Yeah, I've got another piece of the 1"x2" that I need to finish fitting there.

Made a bit more progress.

I've got pretty much everything welded up I can w/o pulling the engine and wheel.

I rolled the bike off the lift, and once on the ground it looks a lot smaller.

Mocking up the seat. I think I like the way it looks sitting a little above level. We'll see once I get a spring under it.

a dude aproached me yesterday about chopping an 80 CB750 super sport for him. He said he would write the checks, and I do the work. Might be my first paid gig.

Sweet man! Good luck with that.

And trust me, my wife does not appreciate the progress I've been making, but I've got to try and get it ride-able by the Smoke-Out. I tried telling her the more I work on it now, the sooner it'll be done. That didn't work. Some how she got this crazy idea that once I finished this bike, I'd get another one to build,

Last night we got some gussets but in, and cleaned up a couple welds.

It's coming along...

waiting on my seat shock to come in... hopefully it'll turn out as killer as it is in my head. Need to sort out the wiring. I'm thinking 8 cell ballistic evo2 for the battery, help keep the electrical in a smaller area. need to make the tank mounts still and the rear motor mount. Still need to make the handlebars & foot controls, clean and tune the carbs... and probably a dozen other things.

What is your plan using the stock carbs and all the vacuum lines since you are running pods? I picked up a set of cycle X carbs the other day. Yea, definitely not made for the 91+ nighthawk. Will have to fab up intake "Y's" to make them work. Whats your plan for the exhaust?

I'm just going to plug the vacuum line coming off the carb and use a standard petcock. Then work on getting it jetted and tuned for the pods. The header that was on the bike will work with a little encouragement, I may just use the muffler that was on it for now; we'll see after I tweak the header. Eventually I'd like to get/make a different header with a little better ground clearance. Either another 4-2-1, but more like the cycle exchange unit, or a 4-2 with a cross-over.

Here's what i did to fit the header:

Pie cut at the back Y collector:

Heated, and straightened out the bend, then welded up the seam:

Now the header fits fine, but the section of pipe on the muffler won't work, so I'll have to make something there.

take another piece of that rectangle tube and cross it from right to left right under the frame X then up the let side to a stubby muffler.

It's hard to tell from the pictures I posted, but the header sweeps to the right, and the back of it dumps just inside the right tube. I think for now I'm just going to chop down the can that was on it, and bend an intermediate pipe to fit.

would sound really awesome with just a long straight pipe snaked around and out the back somewhere. Sure it would be loud, but it would sound awesome.

have it come up through that triangle to keep it narrow?

I'll just bring it on the outside, my electronics box will be right there around the front of that triangle. It'll be just wider than the motor, and narrower than the foot controls. The motor hangs out the sides of the frame a decent amount.

Been doing a little work. Got a pingel petcock in, that thing is sweet. So that let me set the tank height and get the tank mounted. Also got the shock in for the seat, and the mounts and bracket about done for it.

Also started messing with the carbs, got them apart and soaking while I'm waiting for the gaskets and jets.

Thanks man. I found that thing just browsing mtn bike shocks. It was only like $50 brand new (msrp was closer to $350)... I guess too much supply and not enough demand.

BikeExif posted this tank by The Hookie:

I'm diggin' it. It's fairly close to what I was thinking of doing with mine anyway, but better. It gives me more ideas... when I get to that stage
