So yeah..

Found ChopCult the other day while doing some research. Its neat-o.

I have been building race cars for several years, and have transitioned to rods, then to rat rods, now to bikes. I have built a few. I am very lucky to have a full machine shop with ample warehouse/shop space for my needs. No garage builds for me.

I have just started a new project I hope to have done in a few weeks. I picked it up off of craigslist. It was a flood damage bike. Engine locked up tighter than your 18 year old virgin daughter. I have already finished disassembly. And am now on my way to fab/assembly. I have already smoothed the frame, and the tank in the picture is a old Yamaha tank that I will be using. So yeah. I have no real plans on which direction I was going to take this build, so I am just going one step at a time doing what I think looks good. If you think otherwise you can go see a curb dentist.

Hello all, Just signed up because I like the style you guys ride. I been riding for more years then I want to admit, all makes and style. I'm building a Trike now but it's all custom and about as close to a bobber as I could get.

What's up, everyone.

I'm from Argentina, Buenos Aires. If you don't get the location, it's at the south of South America. I'm pretty new into the motorcycles, but the bobbers are making me wet. I'm thinking about getting one motorcycle as well, but my first mission is to ride on it and learn to ride on it, since in my times, I used to ride bicycles and I got my elbows and such screwed up and gave up until now, that I'm eight-teen.

Been lurking here for a long time, figured it's about time to do an intro and get to posting. I'm in the process of getting my 73 XLH on the road after 2 long years of it sitting in pieces in an unheated overcrowded garage...getting pretty damned tired of Illinois' long shitty winters. I'll post some pics at some point in the near future whenever I can remember to get around to it. thanks guys

Whatz going on? I picked up a 1983 Yamaha Virago for a bobber project. It's not running but so far I've come across a bad rectifier and I'm in the middle of swapping in the working one. I'm gonna get it running first then off to the chopping the tail off and what nots. If anybody has any good ideas or pics I would appreciate any guidance. I have considered completely rewiring the whole thing. If anyone has a wiring diagram they have tested please feel free to send it my way. Thanks. Looking forward to this project and this cool web site.

"I can come here though."
"Oh, yes. We're not cloistered."
"Let's drop the war."
"It's very hard. There's no place to drop it."
"Let's drop it anyway."
"All right."
We looked at each other in the dark. I thought she was very beautiful and I took her hand. She let me take it and I held it and put my arm around under her arm.
"No," she<a href="http://www.cheapjewelrytop.com" title=" Costume Jewelry">Costume Jewelry</a> said. I kept my arm where it was.
"Why not?"
"No."
"Yes," I said. "Please." I leaned forward in the dark to kiss her and there was a sharp stinging flash. She had slapped my face hard. Her hand had hit my nose and eyes, and tears came in my eyes from the reflex.
"I'm so sorry," she said. I felt I had a certain advantage.
"You were quite right."
"I'm dreadfully sorry," she said. "I just couldn't stand the nurse's-eveningoff aspect of it. I didn't mean to hurt you. I did hurt you, didn't I?"
She was looking at me in <a href="http://www.cheapjewelrytop.com" title=" Costume Jewelry">Costume Jewelry</a>the dark. I was angry and yet certain, seeing it all ahead like the moves in a chess game.
"You did exactly right," I said. "I don't mind at all."
"Poor man."
"You see I've been leading a sort of a funny life. And I never even talk English. And then you are so very beautiful." I looked at her.

