Twin Turbo S4 (B5) UH OH...

I know most of the cages on here are older ones with serious personality but I love my car. It's a 2000 Audi S4 (2.7L Twin Turbo) with a Unitronic stg 1 chip and custom intake. It was my favorite car when I was 18 and I bought it after a really hard deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. It means something to me. That is why today sucked so fucking badly.
I was in the middle lane between a semi and a minivan and there was, what I can only describe as a piece of metal shit in the road. It looked about 2 ft long and an inch wide. I couldn't swerve so I hit it. A minute later my oil light came on and I smelled "burning". I immediately pulled over and looked under the car and saw this...

Thats my oil pan with what can only be described as a fucking hatchet wound in it.

Compared to what it could have been I know I got pretty lucky. However I love this car as much as my bike and it fucking killed me to see it all banged up like this. I know I'm a douche for getting all shitty over a car and I could get flamed for this but fuck it... its my shit. I'll be out a car for a little bit but I got my bike so that rules. Like I said, it could've been ALOT worse.

Duct tape?

Sorry to see that man. Made my stomach drop just imagining seeing that under my car. Glad it didn't cause you to wreck....on the bright side, an oil pan shouldn't be a million bux.

Pick the one you need and order it. This company is great, because it's the only place I cang get a $300+ oil pan for a 2000 VW Jetta GLS for $45 plus shipping. I've had to do it twice because my brother busted two pans. Make sure you order the gasket kit also.

Also, use Royal Purple synthetic oil and filter. That shit makes your motor forgiving for shit like this.

That blows, good thing you're smart enough to shut it down asap, some people would try and drive it to a mechanic. Shit like this happens and hopefully it will be the last time. I remember when I was a kid and I decided that if I was going to learn anything about anything mechanical I was on my own, my dad's mechanically fucktarded so I knew better than going to him to learn anything. I learned the hard way to double check the filter to make sure the old gasket came off before spinning the new filter on. Took all of maybe 50 feet to realize something was fucked up but I remember the feeling I got in my gut thinking I'd possibly done some serious damage, its not a good one. Lucky for me my buddy was down the street, and unlike my dad his is a mechanical god and can fix or build just about anything and had passed a good amount of skills along to him. Took him all of maybe 5 seconds to shake his head and call me a dumb ass.

Thanks fellas. I got an oil pan thru a local part store because they could get it to me next day. It was $95 but I have zero patience when it comes to this stuff so paying the extra $50 or so was worth it. I did however order an extra thru that website Hooli recommended along with some stuff for the wife's Beetle. I got it all put on this afternoon and everything seems to be in order. I stopped to check it about 10 times on the way home. Hopefully everything stays on the up and up. Thanks again fellas.

bummer..
I hope you at least pulled your oil pickup tube to inspect it while you had the oil pan off.
When your car was new/under warranty chances are the oil was changed every 10,000 miles
with Pennzoil. This caused major problems with sludge buildup in the 1.8T motors, I cant tell
you how many complete 1.8T A4 motors we did under warranty and more than a couple turbo failures on those 2.7 S4s and A6s. Im sure you know, turbo failure on your car means pulling the motor/dropping the subframe.
I'd strongly suggest running synthetic for no more than 5k miles at a time if you dont already.

Also, those cars have belly pans for a reason, you might want to get one.

Yes. Yes and double yes. Yeah man. i checked everything out while it was opened up and reinstalled the guard. I run mobil1 in it and change everything within 5,000 (minimum). I ran it hard wednesday and rechecked everything because I had a lift available. Its all holding up awesomely. I bought the car with 70,000ish on it so it was way past warranty but the dude was as insane as I am and saved every single receipt with references and checkups every 6 months. He also wouldn't let the gas get below a quarter of a tank which is something I do also.
I've been around these all my life and know that if I wanted something that wasn't tempermental and needed more attention that a 5 year old with ADHD at a beauty pagent I would have bought a honda. Thanks for the words my man.
