I hear ya. Funny thing is, everything oxides with the vinegar. The vinegar takes it away. It's like ping pong you do not wash it or neutralize it with water. I have a bucket next to the vinegar to wash or go to the garden hose and clean the cement, not the grass with that acid.

And I forgot to mention to use carb clean to melt what the water and vinegar did not clear. With those 3 combination plays, she looks almost spanking new.

Totally forgot about the Vinegar. +1. Also Lime away and CLR, if you can get it in Scandinavia.

Love my Andrews Zenith. Slightly better throttle response than the actual Bendix that was on it when my dad had it. I’ve tried an S&S B, and an E besides. But, when I ran AMRA on my '89 XL, my CV ROCKED. Bottom line (for me) is it depends on how involved you want to get into tuning.Gonna bolt it on?CV ,just pop the idle mixture plug, set it , and most of the time you'll have a damn good unit. It all depends on how "stock" your engine is. The nice thing about needle type carbs (CV) is that they're very forgiving.

randall,
i'll take a cv for jeri's 72fx. the bendix on there now is a piece if shit....just when i get it dialed in, it starts coughing again. i'm sick and tired of it,,,,allthough it's a factory part and you know i like to keep my bikes original as possible,,,,those bendix's suck... jer won't let me chop it,,,,maybe after i get the 52 built for her...see if you have a good one,,,,i heard the early ones are better than the later ones,,,your thoughts on that? talk at you later,,,38knuckle

A local bum.

No seriously. Soft wire brushes, WD40 and lots of elbowgrease. I tried using degreaser in that ultrasonic cleaner you see in the background but the results were disappointing.

i think those are usually within a screw turn or two of being right on for an ironhead. i think you really have to make some serious changes to get those to fuel in a different range than stock, although i have restricted the air bleeds and made them work on an engine they otherwise wouldn't feed. bottom line, i'd try it as is, you may be amazed at the adjustability.
