Good point. But, this is one of those things you don't absolutely need to see the process as much as the finished piece. If it's not "How to" enough, just don't vote for it.

        You want a how-to? Here's your how-to:

Find suitable material, make a template from a manila folder, cut it out, trace, cut, file, sand or do what you have to do to get it to the shape desired. I cut mine on the band saw. One hint for ya'll: drill holes before cutting to shape so you can hold it better on a vise. I drilled mine on a mill but a drill press will work just as well. Bend a bracket (vise and hammer=poor man's brake) so it will bring the lever level and into position. There ya go.

That is sweet setup. I may have to give this a shot on mine. It won't look nearly as cool, but in the couple months I've had the push button set up I have burned my hand enough times to think this may be the ticket.

I've been working on getting this thing to pull easier as the first try resulted in a little extra effort than I anticipated. So this is try #2, and Lucky Tim has been running it for a week now. Results: easy pull, two-finger design provides better leverage, and best of all I'm starting to make some extras for those interested in keeping their manicured nails fresh.

just wondering on the friction that the brass gets on the AI, is there a bearing or a bushing between the 2 metals or does it just sit flat?

also with the movement back and forth ,does the screw back out or loosen up?

really cool design! ...just had me wondering is all?

To get the height on this to match up with athe button I put an aluminum spacer underneath. With the other ones I'm making I'll elongate the tab a bit so you won't need the spacer. The bracket is tapped and there is a jam nut on the bottom. Movement is 3/8" tops so I don't think it would warrant another bushing. I'm sure the bolt might wear over time but what doesn't?
