95 Nighthack 750 project

I've recently acquired a 1995 CB750 Nighthawk and decided to hard tail it. So, I immediately started stripping it down.

Since this is only my second build, there's a few things I'm still sorting out and I'm sure I'll have a few questions. The first build was a fighter, so slightly different beast.
My plan is to drop it down a bit, and get some USD forks on there. Hopefully I can keep the lean angles sufficient for decent cornering. The 929 and 954 have the same size stem bearings, but I'm worried about head tube / stem length. The head tube on Nighthawk is about 8.5" or 9" long. Maybe the stems can be swapped on the lower tree? Or maybe it won't be an issue? IDK
Other things I'm still sorting out: Lights, air filter... well hell most the build is still in development stage in my head, so pretty much everything is up for debate... except the hard tail.

Heres some bikes that are kind of inspiring the build:

teamnaptime's (I think thats his s/n) frame:

along with one of the sickest Savage's I've seen, built by trucker over at CF:

and a couple other bikes I found on google image search:

And this is my results from last build season:

Went from this:
