72 daytona first ever build

my name is mike im 21 years old, this is my first ever build of anything mechanical. have done alot of research but can only learn so much by the internet. i finally got it into my basement.
here it is before
i will be posting lots of pics of anything i do big or small, feel absolutely free to tell me any opinions or if you see anything wrong with anything. will not be offended at all. i hope to get alot of feedback on what to do or ideas. or if the post is set up wrong.

i dont know anything about these, the guy i bought it off of said its all original but the apes and 3 over front end. i am going with a rigid dont know exactly, was thinking 4 2.5 or maybe 4 4 from fmw? let me know any opinions. i want a lower stance bike i will be running the 18 rear 19 front, looking for a springer front, apes, everything else is undecided. thanks to anyone who has input
more pics soon

Looks decent, it should prove to be a fun bike. I would like to note that those forward foot pegs are not original, there folding, which is a nice addition. The exhaust is not original either, its also missing the original rear grab rail. You may want to update the electronics on it to go battery-less or whatever. It appears to have the original zener diode,(that thingamabob under the headlight) which is an electrical regulator / rectifier. There are several more modern ignition products available out there to replace the original zener diode,(and the original points ignition,if it still has them) that are smaller sealed units and are generally easier to conceal because they require much less air flow to cool them.

got my bike down and pulled the motor out in an hour and a halfish. and have been slowly pulling stuff off. checking to see how everything goes and understand everything.

thank god it will be easier getting it up the stairs in spring.

my new tool kit i got from canadian tire on sale or 150 bucks. i am starting out with nothing so i gotta buy all the tools also. cheap kit but will do good for a while

the other day at work i made an engine stand. never done any fab work or welding at all and did it all myself. first thing of metal ive ever built. i understand its funky to use the back mounts but seems ok to me.

also made my first seat pan its a little short imma make it like an inch and half longer and it should be good to go. i have a friend that does leather work and has some gator print leather im looking to go with

here are some pics of the motor, going to polish the covers and rocker boxes this weekend and pull it apart to do the top end and what not. tell me if you see anything wrong

I have wonder the same thing about the casting in the first photo. I have heard that its ethier for mounting a side car or they used it at the factory when they were building the frame
