Hi there. I helped start and run this site. It sold in January of 2013. I no longer have any responsibilities here, other than to try and be a decent member and enjoy the site. I'm also a co-founder at Biltwell Inc where I pretend to work, but mostly I just screw around a lot. I have a motorcycle problem and am OK with it. Cheers!

Wassup everyone. Names Mike and I am from Sumter, SC. I have a little shop called JusCuzCustoms. I try my best to do all of my own work as much as I can. I am a pretty down to earth guy and don't mind unexpected company. Feel free to message or text me any time (803-236-0120). Right now I'm in the middle of building an 81 Honda CM400a. I am also fixing to start on two other projects. Glad to be here and hope to make some friends.

Same dude, different agenda. Most of my time on the new and improved ChopCult will be confined to lurking in the American and Brit bike forums, but I'll probably vent my spleen or write a bike feature from time to time.

Thanks to everyone who continues to contribute time and knowledge to the chopper SocNet that is still VERY near and dear to my heart.

Been lurking around for ages and finally decided to sign up. Recognise plenty of names from other forums I'm on. Look forward to having yet another place to kill time at work. My digger, the Pan, the Cone, and both Triumphs are long gone [sadly many left without being finished] and the Ironhead my buddy and I built is gone as soon as I find someone who wants it, but I've got a couple of XS's to keep me busy until I gather enough parts to start calling the pile in the corner a BT project.

blakeb- That's a nice looking scooter. What's that front drum off of?

02-07-2013, 12:03 AM
Hello from New Zealand. I've got a couple XS650's, and a shitload of old little Hondas..

02-07-2013, 3:41 PM
Hello from Minnesota. I have a Heritage Softail and a XS650 bobber. I'll throw some pics up later. Had I known about XS650's before, I probably wouldn't have ever bought my Hog!

02-07-2013, 4:41 PM

Morning all. Pete here from over the pond. Bought myself a Nightster last February, for most of my riding over the years I have always had sports bikes/streetfighters but since bagging the HD I wouldn't go back.

Usual mods, short shots, heavy breather, fuel pack, Biltwell zed/tracker bars, Joker speedo relocation, Joker headlight bracket, Progressive 11's, RSD Brace etc etc.

35894What up, Cult! I'm Ian and I live in Chicago. I've been riding bikes all my life, pretty much, starting with a mini bike for my 8th Bday. Rode a rocket for a few years. Had to have a '00 GSXR 750 once I turned 18. Got myself an '04 Night Train for my 25th Bday, 5 years ago, and can't get enough. No real mods to it yet, just love the hell out of riding it! Want new pipes and bars one of these days. New dad so riding a little less, but we get out. In any case... Ride Hard or Stay Home.

02-13-2013, 5:27 PM
My name is James. I live in Derby NY. Thats just south of Buffalo. Did some time in the USMC and Army over in Iraq/ Afghanistan. I had a 76FLH for a couple years but the wife sold it while I was being med retired out of service. Have an Evo rigid now and will post some pics when I figure it out.
I grew up in WNY but havent been here in 14 years. But I am back for now and am kind of pissed about the chop scene. It seems if you dont have a store bought harley and ride it 100 miles a season your not a biker. Whatever working on mine now and will show some pics even though its an evo engine.

02-14-2013, 2:13 PM
Been lurkin a while figured I'd post something so here's the obligatory intro

02-15-2013, 3:53 PM
Hey everyone, been lurking a while, finally decided to make an intro. Already learned a lot from this site. Right now Im a mechanic in training which means I can do a pretty goo job of tearing apart my wife's sporty and spend a long time and a lot of beer trying to figure out how to put it back together. CC has been very helpful in my adventures so thanks in advance because I will be doing a lot more learning than advice giving. Beers on me.

02-16-2013, 9:46 AM
New here, stumbled onto the place while tracking down info on the Burly Sportster Scrambler build.....which is pretty freakin' great. Among my bikes I have two Sportys, my '09 XR1200 (40,000 miles on it...my daily rider :)) and my '06 883R.

