The stupid thing is I was so worried about getting the wife and kid home I didn't want to stop and I had a big bottle of fluid in the glove box that would have fixed the problem temporarily enough to make it normally. Meh hindsight being 20/20 and all I'm gonna toss a set of tools in the side cubby with some spare fluids duct tape etc in for that next just in case moment and with a truck that's 24 years old its bound to happen again sooner or later.

4x4s indeed are special though there is just a specific market for them to really be that useful or at least be used to their optimum level.
Though there is no problem with running them on the road for city driving, I think that you will be able to utilize it to the fullest once you bring it to the wild.
Not wild, wild with animals but for those who are adventure junkies, I think that a good spin on the desert would keep it running great.
