09 Iron Drop Seat project

I just found this site today and figured I would share my build and see what you guys think. This is my first bike that I have owned and I bought it about a year ago. I started out just doing some minor mods like a solo seat, drag bars, chopped fender, struts, and exhaust. I have never been able to leave stuff alone so I got a carried away this winter and this is what I have ended up with. Im pretty far along with the build now but I will post a bunch of pics just to share the build. And before I got ask a million times why did you do this to an 2009 I will go ahead and answer by saying.....I wasn't planning on go this far with it, but like I said I have never been able to leave stuff alone. Hope you guys enjoy.

This was the day I bought it.

Two weeks after I got it. I was planning on stopping here, but as you will see I did not.

Pulled it all apart and ordered a hardtail from Bitter End Choppers and mocked it up. Don't like to bash company's but the hardtail from them was a nightmare. You will see.
[IMG][/IMG]

This was showing that the axle was level. Hardtail was was aligned and clamped.[IMG][/IMG]
This shows how badly twisted the hardtail was. Took about 12 hours to straighten the damn thing.

Made some brackets to move my foot controls down and forward about two inches. Not into forward controls and the mid controls were too high for the drop seat. I have since made some different ones that I like better but they are in the same position I just don't have pictures of them yet.

Took it all back apart and primed the frame.
[IMG][/IMG]

Painted the frame and got the motor back in. (Hard to do by yourself when your worried about scratching new paint)
[IMG][/IMG]

Painted all the gloss black stuff flat black.

This is where I left off Sunday. Had to extend the clutch because I moved the controls. Don't worry I will make it look better.

Hope you guys enjoy. I tell you when you play catch up and post your build in a few minutes it makes you think you have worked as hard as you think you have. If you guys got any question about something I have left out or something that you see just let me know.

I like the white frame. I couldn't ever do it because it would only be clean and white for a couple days.

Nice ride man. My brother was wanting to do a drop seat and we were kinda pondering how to do it on a newer sporty. Now we know. Thanks

Very, very nice build man. Refreshing to see something different here with a late model sporty.

Looks great man. I would be terrified of having a white frame simply bc it'd be gray, then black in no time! Especially flat white.

Are you concerned about the seat hitting the fender? Idk how springy the leaf setup is... I would've mounted the leaf on the backbone, about an inch up from where the tail meets it.

No not really. In some pics it looks lower than what it really is. If I only had one leaf then it would hit but with two leafs its good. I also made it where I can adjust the rear height with the front spacer under the leaf. ( That small piece of metal actually raises the rear about 1/2")