My current plan is to convert my 883R from it's current Cafe style to the Burly Scrambler style...Should be fun!

Anyway, this looks like a great site. I look forward to learning from y'all. I mainly hang out at www.xr1200ownersgroup.com .......

02-17-2013, 10:21 AM
I'm Ben. Love this place, finally joined.
Currently in Brooklyn NY but seriously considering moving back to Florida where I can afford a garage and can ride year round. This winter stuff blows.
I'm destroying a new 48 and I have no intention of ever stepping foot in a dealership. So if you guys are familiar with NY and know of a good Harley mechanic in case I get in over my head please share.

And now I will attempt to post a pic. Drum roll please......

02-17-2013, 10:24 AM

02-20-2013, 9:08 AM
Darrell from NE Tennessee. Finally shed enough bullshit from my life to afford another bike. The downside is that I'm over 50 which was a part of my decision that if I didn't get one now I never was. I'm pretty pumped about working on a bike again. Seems like you have a very cool community here and I hope I'll fit in.

02-20-2013, 12:49 PM

Jeff from Duluth MN here. I'm 19 and bought a 2012 Iron 883 Sporty last year brand new. Before that I owned a 76 KZ400 Kawi, but I could never get the carbs/ air leak figured out, so I sold it to a buddy of mine and made a down payment on the Iron. I've got future plans of building a Caf'e/ flat tracker out of a '74 Yamaha 175 Enduro. K, enough about me.

02-27-2013, 11:35 AM
Hey CC. This is Jack from Brooklyn. Been lurking for a while but figured it was worth it to join. Have a bunch of friends on here and spend a lot of time in the for sale section wishing I made more money. Along with a bunch of friends, I've helped organize the NYC vintage motorcycle show for the last 3 Augusts and am working on a seminar series in nyc with my friend Corinna (Miss1932). Hopefully see some of y'all around.

Anyways, not a "chopper" per se but definitely chopped to hell. Currently turning this 1980 Yamaha XT500 enduro

into this frankenthing

02-27-2013, 11:38 AM
And one of these days I'll own my own version of this

I'll add a bunch of pics where and when i can.

FNG from st.louis here. Had a sporty 48 and 3 xs650's until some d-bag stole/destroyed the 48. Sold the other shit soon after. Been lurking on here for a few years. Back in the market for a new chop. I enjoy warm socks straight from the dryer, head butting my dog into submission and relentlessly staring at my 3 kids.

03-06-2013, 9:26 AM
I've been lurking on here for a while, searching for answers to questions and such. Born and raised in NC. Lived in Seattle for a few years, and just moved back to NC a few weeks ago. Had to sell all my bikes before the move.
I'm picking up my first American bike this weekend. Can't wait to make it my own. Plan to pick up another project shortly after.
Anyway. I'm here.

What's up all. Dave here. I live in the Florida panhandle, Lynn Haven with my wife and dog.
I just joined the site. Love the fact that all makes and models are appreciated here.
Owner/operator of Redemption Cycling in P.C. We build custom, steel frame race bicycles, and hand made motorcycle parts(tail lights, seats, bars, pegs, etc). I also do custom paint and pinstriping.

Ride a bobbed Honda VLX every single day. Don't even own a car. I use my old lady's 4Runner for haulin' materials to the shop.

If anyone is coming for the Thunder Beach rally, spring or fall, hollar' at me and we'll cruise around. I'll show you the cool spots in town.

Chop 'em.

03-11-2013, 7:49 PM

I've been lurking for a few weeks and figured I should finally sign up. I found this site from the Biltwell Triumph build thread, it's given me lots of neat ideas for my Hinckley Triumph. I'm relatively new to the whole custom motorcycle scene, and this looks like a fun place to learn.

