From Milwaukee, WI. Just picked up a KZ750 Twin that's been sitting since the late 80s. Pretty crusty. We'll see what develops out of this piece.

Hey all. New here. been trolling for a while but decided to sign up. current ride is a borrowed 09 vulcan 900. Currently trying to budget a build. Not sure of platform. would like a parallel twin but might do a v twin. I grew up racing dirtbikes and raised on japanese bikes but I have been drooling over triumphs as of late.

Into cafes and bobbers.

Hey Y'all. New to the cult.
I live near Columbus Ohio. I play guitar in "Black Mountain Creeper"
I have an 04 883/1200 conversion. I also have a 81 GS 550 L that I am working on.
This is a sweet site. I dig the bikes here. Glad I found this place.

I'm hardtailing my '[94 1200 right now. I am on the east side of the state. There are a few of us tha tare going top "stitch the mitt" this summer (lower pen. only), so we may be over in your area. We are going to take between 4 and 6 days to do it... just looking at places to crash and where we can grab good MI beer each night.

Hi, This is my first tear down build where everything will leave the frame, then less will go back on. I did modify a 2000 dyna WG last winter, rode it, then got the itch for a hardtail, sold it to a great guy in VA serving our country, and bought a '94 1200 Sporty. This is going to be a lane-splitting, death machine! But not just a bar hopper, I am going to ride the roads around the lower peninsula of Michigan (its called "stitching the mitt") this coming summer and hopefully make it down to the Horse's Smokeout East party.

New here from Lancaster/York PA. I'm into aged rusty and dirty bobbers/choppers which is tough when you live so close to the nation's biggest Harley factory and all you see on the road is dressers. Currently ride a stripped down/cut up 87 Honda Shadow which gets some confusing looks. Also working on a 72 XS650 that I bought as a stock roller. Plan on hardtailing it. Looking for some friends/events in the area that are into ratty kustoms rather than candy+chrome. I'm not bitter, just poor.

Awesome site, Thanks!

Just found the Intros thread and since I just signed up a day ago, might as well throw a hello in here. From what I have gathered in the short amount of time on this forum, there are quite a few knowledgeable folks on here and seem much more passionate than most other forums I have lurked on. Anyways, I ride a sporty, soon to be overhauled this winter and if I feel like I have something intelligent to say, I'll chime in! Looking forward to being a part of this community.

Hey chopcult Community Massive and Riders alike.
This is my "Introduction" to the Rider Community Culture, So "First Of All A Massive Heads Up Respect to all the OldSchoolers" in here, and im not talking only site admin electric shit, i mean more to the Real Oldschoolers that are nowhere near a computer and have ther einfluence in here more than your heavy blogger, hats off to the Oldschool much respect guys u make this all it is when the crunch becomes to crunched.
so aNy'Rowl.. Im a Kiwi male late 20`s, i have been struck by the mighty Pony Blade of Glory and there is no changing the effect that was done, i will have to post here my first pony o influence
Miss BSA Indian http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j37/astronaughty/5b761b0e.jpg this fine Horse stopped me in my tracks a few summers back and now i am married for life.
So just a little about me keepin it breif yeah! I have some amazing kiwi cru who design a lot fo engines and all sorts liek electrical installs marine or home or major industrial, my mate invented a hybrid electric power efficient engine at 15 years old... i.e yota prius, this will most likely never be disposed anyhow, i am also a friend of "PAUL Knight" pioneer of 3Phase aftermarket alternator coils etc, dont know how many know of him , however i know he traveleled the world modding harleys with his 3 Phase design. so thats a couple of my old mates, apart from that im just studying at unniversity and hussling, and i am taking all the amazing customs i see to inspire design and will make my best efforts to move these into the 3d architexture of a computer to model them to the closest mm to shape my dream road horse.
my main interests are Bsa Indians /old Harleys / old triumphs/ custom choppers.
many of you are so experienced its amazing and i cant wait to get started on my project, i have a friend who has an authentic indian chief with the sidecart passenger all original, hahha! so theres some nice stuff to get me started.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Im Sean from Shrewsbury PA. I've been into and around motorcycles since the early 80's when I got my first one, an OSSA Stiletto. I have a 1984 Honda Shadow Bobber Project currently and also am working on a bike for my Fiancee.

