Seabass, do you mind putting up a pic of those forward pegs you have mounted on there and show how they are mounted?

as far as the breathers/ac well the breathers work great, there is a little oil mist on the a/c and rocker area, but not bad it wipes right off, and thats only after long/hard rides. otherwise great.

the a/c ... well the quality is ok, the cover is neat. but the paper filter blows, choked my motor effectivley. would have had to jet leaner than factory, i am gonna replace with a taller k&n or something.
Oh hey man, no worries. Thanks so much for the support and encouragement! I just read your post on your thread and replied to you there and then checked my email and saw you replied here as well (maybe next time I should check all my emails!). But so it goes.

I went on a ride down to Anaheim this weekend and the seat felt great and Christa hasn't complained about it either so for now, it' gettin the job done.

The a/c thing had been an on going saga for me. As I am sure you know money is tight, that is why I wanted to go with the Mooneyes a/c, cheap, small and seemed like it would get the job done. I would have loved to get something better like a BCM or Bench*Mark a/c but I don't have around $200 bones to drop on that! Worst part is, my bike runs great as is and I have this feeling I am gonna get a new a/c then choke the shit out of my engine that runs fuckin awesome now. Form over function indeed.

The k&n would be a good idea, would you run it with the mooneyes cover (or would it be too tall and not fit) or would you run it naked? When I tried looking at the k&n's wasn't their a/c going for like around $200 as well? But I guess it is lifetime so I mean......

Good heads up on the hardware. I had read the mooneyes comes with no hardware so I was wondering what people were using. Smart to just change them all while you are at it. I've burn my hand quite a few time doing something stupid and forgetting its hot. By the way, did you have to go shorter or longer on the screws that the stock ones?

Keep me posted and thanks for getting back to me, hear from you soon!

Forward Mounted Pegs

Ok so here are some pics of the forward mounted pegs. They are bolted into the lower front engine mount. There is literally a hole drilled into mount bracket and them the forward pegs are just mounted. They are factory pegs and the set up is pretty simple. Check out the pics and let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.

No worries dude. I've been gone for a while plus moneys been tighter than hell these days. After doing more research I think I am gonna go with the mooneyes stuff and a k&n filter as well. Trying to decide whether I want to run the chrome cover or get a larger a/c and run just a top. I do like the look of the chrome cover to be honest.

That k&n you posted that is a bit taller that the moon chrome cover ya? That k&n is 3.23" and the chrome cover is only 2.25" tall correct?

Also does the 3.875" diameter of the k&n fit good into the moon bracket? I have been looking at another filter that is a bit wider (4.25" diameter) and wondered if it might fit or is the smaller one nice and snug?

To be honest, no I know exactly what years they made it, I wanna say late 80's early 90's is when it came stock. No part number but you can find them every once and a while on ebay. You just might have to go through a bunch of listings to find it. Or you can search "sportster seat _____" and fill in the year and just kinda go through year by year.

If it helps, mine was off a 1987.

Hey man, Thanks so much, I am stoked you like it! I am especially stoked because when I began this thread I did it with the idea that someone else might be able to use it to help them do some of the same shit I am doing with my bike. I mean, I didn't know any of this stuff and I figured, well if I didn't know it, maybe some else doesn't and could use this thread to get it done.

If you ever need any help or have any questions or anything, let me know and I would be more than happy to help out with anything I can. Plus I am LA (kinda near the Hollywood area) and I got a garage and tools so you ever need some help or a place to work on the bike, let me know!

the filter i posted, fits great at 3 7/8" anything larger diameter is not gonna fit without some work, like grinding off the lip of the a/c bracket and making a backing plate adapter type deal to slap on top of it.
its alot taller tho, like 2x as tall, so it sticks out there a ways.
