Vagabond Run Sept 27-30 Florida & Georgia

Here's the deal, I've been saying for while that someone needs to do a ride that's a bit more then a weekend run. The kind of ride that separates the weekend warriors from the true believers.
You know who you are, you're the guy that talks about riding places further away then most people would drive, you're the one who's not afraid of your bike breaking down, because you know every nut and bolt like the back of your hand and if it does break down so what, you'll fix it. You're the guy who'd rather camp out on the side of the road than stay at some overpriced hotel, you're the guy who rides through the rain because you know the sun has to come out eventually. You're the guy who prefers the sound of your exhaust over the pop music crap playing at your local HOG watering hole.

If this sounds like you then we hope to see you in Sept.

Here are the details so far. (Final route is in the works and will be made available soon)

*The 1st annual Vagabond Run is going to be taking place Sept 27-30. Thurs to Sun

*We are working on the route, but we will be riding from Miami to the Ellijay Blue Ridge area of northern Georgia and back. There will be a stop in central Florida on the way up to pick up whomever wants to join us(most likely Tampa or Ocala).

*We will be camping every night so pack a tent.

*There is no chase truck, so make sure you shit runs tight and pack some tools.

*Rain or shine we ride, so pack accordingly

*There is no fee and no registration

*Anyone can come and there are no exclusions, just be ready to ride and don't be a tool.

*More info here and on the chopcult event page and also here on the blog http://greasemonkeygarage.blogspot.c...ept-27-30.html

Sounds good. Look forward to hearing some more info. See if we can't wrangle up some South FL boys that are down.

Working on it.

Working on getting the word out. Going to see about having some shirts and stickers made up and see about getting some more people involved.
Boston Mike (his shop built a wild ironhead for this years smokeout in NC) in Orlando says he probably has about 10 guys that are in.
Also looking into getting some swag for a give away. I myself will be donating some shop shirts and one of my Whiskey Tanks with built-in stainless flask.

Right on. I'm down to donate some stuff for the giveaway. I have a couple clothing lines and a custom shop down here in FTL. Get a hold of me and we'll put some stuff together.

The chicks are beat because my buddy Jose is the one wearing my shops' shirts and he always attracts the dirtiest bitches.

Update

The route is almost laid out and will be posted this week. I found a great campsite in the Chattahoochee forest just outside of Blue Ridge, the guy I spoke to seemed very laid back and assured me that they're very motorcycle friendly. you can check them out here Skeenah Creek

Friday night we'll grab a bite and some drinks at the Blue Ridge Brewery Pat the owner is a great guy and him and his buddies have an interesting arsenal of chopped up XS650's

I'm almost done with the Whiskey Tank I'm doing for the ride as a giveaway. I'm taking a bunch of pics and will do a write up/how to when it's done.

Also a few people have contacted me about helping out. What really needs to be done is to get the word out. Tell everyone and anyone you know about the run and get them excited about. If you sent me your number I'll call you up and see what we can do. Thanks and looking forward to riding with you guys.

Tank on my bike

Bottom cut and stainless tank fitted for final placement.

Vagabond Route

Day one
An early start and a mad dash on the Hwy to get out of FL. This is the hardest day but after a while the miles don't matter. No meeting spot yet but we'll be getting together at 6am and on the road at 7am. We all live in FL, it's long and it's flat and we're over it, lets get to Georgia. Looks like we'll be picking up some riders along the way, so we'll be making a stop in Ocala for any of you central Florida boys who want to join. We should be in ocala between noon and 1pm. Once we pick up our riders, we'll jump back on the road and make our way towards Bainbridge, Ga. They have a park that's open for camping 24/7, it's usually pretty private and works on an honor system. It's $14 and you leave it in the lock box or not, depends on how honorable you're feeling.

Day 2
from here on it's all back roads. We pass through quite a few nice small towns on our way to the mountains such as Plains, Warm Springs and Cartersville(home of the worlds 1st outdoor Coca-Cola sign) Once we get to the Skeenah Gap Campground we'll set up camp and then hit up the Blue Ridge Brewery for some beers and grub.

Day 3
We have a great ride right through the middle of the Chattahoochee Forest to the town of Helen and then make our way south passing through Madison, Eatonton along with a bunch of other small towns. We pass a few lakes and a river as well, so maybe we'll stop somewhere for a break and maybe a dip. We'll end up at the Kingsland GA KOA. I hate to stay here, but all the state parks require you to pay for the entire weekend, which is too expensive. you can put 2 tents on a KOA site so it's $12 per person.

Day 4
Wake up and get back home however you want. Hope you had fun and I look forward to next year. I'm thinking Alabama

Also, anybody who plans on coming and knows any points of interests along the way, shoot me a message, I'm open to input.

That looks like a pretty dope route. I don't know how familiar you are with the N. Ga area, but there are some pretty nice riding roads over towards the Delonaga area. Between 129, 60, and just south of the mapped route. Granted, most of those roads I would rather have a sportbike for. It gets pretty tight and twisty through there, but fun roads.

We're passing the word around over here. I'll message you over my number if you need a hand with anything.

Giveaway Tank is done

Bootlegger giveaway tank is done. In addition to holding gas this puppy holds about 16oz of whatever you choose to put in it. It is for show purposes only. (I usually show it off in parking lots and outside bars). You shouldn't put alcohol in it, but if you do, stay away from rum since it gums up. I suggest whiskey or vodka. If you're like me then this tank should pay for itself in a month since you won't need to buy drinks anymore.

If you'd like to buy one they run $450. If you have a different tank you want to use hit me up and we can work something out.

As for the Giant Gator, we could hit it up on the way home. It'll depend how we're doing on time.

Miami to Blue Ridge is a 1 day ride. Its only about 755 miles. Get on the road, and don't mess around at every roadside stop and Cafe Risque. Sunup to Sundown.

Could be a fun ride for sure.

we could do it in one day, but whats the point? The idea is to get together with like minded people, do some riding and have a good time along the way.

Meet up

Going to be heading out to Wood Tavern in miami's design district tomorrow thursday night, so if anyone wants to meet up, drink some beers, talk about the ride and just general fucking about swing by. I'll be wearing a "grease monkey" shirt.

Also, I keep seeing posts saying, "I hope this ride happens". I assure you it's happening. I got the time off from work, layed out the route and bought a new rear tire, so I don't care if everyone bails, I'll do it by myself if I have to. Rode to new new york solo before so I have no problem. so far though it looks like we have a good crew going and I'm hoping to pick up a few more as it gets closer. As always, get the word out and lets make this thing epic.

Confusion and pics

So evidently there was a little confusion about whether the meet up was yesterday or today. Well it was yesterday, whatever, short notice anyways. Since things got messed up we'll be doing it again next Thursday the 6th @ 9pm

So if you're going on the Vagabond Run or just looking for a good time, Wood Tavern Thursdays is the best bike night going on in Miami.

If we've never met, look for the guy with th Grease Monkey Garage shirt and the sportster that says "Dirty Slut" on the pipes.

As Always keep checking here, the chopcult event page and Grease Monkey Garage for updates.
