When I had mine done the axle was 3/4 in too long.figured out it was just a little twisted and narrowed at the axle plates.I think they pulled it out of the jig before it cooled...

all i can guess for it to be that tight is someone put loctight on it

i would use a press for the bearing.if you have them or get them why not go new

my 79 i tore it apart hard tailed it and made allot of the parts
my 73 is a re build tore it apart fixed or rebuilt everything

years ago i changed the front end to a 95 springer the brake on it had dot 5
i was rebuilding the rear and changed it to 5 also.think i will just rebuild it
and go 5 so both are the same and not...

bought the rear brake to put on a shovel don't have a sporty nor a book
i do have 6 books on shovel's though but only 2 shovels