"You don't need to say a lot of nonsense. I said I was sorry. We do get along."
"Yes," I said. "And we have gotten away from the war."
She laughed. It <a href="http://www.cheapjewelrytop.com" title="fashion Jewelry">Fashion Jewelry</a>was the first time I had ever heard her laugh. I watched her face.
"You are sweet," she said.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes. You are a dear. I'd be glad to kiss you if you don't mind."
I looked in her eyes and put my arm around her as I had before and kissed her. I kissed her hard and held her tight and tried to open her lips; they were closed tight. I was still angry and as I held her suddenly she shivered. I held her close against me<a href="http://www.cheapjewelrytop.com" title="fashion Jewelry">Fashion Jewelry</a> and could feel her heart beating and her lips opened and her head went back against my hand and then she was crying on my shoulder.
"Oh, darling," she said. "You will be good to me, won't you?"
What the hell, I thought. I stroked her hair and patted her shoulder. She was crying.
"You will, won't you?" She looked up at me. "Because we're going to have a strange life."

Been checking this site out for a while now and I realy like wat I've seen and read so far, so I figured I'd intruduce myself. My name is matty, I live in the netherlands. I've been into choppers and motorcycles in general since forever. But since you can't ride most motorcycles around here till you're 21, and I am 21, I only just started riding. I workerd my ass off to be able to buy a yamaha virago 535 back when I was 18 'cause I thought it looked cool, but now that I can (legaly) ride it, I found out that it realy isn't chop friendly. That, and the fact that I'm a moron when it comes to wrenching isn't going to stop me from trying to make it into something I like though. I'm looking forward to posting lots of dumb motorcycle related questions that will make you people go "is this guy retarded"?

Hey there.

Ran into you guys after I ran into a car: wrecked my bike and wrecked my hand.

But since I was pretty much at the limit with removing parts from my CB750, this might be a good thing - now I can chop it up and make something new out of it!

I came from the sohc4 forums, pretty good bunch. Hope to find a nice community here.

So I'm a guy from Finland who likes bikes. Been at it for some 3-4 yrs now, trying everything and learning most things the hard way. Currently got a BSA 500 thumper, triumph 500 chop and am working on a '69 xlch that will become.. something. Dunno yet, but I made a rigid out of it, got me a stock 45 springer and a mag, so it might turn out nice. Maybe. Mostly trying to get the daytona back on the road tho.

We recently started up a blog. Check it out.

Been lurking for awhile but I figure I should be a useful member of this society so here it is.

Alex, 24. Portsmouth, VA. Bought my first bike in September of last year and only rode it for about 2 and a half months before I started choppin'. Grew up around bikes and fucked around with dirt bikes/3 wheelers/quads/go karts as a kid. Always wanted a bike but didn't have a place to keep or afford one until I bought a house. (thanks for the 8 grand Uncle Sam)

Don't have any decent pics other than this of the Sporty as of right now.

I just bought my first bike this spring, a 1980 XS1100. 2 months later, and I've filled a corner of my garage with all the extra parts, wires and junk that I've pulled off this bike...

Time to start welding soon, and I'm thinking about re-fabricating the back half of the frame to hard tail it... which I hear can be a bitch with a shaft driven bike.

Look for me tearing around Portland by the end of the summer, cause' I'll do whatever it takes to finish this bike in the middle of our siding/window/bathroom remodel!

I joined up awhile back but never properly introduced myself. I'm Ralph and one of the most cantankerous retred machinist you'll meet but I love building and riding bikes.I've been riding (mostly Triumphs) for 47 years, but I never owned a Harley. Thanks to the cult I do now. Since I like to peel the eyeballs back I decided I needed a sporty,so I started a thread called Which one since I knew nothing about Harleys. If you read that thread you'll see the cc did not let me down, Because of input from members (either directly to the thread or indirectly through the forums I've read) I've wound up with a good bike to build, Problem solved THANKS CULT!! Now I've got anew problem. After buying my bike I went back to the thread to say thanks and to show them the bike we bought but I can't upload any pictures and can't figure out why. I cliked upload photos and did everything asked or recommended but all L get is the box with an x in it. I think that with 50 years of machining experience I can make a decent contribution to the cc forums but not being able to show photos will surley make that a bit more difficult. Enough BS. I need help. any ideas? Thanks Ralph

Hi, I'm Niels a.k.a. Nisse. I'm 35, from The Netherlands, blablabla, I like to f*ck up perfectly, goodworking bikes and turn them into crappy running machines hated by the masses.
Here are my current bikes/projects/worries/love-hate relationships.

