Sleeping while it smokes!!!

I was watching tv last night and done what most guys do fall a sleep. I woke up to MMA on tv watched a fight got to thinking about my chop. Then some sorta weird feeling came over me like it was stolen or something like that. I jumped up went an got the door opener it started to open. I thought WTF as smoke rolled out the garage. I ran out and start pulling wires of the bike. Its a real nice early 70's long bike I just finished re doing at last year. Smoke was rolling off the coil, voltage reg, out the points cover and the wires. I WAS BEING A CHEAP FUCKER AND BOUGHT A CHEAP EBAY WAR BIRD LIGHT. I dont wanna spend $3-500 on a tail light I can get one for $45. Well thats what shorted out and melted. So I guess the moral of the story is buy the good parts not the cheap over seas shit. Old bike dont like cheap shit their like a classy lady. You give them fine wine if you want that a$$.....

you may want to consider a circuit breaker or two and a fuseable link. a tailight short shouldnt have got that far.

Whoa! It must have been a really "cheapy"... some of the stuff that's re-popping today is spot on (the drag specialties rectangular cast light, wow, solid), but some of the shit (like those $16.00 catseye's) are pieces of shit from every way you look at it. $300-$500 is "chopper elite" crazy, nothing wrong with a good solid $50-$100 gem of a rear end. There's plenty available from the (plug) advertisers here. Stay the hell away from discount mail order catalogs...
