    Part Identification, Please

I bought a bunch of panhead parts from a guy. It was an all or nothing deal, and I really needed a few of the parts, so I bought the whole lot. I will be selling some of the parts off on here and the AMCA site, as well as the local Charlotte NC Craig's List.

Anyway, in the boxes was this thing here. I think it might be a gas filter, but I'm not sure. I looked in the Panhead Parts book I have, but didn't see it.

    Any ideas?

Gas strainer that bolts on the lnkert gas inlet. If I remember right the early and later have different thread on the linkert inlet. That one is later (1950?) because it has the later (on the side) gas line connection, instead of the early nipple and flare set up. Also the real early ones have a x knurling on the bottom instead of the straight. Has it got the screen inside?

They had strainers until I think it was 64 without looking at a book???????? They were used as long as the used the old style linkert and they worked great.... I know they didn't have them in 66 I'm not sure about 65.......

After thinking about it I believe it was when they went to the modern style petcock.....

Oh by the way I want to thank you for all you do to knock covid down..........

To me an asskisser is someone expecting something in return....... Not at all...........

Yeah, it does have a screen inside. Not bad shape. Thanks for your help.

I should have known since also included in the box was the Linkert bowl nut with the mount bolt on it.

There is a big cork washer that seals up the whole thing. Cant remember if it goes under the screen or over it. CRS

I'm with you. Two thin washers, one on either side of the screen. That's the only way it will seal up.

I will add that that filter is also a decent water trap.

Thank you all. Great info. I'll hang on to the part and look for the cork washers.

45 resto probably has the corks as I am sure others also. They also sell the adapter that screws on the side so you can run a rubber line.
