kz 400 carb swap

Hey all, relatively new here, been lurking for awhile tho. working on chopping my 79 KZ400B and have run into some carb problems. put pod filters and a Mac 2-1 exhaust on there (w/o the muffler for right now). i know the carbs need rejetted but from everything i've read the Keihin CV's aren't worth trying to rejet. i saw a set of Mikuni 30mm carbs on Dime City Cycles, and they are listed for a Honda CL350/360. will they work on my bike? or is 30mm to small?

Hate to hijack But I'd loooove to know the answer to this as well. I have a '76 and the p.o. put on a huge single mikuni carb and it's running like crap and I'm looking to replace it with something else.

Ok the 30s will probably be fine but they will run a bit lean to begin with I think. I would jet up before you ever start the bike to make sure you don't run too lean and then start tuning from there.

What size carb is on the single carb setup? also who made the manifold? The reason I ask abotu the manifold is that there are some really bad manifold ideas out there and if your carb is clean and tuned close you shouldnt have too much trouble as long as the manifold is not poorly designed or constructed.

I run a 34mm mikuni and aside from low oil or too much oil or any of the other stupid shit I have done to my motor it works fine. I can give you my jetting info tho I have a 3mm overbore and port and polish and a custom exhaust. So you will still need to do some tuning.
