look what I found in my clutch!

Was standing fucking around with my buddy Billy chatting about joining his band and taking off the clutch side cover to polish it up at work and noticed a piece of wire hanging out between the clutch plates.... So I had to investigate because that is just WRONG!!!

I found a length of wire had gotten in there some how. Tore the clutch plate up something good! I looked in the book and it doesn't show anything like it in the blown up part view.

2012-08-06_22-27-40_229

in the photo you can see the wire and the damage it has done.

in the second photo you can see if you look close a small recess in the inner clutch cog. is this a keeper wire or something?? shows nothing in the parts breakdown and I've never seen anything of the sorts in a clutch assembly before. just asking for disaster to happen!

Any help here?

after looking at Mike's XS I see that there is a part of this nature. How can I get around sticking that part in my clutch?!!! That is the most retarded thing I've ever seen!

does anyone have the proper parts breakdown and assembly procedure for this type of clutch? it is a 1980.

I'm going to try and work on this intake from Slim. nicely made! Dude has crazy mig skills. I'm concerned only by how far back the carb mounts now in mock up. I will have to take the time to trim a lil' to bring things in just where I want 'em. Thanks a TON Slim!

If you haven't met the guy I would make a point of it if possible. SUPER nice guy.

Here is a bike with one of slim's intakes on it. Says it runs really well with lots of snap.

Cropped photo.

this one of my other scoots. Built it last year. Out blazing across town the other night!

If your intake has 2 different lenght for each cilynder... how are they goin' to deliver the same power at the same time, when you hit the throttle...?

On here somewhere is a thread on two into one intakes. Short answer for me is it's proven to work in many different forms. Is it top horsepower/peak performance race tested technology? dunno. But what I do know is if the engine runs good and makes good power and is snappy then it will work for what I have in mind.
I think having a 40mm cv carb hanging off one side is pretty trick and something different. Has it been done? Sure it has. Still working on the actual conceptual vision of this bike at this point!

and having a riot!
