ironhead wiring

im wireing my 71 ironhead and was wondering if i wire the generator directly to the battery or do i run it through a fuse/breaker?

most guys will run at least a 14ga wire through a 30amp breaker. but dont completely listen to me because at the moment im fighting with the wiring on mine and everything is working except the charging system.

I put a 30amp fuse in line to the battery on mine. I figured if it shorts out while running down the road I want the fuse to blow rather than burn down the bike.

I run one 20 amp relay off the hot battery wire to a terminal block. Everything is powered from that. But mine's kick only..

You wire your genny to your regulator, then your regulator to your main circuit breaker, main circuit breaker to your battery.
