Harley techs help!!!

Well I'm just finishing up my build(I have a 97 1200) and I got everything buttoned up. I go to start the motor and she's hesitating a lot. Shes cranking a couple times then coughs a bit and back fires every now and then. The frot cylinder smokes a bit when it does that. It's white smoke. it also makes a wired noise from the cylinder could be cause of whats going on but not positive. I'm not sure what's going on and need help really bad.

Calling all Harley tech for help.

Thanks a lot guy, Earl

Give us a little more info. Is this a new rebuild on the motor or what? What have you done to the motor since it last ran properly?
My first guess would be a timing issue of somekind. Give us more details.

well wheni say build i mean i built a bobber out of my stock sporty. so motor wise the only thing i did was remove rocker box to release tension on cams to put cam cover back on then re assemble the rocker box and all. i put a super E carb on but that wouldnt make a problem like this.

i think timing may be off. i never thought about that. Not positive though. would like to see some more ideas about what it could be

in that case, i'd bet you got your cam timing buggered somehow or our valves aren't adjusted properly.
Pop the top again, bring each cylinder to TDC and check your valve lash and go from there.