Tallahassee, FL here. Got turned on to this forum by one of the guys at Pirate4x4.

I'm 24 and just got done rebuilding my 2008 Honda CBR600RR after getting creamed by a truck, and can honestly say I'm now bored of it. I want a bike that has character, is kickstart, and fits my personality. I want a bike that can always use a little more lovin'. I also love fabricating, and have already picked up a couple ideas I can't wait to try (the brass etching and the homemade tail light is at the top of my list.)

So yeah, fuckers, here I am!

Never did the introduction thing but have been enjoying the site for awhile now.

So, I am a Westside resident and Long Beach worker, currently riding a hard tailed 58 pan-shovel. Sadly my daily driver may have just turned into my new project bike, the front cylinder head just bit the dust so out comes the motor. I've been saying that things would most likely change when the motor needed to come out so we'll see if that holds true since I am looking to make EDR in May.

..Guess I'll do my intro. I live in Houston and work at a hot rod shop here in Spring. Like to build shit in my spare time . I've been lurking around here for a while thought I'd post something. I worked at Flyrite for a while in the blossoming years. Bounced around at a few shops and ended up here. This board is renewing my love for all things two wheeled. Well back to lurking. I built this while I was there. I am not the model.

very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we’d make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum… it’s breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

If anybody feels they've heard this before, they are dead wrong.

Hey, I am Cat. Owner and Photographer of Rabid Magazine.

I have a love for bikes and cars and want to learn as much as I can so I can appreciate what I am shooting putting in the magazine.

Here is a review of the mag so far:

"RABID MAGAZINE is at the forefront in custom culture fashion, music, tattoos, hot-rods and art. As well as having a finger on the pulse of the events and movements surrounding an amazing and ever growing scene.

Cutting edge interviews, insightful looks at the musicians and artisans that shape and design the aesthetic that defines our specific and discerning tastes.... and of course some of the most beautiful art work of all... our one of kind "Rabid girls". Photographer Kat Attack, armed with an eye for what is truly sexy and provocative, and an innate ability to bring out the kind of seductive and enticing images that few have ever been able to evoke, has a connection with her subjects that seems to make them feel beautiful and wanting to give their all for the camera.

So if you're a hot-rod, rock n roll, chopped and channeled, ring tailed, ink freak with a love for everything punk rock to pin striped then Rabid Magazine has got the grease, ink and gams to knock you out of your boots!!!!! "

So Im super excited to be here and would love if anyone has any ideas for bikes to shoot and feature in the mag. Check it out!!

Whats up chop cult I’m 19 and looking for any knowledge, ideas, or exposure to the chop scene. Everyone calls me the Beave and i live about an hour north of Chicago. Where I’m from there is an extremely limited chopper scene, about 4 guys that are old enough to remember the 60’s and 70’s get together and get drunk and build once a week and I never miss a meeting. I ride a 09 sporty and try to cut, chop, and mod everything I can. I’ll be posting some pics soon and looking for any wisdom you guys are willing to share.

Names Cody, been lurking on here for a while finally and finally decided to post. Owed a small little shop in Abilene that did everything from service to full builds. Economy hit the shitter here, just couldnt keep it rollin. Put my attitude in the shitter as well, kinda stayed away from everything motorcycles, but this site and a few others have helped me shake the cobb webbs of life and get back in the 2 wheeled community. Anyway enough crying! Ill do my best not to ask stupid questions, but hey it will probably happen?

My name is Bud.
I rode street and some enduro when I was in my teens, life happens and I got away from it.
Back in it now, got a bone stock 96 sporty a couple of years ago, started with mild mods then ended up getting wrecked by an asshole in a cage.
Now I'm chopping the hell out of it and having a blast.

I'm Adam and I am stoked I found this new world of custom coolness.

