear the trans lid.
Let me know if can help.

G

To Spartan George I say this:

Brother, you have already helped more than you know. Thanks for the tips. Duane and I are taking the frame to Hippy Killer 10/10/09 to check fitment on the 5-speed trans and the Evo motor. We'll mark everything and I'll clearance it personally. My TIG skills have improved tremendously, and I want to do as much fab work as possible in this motherscratcher. Thanks for all the help!

I'll post photos tomorrow night from our day at HKG...

DONE DEAL:

Just PP'ed cashbux to Atomic Trent for a pair of old-school 9-spoke Sportster front wheels (2.85" x 19")

Gonna adapt the LHD sproter to the wheel by drilling and tapping the holes to accept 7/16" recessed Allen cap bolts. Did it on my first three bikes with H-D alloy hubs no problem.

Billdozer has spoken, and the word was "mirror polished alloy."

That's what the finish on my F/R Sporty mags shall be.

It's going to be trick.

HIPPY KILLER FITMENT SATURDAY:

Good news, Spartan George… an Evo and 5-speed tranny fits in this frame like a glove. George himself was worried a modern powerplant and trans might require clearance beneath the backbone and behind the seat tube, but no such headaches will be forthcoming. Kutty, Duane and I laid the mill and the gear box into the frame at HKG this afternoon and everything is snug as a bug.

Awesome!

Kutty is dismantling the motor and tranny and I will take all covers, cases, rocker boxes, etc, to Geronimo Polishing in Lake Elsinore for the boogie wax treatment.

Glorious.

In completely unrelated news, Wes Drelleshak fiddled with the stripped plug hole on my CB450 street tracker this morning and after installing a new set of plugs she started right up.

Rocket Ship.

You were right, Gepetto--the CB450 is a blast to ride.

Duane, myself and this guy:

are heading to Hell's kitchen after the morning game for nachos and bro downs with the Inland Empire chaps batallion. Alex is the dude who helped me get the CB450 running the first time pre-carbs and electronics, and he is one of Lake Elsinore's finest.

We're pulling out of DB's house 1pm Sunday, and if you live in the IE you're invited.

Shady shadetree mechanical stuff, indeed!

KB, I'm so tickled to finally have this thing dialed in you can't believe it. the $750 in carbs and electronic ignition really brought this crazy thing around. It is fast and revvy!

Can't wait to take your SR and my CB out for a silly retro Jap bike session.

Shit Magoo, the honda is barely done and you are starting over, You are the one that has a sickness! Dan's fenders are killer, got one for my bike after I did some freestyle motor cross shit and broke the old one off. And if Bill doesn't want to ride it for you, let a brother know.

What year narrowglide trees? Are both top and bottom trees aluminun, or is the lower tree steel? I'm looking for alloy only. What diameter are the fork legs: 39 or 41mm OD?

Is your Crane Hi-4 complete (does it include coil, plug wire kit, etc)?

Pls advise, and thanks!

funny story on this perm...

my friend TheLaura is in barber school, and last week she needed a perm model for finals.

I've done the perm thing before (it's just hair), so I said, "Sure!"

Now I look like a tubby dad from The Brady Bunch, only more gay...

Thanks for the fro, VonMonster.

Now, back to the motorcycle…