*resumes lurking*

03-13-2013, 9:02 AM
Whats up CC,
Been on here a few months now, but after signing up and doing a few days of lurking, I dove right into to the other forums skipping the intro shit, so what's up? I'm Justin from San Diego by way of Va Beach.
Left another forum after getting tired of hearing bitches whine about stupid shit or what windshield should they go with. After about a year on that I never really recieved too much good advice and never went on one ride with anyone from it. Since joining CC, I've met plenty of like minded fuckers, got plenty of good advice, tips, and inspiration, heard a few good stories, and had a couple good laughs. Keep up the good work assholes

03-13-2013, 10:23 AM

Hi all... Duane from Michigan here.

I bought my CB 550 bobber project off a guy at work who had a choice to either keep the bike or his very beautiful girlfriend. Not sure I would have made the same choice though.

Frame was already done as were the wheels and bars. The rest is my own.

Here it sits last weekend, I had just primed the mustang tank, fender and cover plate that holds the seat. Seat is out getting covered with leather.

I have about $1600 total into it now including a new dyna ignition and coils.

Hey guys, finally picked up my first bike(yeah, I know) the other day. A 2004 Sportster that started as an 883, but has since grown to a 1200. I don't know how to ride yet, but the deal was too good to pass up. I'll be cleaning it up and changing a few things until I take the riders course in a few weeks.

First time poster long time lurker. Rolling in Burlington Ontario. After owning a succession of progressively more quality vintage bikes from the most busted '83 XS chopper to a decent '78 CB750, I got out of the vintage game when a little human entered my life and swallowed the majority of my wrenching time in one fell swoop. Moved from vintage to a rubber mount sporty and now on to a 2000 Dyna Conv upon which I have mounted some fancy biltwell and local made hardware and have managed to restrain myself from building a thug style whatever. Hello world.

04-12-2013, 3:39 PM
Just want to say hello

04-13-2013, 2:56 PM
Hello everyone,
My names Brian thought I introduce myself here. I'm from Maine and currently the weather we have here isn't the greatest for riding yet so I hope it turns better soon. Ok happy I found this site as I'm sure I will find some much needed advice on my current project.

I managed to get my hands on a 1967 BSA chopper. This will be my first adventure with British motorcycles so I'm sure it will be interesting. I'm not new to riding as I over 45 years tinkering and riding. When I get a chance I will post the pics of this project in the British section here to share with everyone. Please feel free to pick apart my work at anytime, I do believe you can teach an old dog new tricks and I'm always looking for good advise.

04-13-2013, 8:58 PM
Not so new to bikes, but new here! Name is Scott; I go by Aced It on multiple other forums. I have an '03 Honda Shadow ACE VT750 that's not so chopped, more sledded. Bought it bone stock with some bolt-ons from a couple that was moving and had no where to store two bikes they had. I tore it down and made what you see below.

I do all my own work, from the body paint to the leather bags, floor boards, forward extension, painted white walls, etc ... with exception to the seat which I snagged from a shop that does work for Harley's. The pan was designed for a Sportster, but I fabbed a simple bracket and ta-da. I currently have a keyless ignition that I installed which was sponsored by Digital Guard Dawg. The video has not made it to their site yet, but that was the swap for the free system, haha! Cool product too.

From the beginning this was a budget build for me and I spent less than $800 to date, excluding new tires. I have a build thread from other forums and hope to get to posting it here. I am venturing on to another project bike, yet unknown as I have to find the right one. I'll be chopping the next one and really look forward to getting ideas from this awesome forum!!

Glad to be here, hope to learn and gain inspiration for future builds. Hope you can except a sled around here in bobberville. :D

what's up everybody? the name's josh and I live in west tennessee. my grandpa raced dirt track and supercross back in the 60-70s so I basically grew up around/been riding since not long after I learned to walk lol I enjoy fabricating/restoring anything...bikes, power wheels, anything with wheels. starting school for welding certification this fall, psyched. my current project is a 1978 Honda CB125. plan on making it a bare bones bike with custom seat/tank/ignition system and another few mods. I'm currently awaiting a few mechanical/electrical components so I'll keep you guys posted and take some pics within the next few days

Hey everyone, The names Matt. I ride an 03' wide glide as of right now and just ordered material for my first rigid build i'll be taking a stab at next month. We just had a fresh Layer of snow piled on us up here in MN, so i've been frequenting this amazing site just to get through the day. CC is full of amazing work, that I have MUCH respect for. Thanks and I hope you'll have me.

