Sportster front brake line question

On my 09 XL, the front brake line goes from a rubber hose at the caliper, to a hard line up the forks, back to a rubber line at the caliper. Is there a reason H-D did this, other then aesthetics? I made a set of bars, and all the cables and wiring reaches easily, but the brake line is pulled pretty tight, even with rebending the steel line. Is there any reason I shouldn't just get a whole SS line made to run from the master to the caliper? I dont see any problem in doing so, but just want to make sure there isnt something that I am overlooking.