This is my 'daily ride' that runs like crap at the moment due to flow problems in the roundtubing based manifold. It an Yamaha Vstar that I've had since it let the line in 97. I hate it but yet it doesnt seems to get out of my life & shed. So I chopped the frame, from 2 back bones to 1, some nice painted tins, super E carb., done... sort of... look beter now with fishtails and shit...

Hope to start a next project soon, thinking about a 4gearframed evo, the CF fender 've laying around, a nice narrow springer and some silly 80's paint job...

I've know about chopcult since it started but was to busy to keep up with all that hapens on the net. I like meeting up etc. But I was told this is a goodplace to be but I doubt that I'll be of any value to all of you.

thanx,.

Just reading through the cool threads and checking the vidios. Name is Johnny Arial and I am one of the owners of allmetalshaping.com. I'm pretty much interested in anything that is made from nothing or cut up and changed so it is a one off. Build more Rods then I do cycles. Really interested in metal shaping, I consider myself a rookie but I usually fumble my way through most panels.

other then that I usually surf the web looking for interesting articals to read, beats the hell out of watching TV.

Here is a sample of what I do.

Hey,

New to the forum from PA. I've been slowly changing my '99 FXST since I inherited in in 2003. The pic is on here somewhere. Don't wanna get too crazy with it since it was my Dad's. I've been looking for new ideas since it seems like HD's are getting pretty "cookie cutter" lately. Awesome site, there's some wicked parts and ideas on here. So far I've seen a lot of ambitious and talented people. Reading these threads and looking at everything has definitely got my wheels turning.

Take care and watch out for idiots on cell phones!!!

Yo yo.. Been lurking for a while but the one time I tried to post it quickly disappeared so I figured perhaps I offended someone with it being my first post.. :)

Anywho..

My first bike build was a shaft drive XS750. Had tons o fun building it and it's gone through 3 different iterations as I learned more about what I like. Liked it so much I picked up a cheap CB550 and spent a year making a cafe out of it. Now I've got another Xs750 on a frame jig with aspirations of making something "special" with it, whatever that might be. I understand the chain thing, but shaft drive bikes should get some love too.

I enjoy getting $100 POS bikes from craigslist and making something cool out of them for little money.

I don't keep build journals in forums cause I think they get too muddied up with comments and junk, but if you're interested in seeing my journals externally, hit me up and I'll send you the URL.

love the CC!

Hey there folks, I've been lurking around a while now. My ride is a 73 FLH that is steadily losing weight. It was loaded down with chrome garbage and bags and a windshield and chrome wheels when I got it. Found a set of fatboy mags for cheap, and its kinda become a fatboy in a swingarm frame shovel. Not necessarily super chopper/bobbery, but it kinda has a ratrod musclebike look to it. Who knows what it'll end up being, I have this sickness where I can't leave it alone so its always changing somehow or other. http://shovelhead.us/forum/picture.php?albumid=1290&pictureid=6959

Hello All,

I generally drift from site to site, depending on what I'm building. Probably spend too much time online looking at pics/ chasing parts/ and daydreaming like the rest of you, but I get stuff done from time to time.

I built this Sporty a few years ago:

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z134/crush1776/harley/DSC00613.jpg

Currently finishing up this xs400 (I tell my GF it's for her):

And the latest project I have acquired ('67 T100):

Thanks in advance for the info and bike porn yo!

Hello all, FNG (kinda) been a member for awhile, lurked for a long time.

I live in SW Indiana, retired-disabled Vet, grew up in a machine shop as the family business way back in the late 70's early 80's.

Built a few ground up bikes, lucky enough to have a nice shop, with a lathe, mill, mig, tig, etc.