04-21-2013, 7:33 PM
Hey guys. Obviously new to the site, but not too new to bikes. I used to ride sportbikes, but just my '06 ZX14 to pay down some debt. My dad was nice enough to give me an '81 CB900 that hasn't ran in a few years. I'm going to get it running, taking shit off it, and see what I end up with. I only know enough to get myself in trouble and ask stupid questions. I'll be sure to search before asking. I'm posting from my phone, but will try and upload what I'm starting with. I realize the picture might be too big, but it's the best I can do for now.

Hey all, I've been perusing CC for quite awhile now and I am just about to start in on my first build! Picked up a "gently" used 79 cb750 and I'm roaring to get started. Going to do a brat style build. First picture is the bike as I got it, second is how she sits now.

04-23-2013, 11:09 AM
Sorry didn't mean to have the pictures sideways lol

04-23-2013, 11:48 AM
What's up guys! New to Harleys and recently bought a 2013 iron 883 and I've already slapped RSD clip ons and gauge relocation kit. Next is engine management and weld up a custom 2 into 1 exhaust. Going to make this a bobber style bike and going to do a 1250 conversion sometime next year.

Love all the inspiration and knowledge this site has.

Another new guy here. Been lurking for a while, but just got membership. I was originally reading through the forum looking for ideas for my fatboy, but after the dealer's mechanics and another independent shop both couldn't resolve an issue my bike was having I took it upon myself to fix it - found out that I really like getting my hands dirty.

I'm a total noob, but I like to bite off more that I should be able to chew, so I recently picked up a 1980 CB900c and a 1978 GS550e for $250 a piece. The GS550e is in bad shape (been sitting for 10+) years, but the Honda just had an electrical gremlin and I already got that sorted out so now I'm cleaning it up and working on modding it and making it run better.

Anyway... glad to be here finally.

05-01-2013, 7:03 PM
What's up people I'm new to this site. I've been riding all my life and I'm getting ready building my first bobber soon. This site will be a big help with the tech stuff.

05-02-2013, 1:02 AM
Another newbie here.

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Ca. Recently got myself an XS650 project, hoping to get riding soon. I'll throw up some photos eventually.

I love long walks on the beach, piña colada's and getting caught in the rain.

05-02-2013, 3:22 AM

Been lurking here for some time. Thought it was time I posted something... SOMETHING..

Ride a de-nuded part cafe'd Suzuki 1200 Bandit.

Building a Honda CL450 into a Brat.

05-02-2013, 7:07 AM
Hey, New weirdo here. I've been lurking CC for a while and decided I would make an account on the completion of my bike. Got a '76 XS650 and now I'm at the point where I'm trying to register her with just an MSO for the frame and a bill of sale for the motor. Trying to do it up here in KY while I'm here for a few months, if it doesn't happen I'll try down in Texas when I get there. Anyone have any suggestions to make this process easier?

Hello everybody , my name is Duane I come from the south coast of England and am currently riding a 75 xlh bobber.

What's up, names chris, new to chop cult. Been creeping on here for over three months now so I thought it was time to join! As of right now I've only built two bikes, Cb750 rigid and a Kawasaki KZ650 cafe. My current bike I'm building is a 1975 Harley Davidson sportster basket case and my buddies 1957 HD K-model. Looking forward to talking with everyone and hopefully making it to some CC events!

Hi. I'm Kevin. I ride a 99 softail and I'm working on a 74 sportster basket case.

