Cheap Welders

I need to do some small work around the house on my bike and a small mini bike. My arc welder melted down. I need to get one in the next month or two for $275 and under if at all possible. If you dont know any mig or arc welders that are half way decent at that price I might have to hire some work.

Been thinking about picking one of them up. Mostly to tack shit together so my buddy can weld it proper at his place. I've checked out some video reviews of the HF one on YouTube and people seem to think that, for the money, it's not horrible. But they do make note that they wouldn't really trust it to weld something that is structural, like a frame.

I bought a Lincoln 110v for around $350 delivered a couple years ago. Yo can get them on ebay for about the same here I have had zero issue with it. I have built a frame with it using flux core and haven't had any welds break (lots of hard miles on shitty Nebraska roads. Lots of long trips fully loaded). I used it to build a trailer as well with zero issues. I know that people will talk smack on them and probably tell me my frame will crack and I will die and it will all be my fault for being cheap and stupid. But it's what I have and I use it all the time.
I have purchased 2 shitty HF welders the first one never worked and the second one did for about for about a 2" weld on low. I wouldn't buy one; but that's my experience.

If you can save some dough and just buy a Miller. I waited and got a Millermatic 211 and am so glad I did. I've heard some horror stories with those Harbor Freight deals.

I retract my previous suggestion. The Lincoln I bought is from poland (I thought they were all made in America) and it's REAAALLLLLY hard to find parts for and cost as much as the damn welder.

Welders are like tattoos: "good" and "cheap" will never both describe one.

I fucked around attempting to weld with a campbell hausfeld 110v MIG welder that I got from my Dad. Couldn't get any penetration, the welds looked horrible, and it seemed hard as shit. I was about done with trying to learn how to weld. I saved up and got a hobart 190 220v this past christmas and it was like night and day. I recommend saving a little and going with a good welder. I still have a ton to learn and having a good machine makes it possible.

I am just fighting with my lack of skill, not that and trying to do it with a shitty machine.
