82 maxim brat/cafe

i hate maxim fuel tanks, and i hate the wheels. i gotta deal with the wheels for now though i guess. but as far as the gas tank goes. I have an old 73 rd350 parts bike laying around so I took the tank off that.. re-tunneled it to fit the dumb 3 tube back bone on the maxim. pounded out a new seat pan and used the vinyl off the rd350 seat and now working that onto the pan. the lines are perfect seeing how they are from the same bike. obviously doing other things.. hiding wires, cutting more shit off, welding new brackets here and there.. made a battery box out of an old metal box from some old lady's trash, headlight bucket from an 71 yamaha 110 enduro. ford doulamp , cafe bars (not sure if those are staying or not) and some other misc things.. so ya

that cb350 is my girlfriends.. it took her a whopping one summer of riding on the back with me for her to want her own.. its a 71 cb350 twin... damn thing is clean. I got her a new seat and reshaped it so she could touch her feet to the ground and got her some new bars and tires.

I hate maxims; but that's starting to look pretty decent. Keep it up.

It's cool your chick likes to ride.

My first bike was an '82 Maxim... I kinda miss that little bastard! It sure was fun while I had it! Can't wait to see this one done.

thanks guys . annnnd to be honest i hate maxims too. but while moneys tight this is what i'll be cruisin. got it dirt cheap from my buddy then the plan is to hopefully make some money on it once its done for the next project, hopefully an xs650. but today I finally got my girlfriends bike going. I got all her wires ran through her bars and buttoned up. sprayed a little carb cleaner in the carbs and after sitting for a few years that damn thing fired up first kick! bad gas and all.. i was a little amazed. her birthday is in a few days and i made the mistake of promising i'd have it all good and running by then. I bought a six pack of some good beer because i was so stoked how good it ran.