Not a real innovator, (I just steal ideas from others) williing to help out a fellow builder, fabricator, bike nut, hot rodder if I can.

Looking forward to posting and getting to know the folks here.

I've got bike projects littering my barn from about every country besides GB (I plan to change that soon) in stages ranging from basket case to daily rider. I dig everything with wheels or an engine and I'm glad to be a part of Chop Cult.

I read all the threads, (even the intros,)regardless of the insanity that may ensue. I've never had a motorcycle endorsement on my license, but that never stopped me from riding the hell out of 'em. (Hell,I didnt have a regular license for the first 8 years of driving, slowed me down a few times, but never stopped me from driving, tho it was costly when I did get it *4x suspended) I've read The Horse for many years, but never got into their forums. Some different mags that are represented through CC are, Dice , GKM ,Show Class , check them out! So many awesome folks here ,this forum kicks ass! Welcome to the CC

What's up people. I'm 30 and attend MMI in Orlando.

I have a 72 Ironhead, the first day I got it home I stripped out the wiring and completely rewired it because it was all hacked up, tons of tape, wiring nuts, bare splices, you name it...

Rode it for about 2 months before I blew a hole in the rear piston doing about 95 on Florida's turnpike. I'm thinking 95 might be a bit too quick for a 4 speed stock ironhead :D

So now i'm in the process of rebuilding the motor and hardtailing the frame. I'm doing a bolt on because i've only welded like twice in my life and i'm not ready to die yet. as for the other fab work, i'm gonna go for it... if it turns out shitty at least i did it my self lol. i'll just do it again till i get it right.

However, since I don't need an introduction, I wont waste yours or my time. :p :asshat:

Bob here. Just signed on. Been riding and wrenchin' on bikes since 1963. I've owned just about every make of bike at one time or another, but mostly British bikes and Harleys. Do all my own work including welding and machine work. I'm the quiet type, so I'm gonna shut up, hang around a while, and get a feel for this place.

Been lurking on this site for about a year but looking to take a more active role soon. I am an American living in Thailand. I came out here to do more metal sculpture and longbike type stuff but the reality of the roads out here (and my back) is that long bikes, hardtails, and big rakes just wont work so I have been getting more into function over form and steel over billet and having a blast with it.

got my first sporty on a non-stop weekend road trip to iowa and back. 1800 miles in a 12 person passenger van, with the seats stripped, out in a couple of days... and peeing in a pee cup.... was easily worth it.

first time i hit a highway on it was to meet my buddy in richmond, and then ride back to rockville.... hours and hours and hours of riding. definitely rode a good 80 something miles without a shift peg 'cause it fell off on the way back.... again easily worth it.

first road trip was to daytona florida for bike week.... a couple of days of riding. super sore ass wasnt too bad in the grand scheme of things. although i did auto train it back like a biah.

still taking the bike out as much as possible, still piece by piece making it MY dream bike, and still loving every disapproving look i get from a parent as their kid sweats on me and my bike.

not an internet guy and i dont even own a computer... but im glad i got this site to help me keep on keeping on.... and so i dont have to keep calling my boy every other day with the "whats the best way to go about doing ____?" questions.

go hard or go home! ROCKCITY in the house!

Hey guys, any room for a Softail owner in here? My name is Rob from Texas and I am almost finished with a "re-build" on a 2001 FXST that was given to my by my late Uncle. This is my first bike and six months of riding I was hit from behind and the bike and my face was totalled. I bought the bike back from the insurance company because I knew I could fix it and I wanted it to stay in the family. I joined the Jockey Journal and started reading and learning all I could, then when I started the re-build I posted a pic and thats when shit hit the fan, evedently their cutoff is with Softails? Oh well, so a fellow Chop Cult member turned me onto this site and said I might fit in better over here. Ive included a couple of pics to show you what I started with and where I'm at now with the bike. All the work has been done by me and a couple of really good friends, Please let me know if there is room for me here as I would like to be a member. I am hooked now and are already dreaming of building a rigid bike. Here is a pic of the wrecked bike and in its current state.

