    S&S panhead rockers

I've been looking online but can't really find an answer for this particular thing.

On the panheads from s&s that have the shovel bolt pattern and they use on their P-series engines, apparantly panhead rockers can not be installed and you have to get this cradle of theirs for their roller rockers.
But the question is, are these just regular shovelhead roller rockers or something specific for these heads only?

As I said I've been searching for the answer, but not alot of info on it.

I'm trying to figure out if using their heads on a big bore motor I'm putting together makes sense or if I should go another route.
Btw, are STD still up and running?

Rocker arms are indeed their shovel style roller rockers. Shafts are unique to the pan head assembly.
"Nitrous Shovelhead" on the shovelhead forum is running what's left of STD. I don't know if he is producing any products.

The S&S P-Series heads uses the Evo type oiling to get oil up to the heads, in turn the Shovel rocker arms are special by being drilled for the oil path from the pushrods to the bushings etc.

Oem rocker arms are not drilled... Top end oiling on those are fed from the shafts ...

      About STD
Been a lot of talk about them coming back on line, but so far that's pretty much as far as it got.

I just got a set of V-T Panheads that are a perfect copy of the STD's ...

I will say that those cradles look alot more sturdy than on the exploded view in their dealer manual.

Then I suppose the lifters and all that will be evo stuff, right?
From what I’ve read about the velva touch stuff that doesn’t sound like a bad deal.

I was pretty set on using the s&s heads, but then had a little doubt after not finding alot of info on it.

Do you have any experience from the s&s heads Drag?

You could use Evo lifters & blocks .... That will get oil going to the top end ..

But with what the after/market has to offer I wouldn't go Evo ...

S&S makes up the Blocks that look close to what the Shovel/Pan's are ...
Their's uses a cam that is made like the Evo's, also the block angles are of the Evo design ...

BMO makes both type blocks... Using Dave's Shovel blocks, no need for a Evo cam, use any Shovel cam..

Jims also has a horse in the running for oil up the pushrods ..

Just to be able to help you better, I'd like to know what year motor yo're dealing with ...
(Doctor Know don't know it all.) ..
(That would get a name hung on the poor bastard)

              Thanks, appreciate it!
Well I ain’t got mich of a motor yet. Just a set of s&s generator cases. The 55-64 one.

Those are big bore and I’ll probably go for 93”. But might go for 96”. But all that is open as of now.

Yeah I bought a ‘63 that had the engine blow in the nineties and they put a s&s alternator shovel in it.
I stripped it down, plan is to sell that engine and take the bike back to a more original look, but with a bit more oomph.
So I guess s&s heads it will be then.
So now I can continue ordering parts. Just have to find someone willing to ship s&s parts overseas.

I will surely need further advice on this thing. Have only worked on alternator shovels so far.

                      Well why not! Thanks!

I am on the road for work right now and am using the down time to go over what I need and plan what to buy first and such.
I might even ask you to hone the cylinders for the pistons before shipping as well.

But I will be in touch in the coming weeks.

                      Thanks, Andri
