Strange electrical problem!
On my girlfriends 2001 sportster, she bought the bike with chrome switchs instead of the factory black ones. They have a little different of a design. But anyway i changed out her throttle tube the other day then the bike started stinking really bad of burnt plastic. We instantly turned off the bike and started looking for the problem. I noticed the Throttle cables were very warm. I opened up the side panel by the battery and it has melted part of the fuse block. What would cause this? all i can think is a hot got touched by a ground and then caught on fire. I thought a fuse would have stopped this from happening thou. Maybe the guy before us had the wrong size fuse in it? any help to figure this out would be great.
