Rouser Rob is a goddamned genius.

Chuck up some sliders and spit out a springer!?

Fuckin' genius!

Thanks, Rob.

Fork guts are on order. Tomorrow I'll call Warren Jr. about the custom trees.

Maybe this bastard will be a roller before November!

OFF TO THE POLISHERS:

Rec'd my 19" wheels from Trent Schara and DB last week. Should be getting my shaved fork sliders from Rouser Rob and my transmission from Kutty next week. You know what that means:

Off to Geronimo in Lake Elsinore, CA, for polishing.

Once the wheels are polished I'll mount the Firestones, replace the bearings, install the forks and I'll have a roller.

Of course, I've still got to buy axles, make spacers, and assemble my forks.

Damn—this shit takes time, doesn't it?

PHotos to follow asap...

What axles do you need man?

Your welcome to anything I have in the take off pile, unless you need something "odd". Lemme know.

TECH Q&A:

Here's what I'm trying to do:

1) Bore 41mm ID holes on 39mm late model alloy Sportster triple trees. EASY. Leoj on CC is helping me do this.

2) remove the stock '89 FXST fork leg cap and oil filler bolts and replace them with something that resembles the stock oil filler bolts on late model Sportster 39mm forks (see drawing below):

Is this possible? Does such a thing as the bolt I've described on this illustration exist?

I am pursuing this solution because I want to be able to slide my 41mm FXST legs up or down in the Sportster trees so I can fine tune my ride height.

Warren Jr. has responded to my request for custom Narrowglide trees with my proposed 41mm OD pinch bolt design top and bottom, and if he can make these trees I want to cap my fork legs as cleanly as possible.

OK gentlemen: any ideas or solutions?

Thanks!

McGoo

Hey Nicko, I need a 3/4" OD standard narrowglide front axle with all associated hardware, and I need a 3/4" rear axle of the standard nut and bolt variety. I'll post an inch dimension from outside to outside axle plate on this thread MOnday 10/27/09. Thanks for the offer!

Here is the best of the axles man....

The part that sticks out with the alignment hole is pretty clean and unmolested. I took two pictures with a tape next to it, so you can confirm it will do the job. Lemme know if you want it and where to send it....

Hey Kim,

Kutty did exactly the same thing to the 39mm OD sporty forks on my street tracker (and on the Sinner's Prayer bike in the accompanying photos you sent), but my legs are 41mm OD.

H-D FX forks of the 41mm OD variety have the silly dog dick oil filler heck on them I tried to approximate in my drawing. As you may know, they bottom out in the top tree from the underside of the tree, and the big chrome bolt on the top holds them tight in the top tree (and closes the oil filler cap.)

I'm in a pickle that might demand some serious fab work, but I'm committed... the sporty trees I picked up at yesterday's LB swap are nice, and I started cleaning them up this evening.

Photos pending...