Hi guys, Filip from Czech Republic, mother of the Pilsner beer here! I have been venturing this web for last three years and it was my big inspiration for my first build, honda zoomer-in US better known as honda ruckus.
In any case, the bike bug has bitten me hard so last year I bought my first serious bike, XL 883 rebored to 1200, 1996 which will be ripe for chopping in upcoming months so I am sure I will need your help and thoughts!

Hey All,

New to the Forum just picked up my first Harley 2013 Iron 883. I was always a sport bike guy but after hurting my back couldn't lean over the tank anymore. I know should have gotten a more comfortable bike but it's entry level and was in my price range. It's pretty comfortable too at least to my standards.

I do have a project in the works my father has a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650SR its a pretty rare bike we are both looking to restore it to it.s former glory. good thing is the paint is in perfect condition for its age no nicks or scratches just the chrome is shot to all hell... Bike runs great too... We cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, changed the oil and filter and the bike started right up after 18 years of sitting. Only has 6500 original miles and the OEM tires (No Flat Spots or Dry Rot) on it too... I will post a picture of it soon havent been down and the dad house in a couple of weeks.

New wrench turner w/a metric form Henderson NV here, I picked up an 82' v45 Magna on the cheap "$425 total" and I want to chop the crap out of it but first I must gut it, clean it and exorcise the demons out of it.
Hopefully in a few months I will have a running rat rod chop.

Found this site when I googled FXR images. I have a 94 FXRP windshield model, that still is mostly the same as when it was a cop bike in Sunrise FL, except she has been "souped up".
The guy I got her from said that with him and his wife the bike has 500+ pounds to carry so he built her for low to midrange torque. Still 80 inches with SE heads, 10 to 1 comp, 42 Mikuni, EV46 cam,
2into1 BUB, SE single fire, K&N filter.

Been on CC for awhile, but never posted. Figured its time. From central Mass. I've got an '87 Sporty project that has been on hold sitting in storage the last couple years. Finally got some garage space where i'm renting right now for the bike and tools so I'm hoping to plug away at this thing and get it going.

I'll try and post a build thread sometime soon with some more recent pictures and progress.

New guy outta Hamilton, Ontario. First year riding and loving it.

New guy checking in. Heard about the CC all over the place, figured I'd better get in here and connect with the two-wheeled world. I've run into members during my travels, and from what I've seen, great folks. Been living in WHYoming 7 years, riding something since I was a lad. Originally from Long Beach, CA. Spent a lot of time with my Granddad in the Mojave and Elsinore in the '70s watching him ride Bultaco and Hodaka dirt bikes (I still have his desert leathers). That's where the bug bit me. Wasn't until about 5 years ago I got into road bikes, and I haven't looked back. Absotively LOVE it, and have met some awesome people because of it. Currently on a High Noon that I haven't stopped tinkering on since I got it. There's several ground-up projects spread throughout my garage too.

See out there.

My name is Pawel. I've been hanging out on this site for a while now picked up some great tips from the people posting on here. After I went down last year and finally decided to get back onto 2 wheels I decided to pick up an older Shadow and decided to "modify" it. All I'm waiting for is my paint to come in then once the paint job is done before and after pics will be posted. Cheers.

Long time Rider / Builder. Started in the 70's with Bridgestone, Benelli and Honda CA's. Moved onto Suzuki GT's and GS's after college. Then spent some time with KZ's.

Kids and Career thinned the motorcycles until the late 90's and seriously started riding again. I rode daily up until Sept 2006 when my luck ran out. A Female cager crossed centerlane and my injuries were extensive with part of my right posterior leg lost to a barbed wire fence. The Moto Guzzi 500 was a complete loss.