Was reading CycleSource and saw a mention of ChopCult. Checked it out and have to say I'm impressed with the creativity and talent many folks are are showing. I've been riding bikes ever since I hopped on my brothers mini bike at 5 years old. Raced MotoX, XCountry and HareScrambles. Got in to street bikes about 10 years ago. Yes, I'm an old fart. Currentlly own a 05 Road Glide and a 90 Sportster displacing 90" thanks to the fine folks at NRHS. Has stage 3 porting on Buell heads, machined for larger valves and high lift cams, Andrews V8 cams, CP Hurricane pistons,S&S Rods, Shaved and balanced flywheel assembly, Crane roller rockers, Zippers Billet double row bearing trap door, Jims compression releases, 45 Mikuni on a Rivera tilt forward manifold, chin fairing oil bag by me, tracker style seat/fender by me and upholstered by "Texas Harley Seats" on Empire central in Dallas. It's a work in progress. They say an artists work is never done. :) I'll get some pics up when I get a chance.

Hey guys, I'm just a hillbilly from Idaho. I have been stalking this site for like a year or something like that. Every chance I get I'm on here jerkin it to all the awesome bikes and shit. Not much of a chopper scene around my town. People around here only know what they see on t.v. I'm working on my 2000 shadow rite now did some trimming on the rear. No front fender and threw on some z bars and pipes. Working my way to a Hd soon I hope. But i will keep on riding the wheels off my shadow for now. So if you find yourself in the Idaho pan handle look me up.

Hi everyone, New here. Heard about chopcult for a couple years on Lowbrow, JJ and mags, finaly signed up. Main ride is a custom T140 chop, but also have a stock TR6R, and a Modern 955i Triumph Sprint RS. I still have my first "road" bike too, an old KZ400 I bought in '90. They all run and have all been on the road at some point in the last year.

I just finished the T140 chop in January, and have been working the bugs out this summer. So far I've got about 700 miles on it, and have dealt with everything from oil sumping to plug fouling to fender splitting. It has been a real learning experience though, and every week it runs a little stronger. I'm sure I'll ask lots of dumb questions here and hopefully be able to answer some for others as we go. I'm always looking for people to ride with up here in Canada, south central Ontario to be exact, especially if you're on a bike you built yourself. Maybe I'll try to blog the T140 build, as I did a write up for Lowbrow Customs and the CVMG news and have hundreds of pics to go along with it, of every step of the way.

Well, thats about it. I am actually heading out to rip around town for a couple hours. Glad to be here.

Hey everybody,
All my friends call me “Floppy” Dick – long story involving a Fatboy and a very deep and unforgiving motherfucker of a ditch. Anyway, I live in Upstate South Carolina. I’m currently working on a Sportster bobber project in my very crowded garage. I’m looking for guys to ride with, so if you live anywhere near me, let me know. My friends and I try to ride as often as possible. Love this forum by the way.

Signed up a few months ago and couldn't remember if I did an intro.
Don't post much, mostly just read shit and try and learn as much as possible.

My daily rider is a '98 Honda Shadow ACE and I'm building a swing arm '79 XS650.
Been a car guy for years and have just recently in the past year really gotten into bikes, so much so I'm selling off all my cars to buy and build bikes.

Other wise I'm an aging punk in my 30's who plays music and every once in a while I try and break myself on a skateboard.

Currently riding a new Evo but have a long term 72' shovel project going, which is constantly fighting for attention with my 50' Chevy project and large amount of hours logged surfing Newps. Hey guys and dolls,

Pat here. CO w/ the BOP/DOJ and in general a music nut, wrench monkey, farm boy living in a concrete jungle (City of Shitcago), gun nut, etc.

