Jared Kushner has his own real estate company from which he supposedly divested when he decided to take a position in the White House as one of Trump’s advisers. His company is still going full throttle, though, which is raising eyebrows because of its questionable ethics. The company has been in China trying to woo wealthy investors for a project in New Jersey, and offering green cards in return.
And some involved with that event seem to be worried about what the press will say in an in-depth story. Reporters from the Washington Post were sent out of an event in Shanghai, with one researcher saying that she was “harassed and threatened,” and worse:

Journalists were initially seated at the back of the ballroom, but as the presentations got underway, a public-relations representative asked The Washington Post to leave, saying the presence of foreign reporters threatened the “stability” of the event.
At one point, organizers grabbed a reporter’s phone and backpack to try to force that person to leave. Later, as investors started leaving the ballroom, organizers physically surrounded attendees to prevent them from giving interviews.
Asked why reporters were asked to leave, a PR person who declined to identify herself said simply, “This is not the story we want.”
“This is not the story we want.” What does that even mean? It sounds like this PR person is saying that the company drives their media narrative and they don’t want to deal with critical stories that could make them look bad. The Post is one of the papers that Trump has blasted as “fake,” although not nearly as often as he has CNN and The New York Times. The Post makes no mention of whether other American outlets were pushed out, too.
What the Kushner family is offering to Chinese investors is known as an EB-5 visa, or “investors visa.” This particular visa program was supposed to encourage wealthy foreigners to invest in U.S. projects that would create jobs and strengthen communities. Invest a certain amount of money, and you get the chance to apply for a green card.
But companies like Kushner’s are using it less for that and more to finance their flashy projects that don’t create very many jobs, let alone help grow communities. And the ethical questions surrounding this boil down to whether or not these investors want to jump on board because of Jared’s proximity to Donald Trump.
Can we say corruption?
Maybe the PR person didn’t want the Post reporting more details lest they shine yet another uncomfortable light on shady things that have to do with Trump.

It’s extremely easy to tell when Donald Trump is drowning in stress over something. His Twitter activity ramps up and becomes even more bizarre as usual, and his lies and accusations get even crazier. He does everything in his power to point fingers elsewhere and take the heat off of himself. Today was no exception, as Trump showed America just how concerned he is about the scheduled testimony of former acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
Just hours before Yates was scheduled to testify that she’d given Trump’s administration a warning about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Trump accused Yates of committing a felony. That’s right – Yates tried to warn Trump and his minions that Flynn might be a compromised member of the team, and the POTUS repays her by not only firing her, but accusing her of committing a crime. Sounds about right.
Trump sent out a tweet earlier today that suggested Yates had committed a crime when he said someone should “ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Council (sic).” As usual, Trump had to delete the original tweet because of a simple spelling error.

Of course, much like his wiretapping accusations against former President Barack Obama, Trump couldn’t give any evidence to back up why he was accusing Yates. The White House is already working to establish their innocence in the Russia scandal in response to Sally Yates’ and James Clapper’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Axios released the White House’s plan to smear Yates and throw Michael Flynn to the wolves for the purpose of maintaining their total, pure-white innocence, and it’s just flat-out disgusting.
First on their agenda: Discredit Sally Yates:
Brand Yates as a Democratic operative who was out to get Trump from the beginning and willing to torque the facts to advance her agenda.
That’s their line about everyone who might make the Trump administration look like the corrupt, treasonous group they are. “Oh, it’s the Democrats, they hate us, they’re out to get us, the deep state is here and actively undermining us, blah blah blah blah blabbity blabbity blah.” Every time.
Yates has been a U.S. attorney for more than twenty years and has made a reputation for herself as impartial and non-partisan. During her time at the Dept. of Justice, she believed in pursuing justice over counting the number of cases she brought to federal court. Since she was the deputy Attorney General under Obama, though, she’s obviously part of the vast, deep-state conspiracy the Trump administration keeps trying to spin whenever they’re getting into hot water.
The Trump administration is afraid of her testimony – they tried to block her testimony earlier this year.
For Michael Flynn, well, they’re going to try and distance put distance between him and anyone whose association with him will look bad for them. Then they’ll just let him twist in the wind and pretend he hanged himself:
“Portray Flynn, and no one else, as responsible for this mess.” So they’ll continue to deny that the Obama administration warned them about Flynn and that Pence knew about Flynn’s misconduct. They’ll act like Flynn was trying to get Trump to follow his agenda and really, that everyone was unwittingly just along for the ride.

With the temperature rising on the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, one person who is definitely feeling the heat and not handling it well is Donald Trump.
He started off the day on Monday by trying to shift blame regarding General Flynn and attempting to throw former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, whom he fired for upholding the Consitution, under the bus:

Today, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, the AG that Donald Trump fired because she had the guts to resist his disgusting travel ban, testified on the ties between Trump’s administration and Russia. It was a testimony that had Trump practically sh*tting his pants in fear, but it’s making waves around the internet for another reason – mainly because Yates humiliated the crap out of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) when he tried to make her look stupid.
Cruz had tried to embarrass her and said that Yates’ resistance of Trump’s travel ban was “defying” the president. The failed 2016 GOP candidate then asked Yates if she was “familiar with 8 U.S.C. Section 1182.” When Yates said she wasn’t off the top of her head, Cruz belittled her:
Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination so it certainly is a relevant and not terribly obscure statute. Would you agree that that is broad statutory authorization?”
What happened next will haunt Cruz for the rest of his life. Yates absolutely schooled him:
I would, and I am familiar with that and I’m also familiar with an additional provision of the INA that says, ‘No person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a VISA because of race, nationality or place of birth
That, I believe, was promulgated after the statute that you just quoted. And that’s been part of the discussion with the court with respect to the INA, is whether this more specific statute trumps the first one that you just described.
But my concern here was not an INA concern, it rather was a constitutional concern. Whether or not the executive order here violated the constitution, specifically with the establishment clause and due process.”
Yates sent a message to all GOPers when she made an example out of Cruz. As she put Cruz in his place, MSNBC national security analyst Matthew Miller couldn’t help but ask:
Does Yates get to be the new Senator from Texas? Because she just beat both Cruz and Cornyn to a pulp.”

In reality, Yates confirmed under oath that she warned the white House that Flynn was compromised and that Trump’s former national security advisor was not fired until 18 days later despite the known national security risk. That’s pretty huge, as Trump will learn in his eventual impeachment hearings.
Trump is correct that surveillance is a big story in that it’s interesting that pretty much every single Republican seemed more concerned with “unmasking” than the Trump administration’s misdeeds. The “FAKE NEWS” will almost assuredly be reporting on that in the coming days.
To be clear, Clapper did not say there was zero evidence of collusion, and this “taxpayer funded charade” will end when the truth comes out.

At first, Trump appeared to cozy up to Comey following the letter he released to Congress suggesting that an investigation was reopening in regards to Hillary Clinton’s email servers, when in fact, no new revelations came from that. Trump changed his tune on Twitter after Clinton said the Comey letter harmed her chances of winning the election.
“FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?” Trump wrote in two tweets on May 2nd.
Still yet, Spicer said that Trump had confidence in Comey. And then today, Trump fired the man who is investigating him.
