question about a bmw

looking at buying this bike and maybe doing a cafe style to it, but the seller says been sitting up and all it needs is a fuel pump...He's asking 1400 and says overall in great shape... Its an 85 k-100 from what he says... I think its cool because its so different but Im not familiar with them at all... 1400 seems high to me but I dont know..... Should the fuel pump issue is something that seems like a cheap fix but it kinda seems if thats all it is why dont he change it...
Anyhow whats some thoughts on this bike....Thanks guys

Did you buy it? They're indestructible, handle like a truck, are about as sexy as a cinder block, and have a somewhat unpleasant high frequency buzz.

Do IT!!!

Take a fuel pump from a 94 taurus I believe...? I've done it with great success. Great bike as well, I learned on this k-100...

Had I been here, I would have def replied to this bud, hopefully you picked it up... I'd offer him 1000, and meet in the middle...

I own one, it's nothing like my sporty or my xs but still a blast to go fast on! the wife will ride all day on it no complaints. I ride it in bad weather, rain, snow whatever,it's a tank!

All good points to go over. Bricks are pretty cool. Everywhere I rode mine I'd have people come up and compliment it. There's a uniqueness about them, that gets a lot of attention. The most notable item on that list of things to go over is the rubber... Hoses, gaskets, or anything that touches or comes in contact with gas, will eventually need replacing. When you take that fuel pump out, you'll understand why it's shot... The rubber just turns to black goo with todays gasoline... Do yourself a favor and clean the tank completely, rid it of all the gunk and shit, or you'll end up replacing it again, very shortly.. Also... Seafoam. Seafoam. Seafoam and Seafoam... It will be your miracle agent in cleaning out injectors...