Owned a few bikes over the years. Started w/ dirt and also raced go carts. Moved up to drag racing at 16 and then started autocross. Been bikeless for about 6 or 7 years but until recently (RIP Joe) could ride any of my buddy's Duc's so not owning a bike wasn't so bad b/c I could still get my fix. He passed away in April and working on getting his 748S. In the mean time I needed a new project.

Living in the city is a bitch for a gear head. I don't have a garage anymore so I knew whatever I'd get would be built in the back alley and in my studio apartment, two flights up. Found an 83 XS650 that needed some petcock and carb work but fired right up on the electronic ignition and was a 1 to 2 kicker.

Drove a Uhaul van over to Rockford, IL, plopped down $700 cash and loaded it up and brought it home. Now I'm in the tear down process and part ordering process.

I'll post a build thread in the Jap section here shortly. I've been lurking CC for the better part of a month now and taking in all the awesomeness that makes up CC.

See ya'll around.

Howdy.
I'm Gavin from Canada. I ride a sporty and have a project CB650 in the works.
This looks like the spot to be for my tastes: hand made parts, doing shit yourself and actually riding.
It seems to me that you've got the punk DIY spirit here focused into motorcycles and that's right on.

Hi, Folks.
I'm Gypsy. I was invited over here by a friend of a friend on another board. I signed up a week or two ago & just sorta lurked for a bit. However, this morning I checked my E & discovered I already got friended by Lowlife & 724Sean so, I guess it's time for an intro. ...And a pic of my ride!

Damnit! I was so busy looking at my ride I forgot to give my details. I grew up on the back of a '48 Cheif. Learned to ride dirt bikes & such while all that was going on. First street bike I rode was a Sporty bored out to 1300. First bike I owned outright was a '74 CB 750 four cylinder.
Since then, I've had a couple of Triumphs, an 1100 XS Yammy & assorted & sundry other bikes. Bought a new 1200 Sporty in '02. In '03 a friend was killed on it. Put it back up & rode it until '07, when I got hit by a local cop. Lost my left arm & it was three years until I got a settlement. That's when a friend built the "Chump Change" for me.
Before y'all say it...Before my wreck, I was a cerrtified aircraft mechanic (A&P) & I went to school for diesel mechs when I was a teenager. I know one end of a wrench from the other. Glad to meet y'all!

Just signed up, I like building bikes.

This is my industrial engined mini-bike with a chevrolet smog pump for supercharger, I built the entire bike with the exception of a couple of parts I bought, ie. muffler, seat pan, rims and floorboards.

I know you guys have been waiting breathlessly for me to join the forum here and add my pearls of wisdom. Well I am finally here and you all will immediately get the benefit of my massive brain.

Just kidding I don't know shit...

I just want to talk about making a bike go faster and then even faster or the latest way to customize your bike using the leftovers in a rattle can that you found in garage.

I have a rigid frame with an evo crate motor and tranny. It is my daily driver rain or shine. Its been up and running for awhile and thinking about changing it already into a pseudo WLA Liberator kinda modern version. Next week I'll have a different idea.

I live in Nor Cal I enjoy long walks on the beach, poetry, candle lit dinners whippin the wheels of my bike and I love great home made bikes regardless of their maker. If its cool and if it has elbow grease I'll like it. Guaranteed.

Been lurking on here for awhile now and figured it was time to actually make an intro. Just bought my first Harley at the beginning of summer. It's a 99 1200c. It doesn't look like anything special now but I got alot of plans for it. Mainly trying to work out all the kinks and stuff first. It's been a good ride so far though.

