As far as the claim that yesterday "women of color came under attack of his staff" (paraphrasing) I saw the briefing and if you would consider that an attack on women of color you are a special snowflake. The black female reporter had questions and the press sec. was answering them. Pure bullshit and way overblown, like most of the shit put out by the left.

Now might be a good time to revisit some of the grand and inspiring rhetoric with which Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign in 2015. “I’ve watched the politicians,” Trump said then. “I’ve dealt with them all. If you can’t make a good deal with a politician, then there’s something wrong with you. You’re certainly not very good.”
Or maybe we should go back to the first Republican debate in Cleveland, when Trump flatly asserted, “Our leaders are stupid, our politicians are stupid,” while eight of those politicians stood mute onstage and grinned stupidly, because everybody knew Trump couldn’t really be the nominee anyway, so why make a whole big scene by refusing to be bullied and berated.
You’ve got to wonder if some of those guys took just a little satisfaction last week in watching Trump fail to cut a deal with his own party on health care. You have to imagine that Jeb Bush or John Kasich was sitting in front of the TV thinking to himself: “Welcome to the NFL, genius.”
Because right about now it should be dawning on Trump that politics isn’t just business for stupid people. There’s a reason so little gets done.
I’m not saying Trump doesn’t bring undervalued skills to the presidency, because he does. A guy who’s put together megadeals in real estate or entertainment is going to come at a political problem more strategically and maybe more pragmatically than some of the career legislators I’ve known, who probably couldn’t win a negotiation over bedtime with my 9-year-old.
But anyone who’s had considerable success in both business and politics — and I spoke to a few leaders like that this week — could have told Trump that ramming legislation through Congress isn’t the same thing as raising up a casino or a high-rise. The principles that work in one arena don’t necessarily translate to the other.
In real estate, even a deal that’s unusually complex is a relatively straightforward proposition. Everybody wants to make money — either off selling land or developing it. Everybody has something the other guy wants. You negotiate your way to the bottom of the market, and then you run the numbers.
There’s always another house, or tract of land, or car — that’s the psychology behind all smart business negotiation. If you’re not willing to set your final terms and walk away, you’re not coming out a winner.
A negotiation like the one Trump just bungled, though, is more like buying a building from a small army of owners rather than one or two, and all of them split into factions that have entirely different agendas.
“You’ve got to get 218 votes, and any individual or small group can be a holdup or pop up with some new requirement,” Mark Warner, who made a fortune off mobile phones before becoming Virginia’s governor and then senator, told me. “It’s a little like whack-a-mole.”
In politics, there isn’t always — or ever — another Congress you can turn to. It’s this law or no law, which means you can’t just lay down your terms and walk away, as Trump tried to do. You have to keep coming back at it, and you have to realize that some of the factions may have zero interest in getting to yes, which is really never true in a business negotiation.
As Johnny Isakson, a senator who built a real estate business in Georgia, puts it: “I sold thousands of houses over the years, and I never sold a house to someone who didn’t want to buy it, and I never bought a house from someone who didn’t want to sell.”
In business, your leverage is always the money you bring to the table or some essential resource you control. In Congress, especially in the age after earmarks, the only real pressure you bring to bear as president is the public will.
You can’t do much cajoling or threatening of reluctant legislators if you’re boasting a 36 percent approval rating, and you can’t just call up the public approval bank and borrow another 10 points at a discounted rate.
Plenty of people will enter into a real estate deal with a guy they don’t like — even if he has a reputation for filing frivolous lawsuits and welching on contractors. In the political arena, trust and constancy are the only tradable currencies. The shiftier and more erratic you seem, the less anyone feels like betting his future on your soothing assurances.
And, unlike in most secretive business deals, the various offers and counteroffers in Washington are played out in public, which means whatever you do to win votes among one faction will cost you support in another as soon as you hang up the phone.
Let’s be clear: Trump isn’t the first president to find all this hard to navigate. Our last three presidents had decades of political experience between them, and all of them stumbled through missteps in their opening months, squandering their governing majorities in the process.
If Trump’s half as smart as he’s always telling us he is, then he has more than enough capacity to get this right. He still has plenty of time to go back to the table and put together a health care deal that passes.
The problem for Trump is that he doesn’t seem to have learned any cautionary lessons from the experience. He still seems to think there’s nothing wrong with his nascent administration that can’t be fixed by a few bromides from “The Art of the Deal.”
Practically the first thing Trump did after watching the health care bill crash and burn was to announce a new initiative aimed at making government run more like a business. This he entrusted to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who used to control a tiny newspaper and a bunch of real estate that he bought with his dad’s money, but who now has a White House portfolio that includes negotiating Middle East peace and reinventing trade policy.
It’s all right, though, because Jared majored in government at Harvard, so he knows what he’s doing. Also, you can’t blame him for the health care debacle, since he was off skiing in Aspen while it was falling apart.
What Trump needs now isn’t the comfort of family. What he needs is to take a look around and realize that his Team of Amateurs (don’t even think about stealing that, Doris Kearns Goodwin) isn’t up to running a White House. He needs to put a few people around him, like maybe his pal Chris Christie, who have some grasp of the tradecraft of politics and know something about governing.
It’s time for Trump to put away all that crowd-pleasing contempt and admit that politics is actually just as hard as business, if not harder, and he’s not exactly killing it like Lyndon Johnson.
It doesn’t look like he’s ready to do that, though. And if I were one of those accomplished politicians Trump slammed onstage at that first debate and many times after, I’d be tempted to call him now and remind him of an old movie line.

