what you been hit by.

so yesterday on my home from work i spotted a low flying bird not a sec later it ran right into me. probably one of the strangest things thats happened to me on the bike as of yet.

so this got me thinking. what have other riders been pelted with on a ride they weren't expecting?

i have been hit by rocks, bugs, road trash, had a part of a car wiz past my head once. and now a bird.

tell me your story.

Bird hit me in my chest.
Golf ball whizzed by my head once.
Piece of shredded tire popped up on freeway after car ran over it and hit my arm.
My garage door hit me once. (ok, maybe I hit my garage door. Didn wait till it opened completely before I rode in)

Nothing too crazy though.

Well since I ride not only motorcycles but also bicycles also I been hit by so many things it's ridiculous. I've been hit by a suburban a Plymouth it was a valiant a lumber truck and a blue something or other I never got the name of as far as vehicles go, I've been hit by or hit a dog a raccoon, rabbits several squirrels and damn near killed myself trying to avoid a fox. Rocks, trash, wasps, bees, june bugs, grasshoppers (big ones), butterflies during a mass migration, yellow jacket (the absolute worst thing to have between clothing and skin period!)

While riding in a group, with a guy that makes parts fall off of any bike he touches, I've been hit in the face by a bouncing mirror and hit in the leg by a bouncing foot peg. Both pieces fell off of two different bikes he was riding, and one of them wasn't even his! The mirror he didn't think was from his bike but I assured him it was because when we left he had two and when we arrived he only had one. I've also had a bug go up my nose at 70mph. That'll wake you up!

i've been hit by the occasional large bug (june bugs, big moths, grasshoppers and dragonflys). no bee's yet, but mostly just those little annoying bugs that just seem to hover in big groups over the road. been hit by rocks, grass clippings from lawn mowers, dust and dirt clouds mixed with floating shrapnel from farmers plowing a field . a couple years ago i was riding behind my brother and some nuts and bolts came off his bike and bounced up and hit me in the arm and chest, that shit stings at highway speeds. we still don't know what they were from...

Yeah, I got caught in a hail storm last year and had some nasties to show for it for a few days. The worst was an old lady in a Chevy, she rear ended me while I was sitting still. That was one of those "Look out Jesus, here I come" times but I survived it without major injuries.

Ive been hit with all the normal shit. Worst was a wasp down the front of my shirt that stung me 6-7 tiimes before I could kill him. Funniest one was when my brother Tommy got hit with the arm of a toll booth. He threw the change in and I heard him throttle up so I left and triggerd the electronic eye. well, Tommy missed his gear and didnt get out right away, the arm came down and took a nickel sized chunk out of his forehead! I heard the thud, looked back and Tommy has his hand on his forehead! Funny as shit.

Dodged a basketball that flew off of a pick up on the freeway, helmet clipped a bird on my way to EDR, ducked a piece of sheet metal that flew off of another pick up, NM monsoon, and got hit by empty soda cans which littered the freeway on the way to Hippy Killer 4. Also got hit by a semi on I-91. The lug nuts clipped my boot and took out my exhaust. Almost went down but got lucky and came out on top.

My worst was a bird to the chest/shoulder. I saw it coming and tried to dodge it but it bounced off my front wheel and hit me. The bad part was a girl was driving behind me. When we pulled up to a stop she started giving me shit for "swerving at that poor bird".

One other time a chunk of concrete came out of a dump truck and was bigger than my bikes ground clearance. It took out my front pipe pulling it off the head and knocking a huge dent in it. Better than the alternative of going under the tire and/or bike or hitting me.

I got hit in the back by my chain once when it snapped while I was showing off by the local college campus.

Then junebugs almost nightly during warm weather. They usually seem to aim for my face and glasses. As well as the random trash and whatever is in the road.