But I really love the bikes on this site so figured I'd stick, around for a bit.

doh!!! just discovered this intro thing , lil bit slow with computers anyway hello everyone ,yep I love bikes ,got my first one in 1969 so yea im a dinosaur.happy to help one and all ,please dont take offense at some of my comments but im a real deal down to earth biker and say whats on my mind.sometimes I say sick stuff and may be misunderstood ,harleys are my passion, but im not prejudiced, worked at a couple ships long ago.honda triumph bsa and will ride the shit out of anything.so looking forward to being here the jj is a little bit too goody goody for my taste ,I appreciate the freedoms this site affords ,like nudity ,the shit list, and being able to have fun with adult subject matter,as bikers most of us are a little more open minded.the other site felt like the christian boys club.any ways thats enough for now .Im goin ridin

Just noticed this intro section. Guess I should start paying attention! Haven't ridden in 10 years after I broke my CL450 and got sick of my sportbike, About to pick up an xs650 if the dmv gets their shit shit together. I'm Dave Young, retired in Northern New York. I've got a 1987 Harley FXR (evo) and a 1983 Harley FXSB (shovel), been riding since 1973.

This isn't the thread to advertise, but I have a small machine shop in my garage and make one-off motorcycle parts (extended carb idle screws, etc) to pay for upgrades to the shop and the Harley's.

ChEng in my screen name is a navy acronym for Chief Engineer. I was the Engineering Officer (Coast Guard term for ChEng) on a couple Coast Guard Cutters and I used the term as part of my computer password back in the day.

Hey dudes,

just wanted to say hey and ive been reading these boards and articles for awhile now and they inspired me to get out and do a 3200 mile ride from here in Victoria down through Vegas to BORN FREE 3...

That show pretty much lit a fire under my ass so when i got back home, me and a couple bros found a cheap garage space and went hunting for our "projects"..

For a total of 4000 canadian dollars heres what we got:

- 1976 xs650, looks alright but needs some carb work and some general cleaning up
- 1973 Ironhead, pretty much needs everything but the three of us have enough welding and mechanical experience to get it done... Plus ill be asking a shit load of stupid questions here...

thanks
j

Heres a couple shots of our project bikes.. and a link to a vid we made of our trip.... cheers

The engine kicks hard and am stoked at the price i got it for. My frame should be arriving this week from america (postage cost more than the frame itself) after which i can get stuck into getting my steed compliant to the insanely strict regulations of the state i live in.

Never done a build before but I'm keen to have a crack and learn some new shit.

My everyday bike is a 1983 yamaha xs 650. Dont know who had it before the guy that i bought it from but they did most of the mods to it. im just keeping it running and putting more money into it. Just spent another $250 on parts from mikes today. Anyway, try not to laugh at me TOO much. And chances are if you think im asking a dumb question on purpose to piss someone off, i probably really dont know the answer. thanks...

Hey all. I'm new here, so bare with me. Also new to this internet stuff, so not sure what I'm doing most the time. Thought I'd join this site in hopes of sharing a few build ideas and finding a few new ones. My daily rider is a 1960 Panhead. It runs like a scalded rat. regeared to run at 75 mph all day. It's a daily rider you'll see oil, scratches and me wrenching on it most the time. I'm worse than the postman, "no rain, snow, sleet or hail, keeps me off this thing. Yeah I'm that Asshole you see walking in the bar with a frozen mustache.

1960 Panhead
1957 FL Frame
84 wide glide front end
2005 Road king rear brake set up (modified)
Home made seat spring mounts
Ulima 6 speed tranny (had to cut the oil tank)
Mid 60's peanut tank

Once I figure out how to resize pics, I'll post more.

Anyone in Ohio, hitting swap meets, or knowledge of ones, trading parts, selling parts, hit me up

What's up. Obviously I'm new here, so far I really like this place, the overall attitude is awesome, and the tech articles are great. I ride a 1984 Honda Magna 1100. I plan on bobbing it this winter, I know its not the easiest motorcycle to bob, but thats one of the things that makes me want to do it. So far I've put Clubman style bars on it, painted it, redid the sissy bar, polished various bits, made straight pipe for it, new turn signals front and rear, and added bar end mirrors.

What it looked like when I got it:

Hey Ya'll...Just found this place??? How dare ya'll be having this much fun without me....

