blonkans build thread

Hey.

Thought i would start my own thread since i've been lurking for a while. I take pictures of my build anyways as i go along so why not share them.

We're talking about another one of those xs650s. This is going to be a motorcycle. Simple as that, haha. A motorcycle with a hardtail and simple yet effective solutions. I like them narrow looking bikes, so it'll be something towards that direction. It's a budget build, but still almost all my funds go towards the bike.

It also got a little brother, xs400 which is getting upgraded from last season. but main focus is on the "big bike".

Here are some pics to get this thread started.
The hardtail was done by calles chopperdelar in sweden using the stock frame.

not sure about the rear fender, i like the fat bob fender, the way it sits up. But i would like a sissybar, and that would probably look ridiculous. both are the wrong radius, but i plan on fixing that when i've decided. any input?

also made some distances for my forks to lower them.

the engraving was done because i need to practice, the first turned out ok. the second not ok, but i'll let it sit.

more pics on the way soon.

stay cool.

I've never really been a fan of the fat bob fenders. Did you have a rear wheel installed when you welded the hardtail up?

Will do that, just need to find an opening in my schedule when i have a car.
leaning towards the fat bob, it's been one of the original ideas from the start, and if I don't like it after a while i know that a flat fender looks ok.

I like them when they are bobbed, this is the pic that got me hooked and the look i'm going for:

I didn't do the hardtail, so no. no rear wheel installed.
Why did you ask? curios.

Still not a big fan, but it's a lot better

I asked about the hardtail because a friend just did his on his XS and says it's crooked. He thinks it's because of the metal expanding and him not having a wheel installed. I think it's because he's not that great of a welder, but I don't know jack about frame building.

It sure is, I need to remember the face mask the next time around though...

The seat-mount is a biltwell, bought it from lowbrow. http://tinyurl.com/6r8yyp8

cool! would like to see what you've done!
i have some friends in malmö that are from karlstad. never been though.
The hardtail is stretched about 10cm.

Today I started with the foot pegs. I've seen it done on some other chops, most recently inmotionphotographys xs650, where you use the stock foot pegs and cut them up. Then the plan is to weld it in place on the tab, and the two tabs together to make it secure.

Are those the stock foot pegs of a SX650? What diameter are the bolts connecting 'em to the frame?

Did the rear fender work out for ya?
