1996 Springer

About a year ago when I bought it.

As of now, still a work in progress and a LONG way to go. Just yanking all the extra dumb shit off. Added a set of Biltwell Keystone bars.

I know it's not a shovel, had mine, worked on it all the time. Took road trips 70 on highways and shit started to fall off after an hour.
I use gobs of Red Loctite, for which I have an undying, morbid, fetishistic love, (I have never had stripped fastener threads or heads be they small or large due to its use. I don't overtorque fasteners), all-metal locknuts, and lock washers everywhere I can fit them and I upgrade when practical whenever I replace stock hardware.

I figure they paint fire trucks red because a firehose is the best way to apply Loctite.

What doesn't get red threadlocker gets anti-seized since corrosion, especially between steel and aluminum, DOES strip fasteners and I despise removing a bolt with an "aluminum heli-coil" wrapped around it. Anti-seize is your friend when you take things apart many years later.

You can get locktabs for your exhaust pipes or drill the fasteners for aircraft safety wire. I haven't bothered as locknuts work for me.

I do this on everything I own, Shovels, Evos, trucks, my riding mower, whatever. It's paid off for decades. I'm lazy and revile anything that causes extra work.

BTW safety wire is used in aviation because it's highly reliable and a proper job looks pretty (safety wire doesn't rust) so if you want to explore that have at it.

I've seen that bike around. Didn't Travis A.K.A. "Tuki" do the molding and gold leaf? Sweet ride for sure man.
