One of the nice things about a FF is that the ladies can't tell how ugly or old you are until you take it off..ask anybody who rides a sports bike.

Biltwell Gringo

I picked up a new Gringo helmet today and it's beyond perfect. I started to order one on line, and decided to go pick it up instead since I was working in Temecula. Glad I did that for a few reasons
  1. Got hooked up with ice cream- thanks Bill!
  2. Changed my mind on the color- thought I wanted matte black, but went with gloss black. Nice!
  3. Even after measuring my head twice, indicating I need an XL per the sizing chart, it was in fact too big for my 23" dome. I went with the Large and it's perfect.

Just a quick overview of this helmet- the looks are perfect- slightly bigger than a vintage 3/4 helmet, but roughly the same size as my 70's Arthur Fulmer full face. IMHO, not as cheezy/cliche as a glitter (ok, metalflake) helmet, but doesn't look out of place whether I'm on my Scrambler, my Pre-unit, or on my Pan. I wore it on a short ride around town today and surprisingly, it's less noisy than any other helmet I've had. Not that it matters, but it was noticable. Also, the helmet just has an overall high quality feel that I've never seen in any vintage or modern 'retro' style helmet. The diamond-pleat liner is pretty bitchin too. A nice detail is that the strap has a snap at the end to keep it from bitchslapping your carotid artery at freeway speeds.

Like I said, I've only had it a day, but it's already my favorite helmet. Get em while you still can. Good job on these helmets Biltwell!

Ha, glad you like it lurk. You can thank Mcgoo for the ice cream, I wouldn't have shared that shit with anyone even if they did just buy a helmet!

I was given an ultimatum, no Gringo till I take care of a couple things so as much as I wanted to swing by and grab one today I've got to keep the peace on the home front. Hopefully you'll have one I like left when I do make it. I just had to get the wife a new derby helmet after a bad hit last weekend and pay for my books for class so I'm behind the curve a bit.

Saweet, 5 snaps! Wish the Bonanza had 5 snaps. No biggie, wouldn't be the first time I added a couple. Patiently waiting for the mediums..

ok so ,,,,,I'm watching everyone on IG getting thier Gringos........and I want one and plan to get one...... But I'm not gonna wear it until fall or winter. I'll keep sporting my Gen2 thru the summer.

I'm in Texas , ya know , and summers are brutal.

My question is ....will there be more colors eventually?

I dont want to buy one and then the next week the megaflakes come out.......

We'll eventually grow the colors a bit but it won't be by a lot or immediately so I wouldn't sweat it. Don't count on a bunch of MegaFlakes on this model either.

I got to handle a Gringo for a few days a couple of weeks ago before we gave it away as a raffle at Psycho de Mayo Run 3 (Thx Bill, you're a king among men. Meaning to send you a thx, but things have been hectic!) here in Austin. Gringo is just awesome; love it! Size and weight felt good, plenty of padding on the inside and the syling, well you can see it for yourself.

Thing I was most stoked on is that they seem to run big. I wear a size 8&1/8 hat so it's hard to find a helmet to fit me. Some companies' XXL lids fit but others don't. I can't wear a Biltwell novlid and have always been bummed about it. The Gringo that I tried on was an XL and it nearly fit me which means that the XXL should be perfect! Super stoked to get one in the near future. This helmet is so rad that every time someone puts one on, "Ironman" should be playing in the background. The Sabbath song...not the movie.

Bill/McGoo: Other than "thank you", I only have 4 words for you...

"Rootbeer flake, chrome trim."

"Der, der der, don don. Deedle deedle deedle, der der, don don..."