One day When I'm a Big Boy, and when Uncle Sam lets me sit in one place long enough I want to build my very own two wheeled death trap. Until then I'll ride my dirty Road Queen until the Factory Chrome peels off.

If any of you guys are in the San Antonio area let me know I'll be there working for The Man for a few months and I'd like to find some people to scoot around with.

new MASShole. I have been riding for awhile and started modding my last harley and tinkeritis bit me hard. I had a super glide that last year I took it apart redid the tins and did lots of bolt on mods. I traded that bike in on a new one but want something to play around with. I got an 89 sporty that someone had got bored with. They had hardtailed it and put on a girder. Right now its not running and has quite a few issues to taken care of. I'm now teaching myself how to weld and gonna make as many things as I can. Hope to learn alot here on the sight.

Been building vintage mopeds for years (Puchs, Piagios, Mobys, etc.) Just dropped in to say hello...and look for a build thread soon (I hope) as soon as the bike goes under the knife.

im from Joliet illinois. right now im freezing my ass of waiting for spring. i have a few bikes. my first bike is my 2006 1200. bought it brand new did some minor shit to it but wasnt enough. so i torn her down and sent it out to led sled to do the hardtail. thats basically where is sits now. i love to beat the crap outta the bike, shes a fun realiable bike. my second bike is a 1949 pan-shovel. i got this bike off my old man. he built it in 1980 (4 years before i was born). i grew up watching him work on this bike. i absolutely love this bike, the style and the looks u get while riding it. its a bunch of old harley stuff put together, its a 49 pan lower end mid 60's heads, 55 straightleg frame, mid 60's tanks, 4 speed trans. shes kick only, foot clutch, jockey shift, and can be a royal pain in the ass when she doesnt want to start. the last bike i have at the moment is a 1982 suzuki 750, bought it as a stock runner with title for 400 bucks. so i chopped her up and stretched and hardtailed the frame, made everything from the motor back. the last one is a kawi 440 me and my brother built last winter.

I love riding around central Texas and I love meeting new people to ride with. Anything else anyone wants to know, just ask me!

Its been enjoyable to build but it dont really cut the mustard with 99% of the bikes Ive seen in here. But it has got the juices flowing to start another, but go all out on the next one. Im currently fabbin some new forwards and handlebars from what you see here. These ones were ok but I now know I can do much better. This forum is really cool and I look forward to learning as much as possible.

I've got 4 projects on the go; a streetfighter ZXR750 Kwak, a Kwak trike, a hardtail bobber Kwak 750 shafty and an old Kwak GT750 as my daily. Yeah, i'm in a Kwak phase currently!
Once i've got more than piles of bits to show you i'll post some pics.
Love this site, so much good info and inspiration. :clap for you:

When i'm rich and famous i'd like to build a semi-Swedish style Harley chop, but as a 20+ year old FXR will still run you the equivalent of $10,000 US over here it may have to wait a while...

I'm Dave and I have a motorcycle problem. To start off I'm 20 so I'm usually the "smart mouth punk" that thinks he knows everything, but most of the time I actually know a shit ton more than the old dumb asses. I have been riding since I was 5 years old so I've been around the scene for a minute. i raced motocross for a long time, but after I started college I had to give it up. I love all kinds of motorcycles, but my favorites are well thought out original customs. I have a dyna superglide that I've changed a little bit of shit around on. One day I hope to work for myself painting and building custom bikes

Anyway, I own a fabrication shop here in Kentucky. We mostly build off-road race trucks and road race cars, but I grew up in the motorcycle business at my dad's Honda dealership. I'm 31, and have been riding since I was 4. My current daily bike is a 1996 Ducati 900SS/SP, but I'm working on building my first custom, a hardtail bobber based on an XL1200. I'm working on a 1974 CB350F, it's sort of a hot rod/cafe bike. Yeah, no chop or bob yet... but who knows, I've got a handful of motorcycles waiting for me to start hackin' bits off as soon as the first projects done.

I guess that's all for now.