This morning President Donald Trump took his Twitter rants to a whole new level. He has New York Times fixation, and often criticizes their coverage of him (mainly because they call out his lies and don’t stroke his ego). He calls the paper “failing” despite it doubling subscriptions in 2016.
Today, the anti-Times obsession took a darker turn. Trump suggested changing libel laws, presumably to allow him to sue the press for political coverage that he doesn’t like. This is how dictators operate.

Libel laws protect citizens from false defamatory speech. However, they apply differently to public figures, like politicians. This ensures that people who are important in public life can be freely covered by the press and freely debated by the public. Libel laws only apply to public figures if the standard of “actual malice” is met.
Trump’s suggestion that he will pursue expanding libel laws to equally cover public figures is worrying. It would allow the Administration to crackdown on any press coverage they didn’t like and sue media outlets that Trump (falsely) claims are “FAKE NEWS.”
America is a liberal democracy based on a Constitution ensuring checks and balances of government powers and basic liberties for citizens. Trump is trying to concentrate power in the White House and restrict the freedom of press and freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment.
An American president is open to public scrutiny from all sides. This is foundational because it holds our elected officials accountable and ensures that any unsavory truths can be uncovered.
Dictators have the luxury of forcing media to push the party line and only give positive coverage. That is what un-American, egomaniac Trump aspires to.
The resistance has to step up if we want American democracy to survive the next four years.
Wow, boy is Trump satan or what ? I'm sure he'll have all this smoothed out on his second term.

The Wall Street Journal first reported Thursday that Flynn was in talks to try to get a promise of immunity, but that nobody had agreed to his terms yet.
However, aides to the House intelligence committee said they have not received any requests from Flynn yet. A spokesperson for the Senate intelligence committee declined comment Thursday evening.
Flynn was forced to resign as one of Trump's closest advisers after it came out that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about his communications with Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak.
Three former Trump aides who are at the center of the federal investigation into Russia's interference in the US elections have already come forward and said they would testify freely -- without the promise of immunity. Former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former adviser Roger Stone and former foreign policy adviser Carter Page all said, via their lawyers, last week that they were ready to come before House and Senate investigators.
House investigators have been discussing bringing Flynn in for weeks now, but they have also expressed concerns that Flynn would plead the Fifth Amendment if forced to testify.
Democrats, meanwhile, quickly shot around a comment Flynn made last year on MSNBC, that "when you are given immunity, that means you probably committed a crime."

Adults in eight states and Washington D.C., can legally consume marijuana, and that could soon change to adults in all 50 states. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., recently introduced a bill that would make marijuana federally legal and allow the plant to be regulated as alcohol is in the U.S.
Under the new bill, called the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act, the plant would be removed from its Schedule I listing on the Controlled Substances List and would be regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Adults 21 and up would be able to purchase and consume cannabis legally across the nation. Advertising rules similar to those regarding alcohol would also apply to marijuana under the bill.
The Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act is part of a package of three cannabis-related bills introduced Thursday by members of the Cannabis Caucus in the House of Representatives, of which Polis is a member along with Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore. and Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., who also sponsored the measures.
In addition to regulating marijuana similar to alcohol in the U.S., the bills would change the way marijuana is taxed and allow researchers to study the plant without restrictions. As for medical use of the plant, the bills call for the Department of Veterans Affairs to make recommendations on how cannabis should be used as treatment.
In a statement, Polis, who helped pushed recreational marijuana legislation in Colorado, said the state has demonstrated the benefits of ending marijuana prohibition.
“Colorado has proven that allowing responsible adults to legally purchase marijuana, gives money to classrooms, not cartels; creates jobs, not addicts; and boosts our economy, not our prison population,” he said. “Now, more than ever, it is time we end the federal prohibition on marijuana and remove barriers for states that have chosen to legalize marijuana. This budding industry can’t afford to be stifled by the [President Donald] Trump administration and its mixed-messages about marijuana. The cannabis industry, states, and citizens deserve leadership when it comes to marijuana.”
Polis introduced a similar bill in 2015 that was rejected. However, now that marijuana is legal in some form in 29 states and Americans increasingly support cannabis legalization, Polis is confident the bill could make it to Trump's desk for approval.

Have a daughter in Colorado, her and her snowboard buddies are not into pot, but when I went to visit I had a nice fat doobie. For the next 4 hours my Rheumatoid Arthritis was completely manageable with no other drugs, not even aspirin. Unfortunately I have a job where they do drug test so I didn't bother to bring any home with me, but man I would be in line in a hurry if they legalized it. The pain meds I take cost a fortune ( part of why insurance rates keep going up ) so I am sure the drug companies are going to fight this tooth and nail. ( As well as the alcohol groups )

Sorry Mr. Hammer. You don't have enough of a crystal ball to know if I was looking out for my own ideologies or thinking of everybody. I spent a good part of my life also working in the middle east as a military contractor. Wasn't looking for my own comfort then either. Trump needs to stop tweeting period in my opinion but it won't happen. It is his only way to reply to his daily bashing on the media, right or wrong. Russia had more reasons to want Hildabeast over Trump. These hearings will net not much but there is plenty of shit for the left wings to take a fall. Flynn is a lifelong democrat and the democrats are well know for eating their own. The democrats need to worry about their base and getting stronger.
