Opinions on Dyna 2000i Ignition.........

My rotor cup somehow worked loose and destroyed my Crane HI-4 in the process. So I'm ignition shopping. I really want to keep the bike single fire and not run mechanical advance. I saw this Dyna set-up, anybody have experience with it ?

I really liked the Dyna 2ki that I put on my bike until it shit the bed last weekend. No warning it just gave up the ghost. I only have about 700 miles on it. The module will not power up and all the wiring is spot on.
I'm going to call them tomorrow to see about warranty replacement.

Ok, thanks for the responses. Salty, I was thinking you had a different model but now I know. Tobism, that sux, sorry. Let us know if they come through on the warranty. The Crane had a setting for kickstart and has always been pretty easy on the leg so I was wondering if anyone has used one with a kicker.

Well mine is slightly different looking than the one in the ebay link. Thats the Ultima model thats made by Dynatek.

I've had many Dynatek ignitions. Never had a problem with any of them unless there was a wiring problem that messed them up. I have a Dyna 2000 module with the old single fire dual coils that I bought in 1993 and ran on my first Sporty installed on my '98 Dyna , (have about 200K on those parts). The 2Ki is a nice unit if it's installed correctly but the kickstart mode isn't as good as the HI-4 IMO, (haven't had much luck with them).
I know the H-4 is about $20-$30 more than the Dyna, (module only) but if I were you, I'd replace it with the HI-4, (less of a headache and your bike will run the same as before).

Thanks Punkrod, that's kinda what I was thinking. Man my bike kicks so easy with this set-up, I just hate to do anything to take a step back.

I had 2 of the Dyna 2000i units go bad in a span of 3 years, I finally said fuck it & switched to a magneto, no more problems.

As far as performance goes, the 2000i kicked ass, only down side is I hate being stranded in the
desert or some other remote area, which is what happened to me both times it took a shit!

I read a bunch of accounts of the Crane not taking the heat so I ordered the Dyna 2ki. Or Ultima or whatever it is. I think it's for a Ducati......not really. I know the rotor smacked the sensors on the back of the module but when I touched the sensor it literally crumbled to pieces. So I'm thinking it did weaken from the heat. Wish me luck. Oh and yeah I'd love a mag but damn the economy.!

I just thought I'd update my post on the 2Ki ignition, turns out I AM a dumbass. I had a pinched wire that I found before I sent the unit back and once I unpinched the wire I got a signal light out of the ignition module. Unfortunately the pinched wire drained my nice Shorai battery down so I have to get a new battery before I can run it again.
SO the unit did not fail on me, I failed!