Hey there... Been lurking here for a while. Became a "member" several months ago but have yet to post anything. Figured I would start here. Names Judd. Live in Panama City, FL. 24. First bike was a hand-me-down 83 Honda Magna from dad. Got rid of that and got a 96xlh 883 last year. Besides taking shit off it, I have just been riding it until now. No, mechanical or electrical background. No friends to learn from. Just been tinkering and reading forums. Ready to get my hands dirty. Say hello if you are in the area.

Goin' to school here until the end of june, then hopin to build a bike. Only bike I've got right now is a Ninja 250 that I've had since I was 16, but I'm lookin to build a jap hardtail bobber when I get back. Livin here is killin me with the motorcycles, I swear there are more two wheeled toys on the road here than cars. But for now all I can do is cruise chop cult and learn as much as I can before I dive into my first build.:cheersmate:

That said, It's the first bike i've had in ten years or so. It's my first project bike for sure. I know squat about metal working or fabrication or motorcycle carbs for that matter. Could probably fill up a couple o pages on questions but this aint the forum for it.
I'm in Southern Utah now, where it has been cold and raining as of late but am moving to Boise in the next month or so, so if anyone knows some shitty dives to drink at let me know. I'm itchin; to get to work on the bike, but no sense in tearing it down only to loose parts in the move. Guess I'll just have to "settle" on puttin around town. Cheers.

Hope the pics worked. Nice How-To.

I like motorcycles, even have a couple. Got my wife's project bike, a '79 XS400 that ran when I got it. Then I fixed it and it didn't run for about a year and a half. Then it ran in the garage a few times and almost around the block, once. Now it's "fixed" again, and I haven't touched it. Need motivation.

Hello...
Name's Tyler, I'm in Anderson, SC. Recenty got a 72' Honda CB550 roller off a friend who was cleaning out floor space in his garage. It's gonna be a low budget first time build for me, as I've never owned a motorcycle 'til now. My end goal is to turn it into a barebones, hardtailed chopper. I'll get pics up when I can, and probably wind up asking a few questions here and there until I'm done with it. Overall, I'm looking foward to learning about bike building and metal fab, as well as anything else I wind up doing to it to get it roadworthy.

I'm new too. I have an '83 FLH motor and a late '60s ratchet top sitting next to and ever growing pile of parts. It's going to be short, low, and narrow. I've ridden, raced and wrenched on bikes for over 30 years and now it's time for me to build "My" bike. Not because it's cool. not because I need to make friends at bike night. I'm doing it because if I don't, my brain is going to rot out from obsessing about it and putting it off any longer.

Hi, here's my brief intro. I've been riding, wrenching and hotrodding for 40+ years. I've never really been into late model equipment and have always favored rigid classic choppers.

I've got two Harleys. One is a rigid long bike. Mid 70s Finch frame with a 74 Sporty for power. 18 & 19” Boranni wheels and Cerianni forks. At 56, my back hurts so I picked up a low mileage 99 twinkie Wide Glide last spring. I’ve built rigid 500 & 650 Triumphs and 750 Hondas in the past. Hated to see every one of em go, but sooner or later, they all do. I would love to have a stock, red and white 72 650 Yamaha some day.

My name is Josh. It looks like I'm getting my first bike here in the next week or 2, a '04 883 Sporty. I've never ridden...not even a dirt bike. Looking forward to it.

I am(or was) a millwright by trade. I started out in the Big 3, now I'm a fabricator in a prototype shop. Welding is really my passion. I also have my own business, which at this point is mainly an outlet for my metal sculptures. You can check it out here: http://www.browndogwelding.com/new/

The bike I'm getting is stock, but I've got some ideas for it. Kinda low, dark, stripped down. I'm sure I'll be picking some brains on here.

Hey everyone...48 PanMan here from the frozen north of Iowa. Last year I inherited my late fathers 48 Rigid Springer Chop. He built it when I was a young lad and it went through many iterations,,,but he still ran it every year. I brought it home April 2010 and ran around a little bit getting used to the bike, the long ass springer, and the mile high apes.

