Thanks for the kind words. I really liked this bike, had it for about 4 years as I remember it. It started life as a OEM 61" EL with small port heads. Ended up as an 88" motor, large port FL heads, long body SU carb. I don't remember what I put in for a cam but it ran sweet and made a lot more power than the bike needed - was a handful to ride. Suicide clutch, jockey shift, no front brake, AEE springer. Went well in a straight line, got exciting real fast in the curves and city traffic, but I was young (21) and didn't much care, it was a head-turner (especially with my OL on the back.)

Ended up trading it for a 1963 Panhead. I was in the Navy in San Diego and my bike was my transportation. I lived in Lemon Grove and worked at the submarine base at the end of Point Loma so it was a fairly long commute every day. The 63 had rear suspension, foot shift, hand clutch, front brake (such as it was) and was a whole lot better as a daily rider. I've never regretted the trade, the Panhead met my needs at the time. But I would love to have that 38 in my garage today...

Before. 1980 FLH barn find. Didn't run, bunch of sub-par work.

After. Still a bunch of sub-par work. Runs.

First round last year. The bike is apart again. Going to go with silverflake and chop the rear fender somewhat diffrent. And some more wrinkle black powdercoat. New seat + cam and pulley cover has been chopped...
