kickstand problem

ok, so ever since i got my 09 sporty the kickstand spring would loosen over a few months and would drag in turns, so id get it replaced.

well, the last time i think the guys did something awesome and it worked fine for at least 6 months with no dragging, but today i went to move my bike after i just rode 8 miles and found the spring was off on the frame side, still hooked to the stand itself!

so i leaned the bike over and could put it back on by hand...WTF? i know that youre not supposed to do be able to do that.

what can i do to fix this shit permanently?

Obtain a slightly shorter spring, or a spring that has more resistance against it , you may even be able to modify the spring you have, so that it is slightly shorter.

Attach an "accessory spring".
I have my standard jiffystand very much Adapted to my bike. The standard spring just didn't hold it up against the bike where it needed to be. So I went to FarmNFleet and bought a few different lengths of springs and just attached one to a different spot on the bike.

It's not the prettiest looking solution, but it keeps my kickstand from catching on some tracks and yanking me down.

Also...............Standard issue HD Baling wire until you figure something out. I made a little hook that came off of my lower frame rails that would hold my kickstand pretty well.

it rode home fine. but ill probably grab another spring tomorrow with some kinda better attachment

I use a stack of very strong rare earth magnets attached to the kickstand--when it touches the frame it's held tight
Neodium magnets I think is what they're called

thats actually a cool idea. problem is i have the rubber bump stop thing. maybe i can yank that off and see if i can put on there. you epoxy it on or anything?

Run an internal kickstand. I am, since I had a simular problem on my last bike.

Same thing with mine....fucking Chinese Springs!!!! Hahahaha

Not epoxied, just some safety wire: set it up as a temporary fix & just left it. If there's a flat side to your kicker (so the magnets won't slide around you probably don't need anything at all- the magnetic field is strong as fuck.
