I like how the flake changes color from different angles and different light sources. Holographic flake from TCP global.

Actually, yeah. If you send me something I'll paint it, as long as you cover the cost of materials. I'm on unemployment, so I have plenty of time, but not plenty money. PM me if you want to do it.

Thanks, I owe the idea and alot of the work to my good friend Big J, who came up with the flake idea. I was going to do black with silver flake, with some pinstriping designs and maybe some lace or scales and stuff. But J reminded me that we're beginners and should keep it simple, so we went with just black base, flake, and clear, still have lots of clear left to do before it's done. After adding the big holographic flake it looked good, but we decided to also add some small flake, some "ghost blue", I think it matches well. The pics are from my iphone, which has a pretty good camera, but it doesn't pick up all the brilliance of the colors, not even half, you should see this stuff in the sun. Also it turns dark purple at night, looks rad under the light in my driveway. Can't wait to see it under the neon lights at night at my friend's tattoo shop.

Ever since I got this FXR 7 years ago, my first harley, I've been wanting to black it out and add some high T bars. Then that style became way too popular, don't get me wrong I love the look, well the bars are pretty goofy looking but they function awesome. So I decided to do my own thing and flake it out. I'm still running the 14" T bars because I paid good money for them several years ago, and I gotta use what I got. But I do believe a set of tall Zombie bars would be awesome on my bike. Bad back so comfort and function are #1, and tall bars and mids are the shit. Funny thing about the bars I'm running, got them from the dude that makes em for that show, before the show came out. He let me sit on his dyna and feel em out, I was hooked. Then he proceeded to show me how to split lanes on one wheel haha, dudes a nut. Part of me doesn't want to run them because soooo many motherfuckers are running them right now, but the other part of me is like, fuck that, I had em first.

Was the red tank just a black base then with the red flake over it?

Yeah, you can barely see the black paint, looks like it was painted red.

Here's the homemade "flakebusters" we made, a gravity feed and a vacuum feed.

Here's some pics of the tins after 14 more coats of clear coat, had to bury those big flakes.

I used 1500 and 2000 grit paper. I must have got lucky, this is my first paint job besides rattle canning a couple helmets, it came out better than I expected. Thanks for the advice from the cult.

I was thinking of trying something similar to that red tank but with a metallic or pearl gold base coat, gold flake and then spraying trans red "kandy" on top of it. I guess that's the standard formula for a "candy apple red" paint job? Dunno, looks like fun though.

Good stuff man. Looking good plus the pride of having done it yourself when people ask, and they certainly will.

Thanks fellas. I wanted to do the wrenching myself, but I was out with a broken back and a good friend who happens to be a retired master tech I used to work with, offered to do it for me. Lucky me. At least I can say I did the paint though. My mechanic buddy thinks the paint is hella gay, this coming from the guy that used to put his dick in a hotdog bun at work and find ways of tricking us into looking at it, haha dude's a nut, but appears totally normal.

No such thing as "too much flake". That's awesome.
