tr6 redux

tr6 project redux

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

some piece o' shit mucked my 61 xlch from my front yard, so its back to the tr6.
i got to a point where every time id take some paint off the frame to weld a tab on id find a new crack.
i went lookin for a decent front loop and found a guy in carolina who repopped front loops, for less than the price of a stock part, and after ordering one, i was happier than a pig in shit at what i got.
i decided to go back to my original plan for a little digger.
here is what the first mockup looks like.
im glad the raked loop i had is shit, so...........

first order was to shorten the front end. off to brother mutt at the pigstye, and he did a killer job takin 12 inches out of it, and even powdered up the fronnt legs for free. back legs wouldnt fit in the oven.
more pics tomorrow, as im glad this thing is nearing the end.
and if anyone sees this 61, there is a bounty on it
it now has a solo seat and the 'lowering kit' has been removed.....

id really like to run this hummer tank, but it is a very tight fit (must be forced down onto the spine tube.) i dont want to risk having the tank seam crack down the line due to vibration, but the only alternative seems to be to heat the spine tube up and flatten it vertically an eighth of an inch on each side. this doesnt seem like a good idea.
any suggestions?

I would cut the bottom of the tank out and make a wider channel:

Lotta work, but the right way to do it IMO.

Stance looks killer so far!

learned my lesson with my sporty, so i decided to put a wire loom on the fender, it sucks pulling the whole rear end off to replace some frayed wiring, so.....

and dont know how i missed this.....

i decided to go with a bolt on rear section from the guys that built my front section, so ive got 600 into the frame, but the factory metal works does beautiful work, so im very happy.
seems the 50 dollar chassis i thought i made such a good deal on... at least i sold everything but the frame for a good 800% profit, invader mag, 64 only front end, bates seat, 9that alone got me 200 dollars.

think im gonna use this wassel style tank. i may even commit blasphemy and cut the ignition switch mount out of a nearly perfectly good harley part and uhh.......
here is the timing side, with the loosely fitted early bsa oil tank.
need a little advice on setting the restrictor on the top end oiler take-off. any suggestions? im thinking a simple hose clamp right after the tee to the top end oiler to force oil to the rockers................

_________maybe some 28" monkey bars on a set of flanders risers.............________________

No expert but you need to put some type of restriction on return before oil gets back into oil tank so back presure will feed your line up top rockers, this, should help : dont think the pinch clamp on tube will cut it

http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=6651

Im running same lowbrow peanut tank, its a quality tank and teh Factory Metal work is top nitch stuff so it look sliek you are off to a great start.

disappearing pics

dont know where the pics i posted went, so here they are again.
this is the new frame. the one in the previous pic had too many cracks.
every time id take some paint off to weld a new tab on......
here is the coil mount

i ended up with a factory metal works front loop, and a factory rear loop, o" stretch, 0" drop
the springer is 4" under

here are the seat bungs installed, and the fender mounted
the tab is for the oil tank, but it will need to be moved.

ill put more pics as work progresses
hope to have some free time soon.

i got to lookin inside the oil tank and think that the problem may have been solved by the factory. where the oil squirts out of the return line inside the tank, the pipe is pinched off. is this the "restrictor' in a bsa oil tank?

it is , so ure useing a factory oil tank, ok i see in the pic that looks like a triumph preunit oil bag that should be good to go , the pipes pinched of at the top & theres a hole drilled in the side of pipe which corectly measures the oil flow

got some shit done today

had to take off work to go to the dmv (6 freakin hours to renew my previously suspended dl.)
i decided to make the best of an otherwise bad sitchiation.
these are my main fender mounts. if i can convince myself that the fender is sturdy enuf, im going to forego struts. this aint a bike for carryin some chic i may pick up. if she wants me, she can meet me at her house (im new in town, how do i get to your house?)
got the oil tank moved to its proper location, and decided to try some baby apes.
also found a seat . i think im gonna have to remove the cover, reshape the pan, and redo the cover using a nice set of boots i just had to scrap because expanded metal mesh is hard on soft soles.
i also repositioned the rear fender, and shortened the risers

its a beautiful sunday afternoon

got the grill goin for a couple of really nice ny strips from my mother in law, a 12 pack of PBR, and im finishing up the scoot.
found out im missing a couple of critical bolts, (shouldered rocker box bolts, and the 10/24 nuts for the intake studs)
the '70 only front motor mount bolts are too short, and the isolator block that goes between the carb flange and the intake manifold is not quite thick enough)
minor shit that precludes me from accepting a black cloud over my otherwise sunny day
left side

right side

and by the way, why the fuck are my pics all tinted blue?
cant make my 5 dollar ebay camera stop doing this. sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt.........
anniehooooooo.......
thanks again to lucas at tfmw for a beautiful frame. wasnt sure about the no drop, no stretch at first, but i have become very, uhhhh.. lustful lately
thanks lucas, for a job well done. wish you had been around when i needed a frame for my 62 BSA a10
