Yet another wiring question

Im really just posting this to make sure Im understanding correctly. Ive gotten rid of all the electronics on the bars and I plan on running the start button right on the starter. Now from what I understand, doing this I am able to get rid of the starter relay and associated wiring. My question is, do I have to do any bypassing of the stock kill switch or does that automatically go away when I use the button on the actual starter?

I dont have the new starter button yet otherwise Id just try it. I want to make sure this is all sorted so when it comes down to it I run into as few snags as possible.

Ive been staring at this miserable online wiring diagram for a half hour trying to get it sorted.

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

* i suppose its also worth noting this is for an 03 Sporty

Which wiring diagram are you using? The kill switch isn't necessary if you don't want it. This is a good one for a similar year sporty with the push button solenoid. For some reason the person chose not to run a brake light, but it's still relevant in terms of the bare minimum of what you should have to run a push button starter like that.

Kinda depends how much wiring you wanna eliminate. You can eliminate all the wiring on the bars, without hacking up the harness or rewiring the whole bike. Ive done a couple sporties and my dyna without doing anything that wasnt reversable. Unplugged the pod controls and spliced and 86'd some wires, but always in front of the plug, if that makes sense.

If you don't loop that run/off switch to be always on, you wont get power to the coils(wont start). If you run it together, your key switch will now be your only off switch. If you run a manual push start on your starter, that's all you need to start it.

*If you dont have the button yet and wanna see if it starts, take off the three screws on the cover and push in the shaft with a hammer handle or similar.

Hope that helps.

Just incase anyone needs this question answered later.

Bypass the kill switch by connecting the grey and white/black wires that come out of the harness. Bike is officially on the road!