The "List"

SU Eliminator Carb
48 wishbone frame
Delkron cases
Aluminum Shovel? Mags
Electric and kick start
Original 4 speed
?? over 40's? Harley Springer
Primo primary and a primary cover I have never seen elsewhere
Fat Bobs
Bob Fender
Floorboards
Tall Apes for now (Going to 2 inch rise Drag bars)
Soon to have a Yamaha Raptor front master cyl.

Anyway...I will be asking a shit ton of questions trying to identify what the hell I have and trying to heep a 48 Pan running.

I was heavy into bikes back in the eighties, then family and stuff got in the way. Guess that's a common story. Anyway, I got back into old Hondas a few months back, and I'm glad I did. I started building an XL350 single thumper street tracker. Then I found out about the Ozark Mountain Scramble. It's a three day "road race" event. It's not really a race, but the course through the hills (about 180 miles per day) will be very challenging.

I decided to build a Honda CB350 like a vintage roadracer. I think it will handle pretty well. I'll try to put together some posts.

ALBeau
03-17-2011, 5:48 PM
Ive spent many long years on the road not as a biker but a professional metal drummer for bands touring the states from the east coast and the west. I use to race motocross when I was in my teens and early twenty's but didn't buy my first street bike until 2003. I got a anniversary edition HD 883 that I only kept two months before I decided it was just not enough bike for me. So I traded it in for a 2000 HD softail springer. I know it sounds like a broken record but watching Indian Larry on TV inspired me to start hacking on my own bike. Since then Ive built a little HD hardtail, Santee Frame with a evo motor, tank and front end off a 97 fatboy. Also a 07 Nightrain I converted into a Badboy bobber and a 08 Nightster I also turn into a custom I call the Springster. I will post pictures of them on here as I go along. I'm now building a 74 Honda 750 Four vintage chopper and of course I will post some photo's of where I'm at with it. I welcome any comments and advice with this one as I am not familiar with Jap bikes.

Stripper Down & Chopper up!

Hello everyone, my name is Robert and I'm building my first bike!

I'm 38, married with kids, I love cars and bikes (own a '70 Chevelle and an '08 Dyna). I'm here because I just took in a '67 Triumph 650 and need some education on it. I plan on building as much of it myself as possible. The bike belonged to my uncle who passed away in '08, his brother promised him he'd get it running and offer it to his son on his 18th birthday. My uncle asked if I'd be able to do it as he couldn't due to time and dollars. Of course I said yes, and here I am.

Here are a couple pics of what I'm dealing with, motor turns over and still has oil in it, and carbs are probably shot according to my uncle. At some point in it's life the frame was chopped, pic isn't the clearest, not sure if I can correct it myself as I think it will have more rake than I'm looking for. Wheels are pretty rusted, not sure how bad the brakes are and forks are pretty rough.

I look forward to learning as much as I can about this bike, first Triumph I've had and I'm not very familiar with it. If anyone can suggest good reading material I'd appreciate it, really need to get informed.

Anyway, on with the pics:

My name is Lindsey and I have a long history with hot rods and motorcycles. For years I was a driver for a custom hot rod builder and have spent countless hours on the back of a bike. In 2009 I bought my first two wheeled vehicle and over a year and a half the love of my life Mike and I built my bike together. I have a 1977 (the year I was born) Harley XLH custom hard tail. I tell people she looked like the Prince Purple rain bike when I got her. Any way I did my best with pennies and the absolute talent of my Man Mike, built the bike of my feasible dreams. From 2009 til current day I built the bike, learned to ride and have turned into a full fledged addict of my machine. I love my bike beyond words. I am here for one reason.. to try to meet other women that ride. I know lots of dudes. Many of whom I call my brothers however I would love to meet other chicks that love to ride. I can barely pry myself from my bike. I'm getting married next month to the most wonderful man. He is my best friend and my pit crew. I love riding with dudes but I think it would be a great treat to meet other women that LOVE to ride.

You can watch the chronicle of my bike build at the jockey journal. This site is more social so if I can snag one chick that would be up for a run I'd find it worth my while.

