wondering if anybody out there has mounted or tried to mount one of those p-nut tanks that cleveland cycle works is making. i think lowbrow and monstercraftsman are selling them. just wondering if it will block the top motor mounts on an xs650??? thanks.

They will work but you have to cut the coil mounts off your frame, which you are probably gonna do anyway. And either not run the top mount or fab a mount.

I just put one on recently. Coil mounts and upper motor mount had to go. The stock forward tank mounts not only had to go but I had to remove a bit of material from that spot where the gusset bulges out. I also spread the tunnel a little bit in my vice to make it fit. I used Hugh's bungs and they work great. My only complaint is the thing seems to rattle a little bit at high RPMs. I tried draping a piece of rubber fiber gasket material over the backbone but that didn't help. I'm using little rubber washers stacked 3 high for a little cushion between the tank mounts and the bungs but still nothing. I doubt it's the cap since I took it off going down the road and it didn't change anything. Maybe it's just the tank resonating?

I think it's just the tank. I put rubber washers also and put a layer of duct tape where the tank sits and that helped a little, but it still has it at high RPM. I don't think it's to bad.

Yeah it has gotten a little better. I was thinking of softening the edges on the bungs though. Even with rubber washers, it is still a sharp flat surface trying to mount to a rounded one. Just seems like a stress riser waiting to happen...

You can stretch the tunnels 1/4"-1/2" to make the high tunnel tanks like this one fit with ease. But, you still have to remove the coil mount and fab at least the front motor mount.

Fab the front motor mount? Do you mean the front part of the upper mount or the actual front mount?