I'm just a DWB (Dirt White Boy) in Trashville, TN...I live for by family friends and country...
Mostly for my dog though, for which he agrees to put up with all the bullshit, including and not limited to: hookers, guns, motorcycles in the house and lots of partying...We still have a good time...
Love to build motorcycles, chop hotrods, in the process opening a roadhouse BBQ joint in Whites Creek TN THE HOT ROD GRILLE, COMON DOWN...generally setting a good bad example most of the time...

Hey all...

Been lurking so I figured I would do a intro.

I currently don't have a bike. I had a XS650 basket case project a few years ago that had to get rid of but I want to do a different bike at some point. Of course I am looking at getting a Sporty. Doesn't everyone? :p

I really I dig all things vintage. House, furniture, cars, bikes, travel trailers. Doesn't matter. I dig it all.

However I like the reliability of newer bikes. I would like to mod a newer bike to fit my style. I have a tendency to research the SHIT out of whatever I am interested in. Maybe to a fault. I really don't like doing anything where I am spending dough without a decent plan. That is why I like places like Chop Cult because I can learn before I do.

The bike will have to wait awhile for me to finish my current project. Our 1964 Shasta 16SC travel trailer...
http://1964shastalouise.blogspot.com/

Again, because I research and research before I start something I had a lot of problems finding info on Shastas. Sooo... I started my own Shasta forum...
http://vintageshasta.proboards.com/

Once that is done we have to build a garage. So the process won't be anytime soon.

I am sure I will have a bunch of dumb ass questions that I hope others can help me with.

Oh, and I am in Madison, WI area if it matters.

Later...

Hey guys,
Thought I should actually post something seeing as I have been lurking on here for a while.
My name is David and I am from Melbourne, Australia. Love the forum and attitude of the members.
I am probably the newbest newb in newb town. I am just converting to the two wheel motored thing and have been mainly into old cars. I have jus finished my first major ground up car build, a 1972 (not that old but as old as I can afford) Mini Clubman panelvan. It is pretty cool. Hankering to get a bike but will have to make do copping an eye full on all the sweet scoots on here till I can scrape the cash together to start something.

Howdy all!

I'm Nathan from Bournemouth, the not so sunny UK. I currently don't have a ride on the road as my eliminator is bust and I just sold my only actually working bike to fund a road trip across California in two weeks. I'm also working on my '71 hardtailed Triumph trophy 650, its 'almost' there but my attention has been re-directed this summer by my '72 Dodge D100 pickup truck that I've been trying to rebuild in time to sell to fund the roadtrip. So far, I've failed (I'm blaming the english weather hindering me), thus my main bike going....

Anyho - the kinda shit on here is the kinda shit I like.

I'm just about to enter my final year at uni studying mechanical and electrical engineering and work inbetween on the motorsickles at Battistinis.

Be cool mo fo's.

Okay....intro goes here, I guess. Name's Mike, currently in New Orleans but that'll prolly change soon.

I got started tinkering on bikes as a teenage punk in Detroit, but went a long time without. This spring, I picked up an 883n, and it didn't take long for me to start looking for ways to mix it up and strip it down on the cheap. I've lurked here a bit, and like what I see so I figured I'd sign on...

Ive been lurking for a little while, so now time to start posting. I have always had race cars to build work on and race since I was 16 and never been without something to work on for very long. I like building and creating stuff.

So last race car was kept elsewhere (not in my garage / shop) so looked for a project and brought an old Corvette back to life from 20 years in a garage. It took me 5 years to do. Turned out pretty well. I haven't had a bike for awhile and after taking a small break, it's time to build a bike.

Posted on Craig's list and found a 89 Sportster, so this winters project it to cut the back off, hardtail it and try to make it a neat ride. Here it is as I purchased it, hopefully a good foundation for some hacking and welding.

When I get closer to the build, I'll start a progress thread.
