You need to know how many kicks with the throttle wide open to reach maximum compression reading on a engine at room temp that hasn't been started IE dry. and them with oil sprayed on the cylinder...

Did you ever get compression readings wet and dry?

Centering the A-dapter plates (as Johnny Cash said). Once they are centered I'll drill holes for the pins that will keep everything straight.

Timing it to the wrong points cam lobe will result in that behavior.

I ground some on a Craftsman 109 proly not as good a lathe as a Chinesey one. But doable! You will have to build a fixture to hold the grinder then you have to feed very slowly and supply the cooling...
