Phenolic Spacer

Has anyone ever made a carb spacer out of phenolic material. i see you can get it on flea bay cheap. I know you can get phenolic gaskets to help reduce heat to the carb but what about building the whole spacer out of phenolic material. 1'' of material has to stop heat better then 1/8''.

we throw those hard phenolic spacer in the trash along with the "O" ring behind the carb,
We have found many of the intake leaks are caused by that thin paper gasket leaking and the "O" ring causes the carb flange to warp,
So we use a 3/16" thick soft carb gasket/spacer that seals both sides of the connection and also blocks the heat from the carb.

Where can I get em. You put them between the carb and the spacer or between the spacer and the head. Or both.

You ditch the spacer, that's where the gasket goes.

I don't think you can get rid of the 1" thick cast alloy block that is used on the 1971 and later motors ether, I was talking about that hard plastic 3/16" thick heat spacer.