Hello everyone, I have been a lurker for a while and decided it was time to say hello.

I am currently working on my first ever build. I found a 71 Honda CL 350 on Craigslist this winter and am connecting a triumph hardtail to it, at least trying to. I have always had a love for two wheels, first bike was a Honda Z50R when I was about eight years old. Have had a lot of bikes since then, but the CL is my first one in about 6 years.

I have been searching for parts and inspiration and that brought me to Chop Cult, I have been very impressed with the talent of the people on here.

Hey, a bit about myself...

got my first bike last summer, honda rebel, embarrassing I know...Had to sell it to pay for school tuition this year, but the bike bug struck pretty hard.

I'm going to look at a bike I found on craigslist this afternoon, 1980 ironhead for $2000, runs, and looks in decent condition. Cheapest running harley I've seen online, and I've been checking everyday for the past 2 months. Any thoughts?

Whats up, I'm a new guy on here from North Carolina. I'm a tattoo artist and I ride motorcycles.
Been ridin' for about 5 years on the road, I'm on my 4th bobber project. This one is an '86 sportster. I built the exhaust, right hand jockey shift, struts, etc. myself from scrap parts and metal. It has a 4" under dna springer. 9" struts, a spoke off a 04-up harley, two tooth bigger rear sprocket and no front brakes. I also have a 21" spoke for the front with a speedmaster.I just gotta get some bearings to make it fit. swap meet this weekend, hope to pick up some new tins and other shit. good to be around more people like me.

Howdy, I thought I'd taken care of this shit awhile back ago, guess i didnt, cuz I didnt see it anywhere.
The names Will , and I'm in Oklahoma City ,Oklahoma , I bought this bike('69 Triumph Trident 750) a few months back, with hopes of being able to complete a few things, & getting it on the road. After bringing her home , I've done quiet a bit to her , but have ultimately decided to have her rebuilt by a local bike shop this winter ,provided i can rack up enough cash to do so. My readings of The Horse over the past 6 or 7 years , has provided me a shit ton of info about old trumpets,(tho maybe not Tridents ,.... I have TOL to thank for that) and from everything I gathered from my readings is when you get a 40 year old bike, you should have it rebuilt......from the sludge trap up ! , not just the top end. also checking gearbox.. So this is what I plan to have done, my goal is , to be in the long road to the smoke out , with her ,some day

Been in the shadows for a month or so ..thought it was time to join. Rode bikes growing up on the farm & thought it was out of my system.. introduced back to the scene by the inlaws and found out it was never gone, now time to build one of my own. Tech pages in this site are outstanding... so much knowledge to absorb. Definately gonna be here on a daily bases for advise to get my bike on the road as soon as possible..

Jason here. This place is great. ChopCult readers have inspired me to grab up an old sporty and start hacking away. No prior experience (which may be self-evident), but I've been riding for years. I've posted a few pics of my bastardo and the slow progress I've been making since August of last year. Not much extra cash on hand, so I'm doing it my way (which probably ain't the "right" way). This a great resource...keep choppin'! Cheers!

hello out there in motorcycle land. Im Jon from TEXAS, im new to this whole thing. just bought a 2009 kawasaki vulcan 500 to get around my small town and to save on some gas. always wanted a bike but, since im in college i settled for that for the time being while i stack parts for what i really want. "60's model Triumph Bonneville" all chopped and bobbed out. Dont plan on doing to much to my vulcan although sometimes i daydream about it. if anyone knows anything about mods on vulcans pass it my way, and im sure ill be bugging all of you for a time to come.

thanks, ride on.

Hello all,

Decided to join the chop cult nation... Just purchased a 95 Suzuki 650 Savage Thumper

I'm in the middle of an 85 FJ1100 streetfighter conversion as well.

Always wanted to chopper the hell out of a bike, and found this deal too hard to resist.

Any input on bad ass 650 improvements would be greatly apprciated.. looking for constructive critisism, sarcasm, and all around jack-assery..

hoping to make the cutl a new home..
