Got some fab work done today, messing around with an idea and I like it, just made one fender strut so far, still have to make the other side. All stainless steel so it can get a nice polish
The bottom sleeve was turned down in a lathe, it is slightly tapered. The 3/8" stainless strut rod was then welded into the sleeve on the bottom before that was all welded to the counterbore bung. I think it gives a nice detail and the whole strut setup should be nice and rigid, and light.

Thanks Tony! Yeah Dan at 7 Metal West did up a narrow 4" for me, this time ribbed, he did the one on my single engine race bike a couple years ago too.
The motor and tranny cases are all vapor blasted, really nice finish that way! They look new.
And yep, hammering away on it will have it at Born Free 4 on June 30th, running and ready to rock!

that looks a damned site comfier than my twin engine riding position, maybe i need longer arms and legs, im full superman position on mine haha, and a hell of a lot better tucked in too. panther motors are so bloody tall

Yeah I forget his name at the moment. He does real good work, and gives us a discount quite often because we are sending multiple sets of cases, heads, rocker boxes etc etc at a time. He did my ''75 Shovel motor cases and heads too and they look great

Cool as hell, but I also agree with the guy earlier in the post that it would be badass to flip one of the heads, then you could merge the exhaust if you flipped the front head, or if you flipped the rear you could run 2 split intakes with 1 carb on the right of the bike feeding the right cylinders of each motor and one on the left feeding the left cylinders.... maybe with Dellorto DHLA's to make it look extra badass?

Flipping one head might look cool but Bonneville is about speed. Its much easier to set up the two engines if they are the same rather than trying to get a pair of oddballs to work together. Don;t worry though Tyler builds show bikes that are go bikes as well.

I know this is a dead topic. But I was looking at a thread on another forum about vintage drag bikes when I spotted this double Triumph with a reverse head. To me its butt ugly. And thats as kind as I can be.

like... what was the difference in the carb jetting between the front engine and the rear engine?

I saw that too, the GP's were certainly plentiful when that bike was running around in the early 60's.
but did you see all the cosmetic aluminum fab work that went into the primary cover and other places? That's not really indicative of a budget build.
and imagine the chain whip going on in that primary cover...
This bike would make fantastic "Garage art", wish it was mine.
Does TC still have the twin Norton? I heard there was a fire at the house.

TC had a fire at his house but the Norton is fine. We've been talking about bringing it back to life as an LSR racer. TC says he'd love to see it run again. The records in the class it would run in are way up there. I dont think it would be a record breaker but it would be funner than hell to take it to the salt.

that would be fantastic to see and hear that bike run, Obviously a LSR would be great, As you know, but just being there is a win.

Bonneville is on my bucket list, and the my clock is ticking pretty loudly.

Wink was at El Mirage last weekend. I'm guessing he had problems. I saw him turn out on his second run on Sat. Ran 144 on a 175 record.
You need to get to Bonneville. Its one of those places that if you like speed and bikes you must go at least once. Don't tag along. Put a bike together and run. Way better than spectating.
