I will try to find an old pic of mine. I have to have an old 80s polaroid in a shoe box in the attic or something. It was a 73 vega GT wagon, with a V8, painted chevy competition orange.
Back then Hot Rod magazine sponsored the "Fastest Street Car Shootout" races. The cars had to have a functional interior, with passenger seat. They had to travel 20 miles on the street without overheating/breaking down. They had to be legally licenses/registered and insured. They had to roll on DOT tires and they had to have full exhaust or provisions for exhaust. This meant no open headers. You had to have mufflers, but you could pull them off, or you could use turnouts. stripped down "econoboxes" with V8s were the thing to have
