    CV carb enricher cables

I'm tired of breaking the plastic mounting sleeve on the enricher cable on my Sportster. Are there any better aftermarket alternatives? I've seen mixed reviews about mikuni cables working.

Don't know but more info will help:

What year is your bike and engine?
    Which model of Sportster?
    What carb is on there?
How about a pic of that problem?

Just for somewhere to start, I grabbed a parts image from Ronnie's for a 1995 standard 883:

If wrong model/year,follow link update info for correct model/year.
If buildin' old school choppers was easy, anyone could do it... ain't nobody said it's gonna be easy...

Mikuni #990-662-002. You must ADJUST this cable properly. It does not pull the enrichener plunger out quite as far as the Keihin cable, but it does work.

1988 883 with 1992 CV. I seem to overtightened them at the mounting point and break the threaded barrel.
See attached photo, cable is broken at the 9" mark of the tape.

          Stop overtighting them.
          Feel, Daniel San, feel.
I remove and replace those all the time,
Only ever broke one... Or two
All it needs is a snug to keep it in place, little more than finger tight.
Pay attention to how the cable is routed, don't want any side load on them.

Oh wow that’s a surprising placement. Seems like it would be tricky to get your fingers back there. I like the look over the black OEM but I always use a carb top relocation bracket and love how easy those are to use and access.

I picked up one of these cables, any tips for adjusting would be appreciated.

When installed on the bike, there needs to be a slight bit of play when the knob is pushed in. That will assure the plunger is on its seat. The adjustment will change slightly from the bench to the bike because the bend(s) in the housing will change the adjustment. You just have to mess with it a little.