Up until that time I'd finished restoring a couple motorcycles including a 1982 KZ1000R1 Eddie Lawson Replica (Yes a real one) and a 1979 GS1000 Wes Cooley replica.
I also had a few newer Motocycle being garage queens.
1999 Triumph Sprint ST
2001 Big Dog Pit Bull
2006 Paul Smart Ducati 1000
2007 BMW Boxer Cup
1999 Moto Guzzi Bassa
2004 Moto Guzzi Rossa Sport.
Sorry those were bought not built. Don't hold those against me.
My teenage son had also restored a couple smaller Suzuki's
1972 TS185 Sierra
1974 GT250 Hustler

A divorce/depression and injuries caused the liquidation of most of my sweethearts.
Now things are better and professionally I'm where I need to be. Building again.
Last year it was a 1980 XS850 named "XXXS" and Now "TurboMax"
My building style is different than others. Not sure how one would classify the bikes. Cafe Racer/Bobber/Bastard/Cheap? I do all my own work including powdercoating.

Pics of some lost beauties. I'll start a build thread of My current project.

Hello everyone. Getting familiar with the site as i heard this was a great resource. My current project is a chopped 1973 tx650 straight from the seventies that needs lots of work. I have been away from bikes for quite a few years now but the kid is bigger now and i thought it was about to get dirty again. I have owned xs650's and cb750's, stock and chopped. A virago. A chopped norton commando and a gl550 silverwing. I will post some pics as soon as i get more familiar here.

05-20-2013, 1:03 AM
Hey guys and gals, names Tim, love this site. Been really helpful so far. Hopefully ill learn enough from this place to be of some use to someone later. I found this really badass site to get wiring diagrams and service manuals for free. Here it is:http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=17788.0

Thanks I'm actually looking at a 1987 Magna now, just got to try to talk the guy down he's asking $2700 but from what I've looked up its worth is $1900 in pristine shape. It has a golf ball sized dent on tank and 22,000 original miles.

05-23-2013, 3:11 PM
Been on the forum for a bit, but never made a "hello" post. Ive owned a few old Japaneses bikes, but these are my first harleys.

I have a 05 FXSTC that I ride about 15k last year, from may till the snow falls. Its got the dreaded 05 Valve seals that are leaking, so Ill be tearing into that in a few weeks.

I do a lot of off roading, so while helping a buddy get his Jeep ready for the season, I looked over and saw a head tube poking out from under the rubble, I asked about it and found out that it was left by some one that the family had a falling out with, song and dance later and its in the back of my truck heading home. Its gonna need work, the cylinders are a little rusty and its been sitting for a loooong time. From what I can tell, its a 72 Iron head engine. +5 P&P girder front end, +2 top and down tube streched frame, believed to be a paugcho, but there are no markings on it at all. Looks like it was in the process of being turned into a chopper when it was put in storage.

Its not really chopped that much, the trees are just resting on the frame.

And how I found it:

Pretty excited to dig into this project, last time this bike was on the road (guessing by the sticker on the plate) was 1981

Looks to be alot of good information on this forum, Im sure Ill be using that search button soon!

See ya around! -Caleb

New guy here from Texas, I do all my own work, and can fab some pretty decent stuff. I've done alot of offroad work in the past, (buggys, rockcrawlers)

Was riding a ZX10, got old and tired of being hunched over, sold it and bought an 07 XLC, since I purchased it there's not a weekend that goes by I'm not doing something to it. Bar swap, riser swap, fender chop, easy stuff for now.

Currently looking for another one on the cheap to completely chop up. Thinking about raking the neck, slamming it to the ground, fat tire kit in the rear, wide glide trees with a fat boy front end, dropping the speedo in the tank, flat black, and a brushed stainless/aluminium look. Similar to a Mithchell bike.

Man this hobby is like catching VD, it's contagious, can get expensive, but dam I have a good time doing it.

05-24-2013, 9:20 AM
Just picked up a basket case 86 FXR, my cousin told me about the site. Man ia m glad he did, there is some really great info on here!

This is not my first bike, had a few different over the years. Softtail, Hardail Pan, and a Roadking. I am stoaked to build up this FXR! My favorite thus far for sure.

I look forward to the great advice, ball busting, tech info i am going to get.

Hey all, I'm Trad, and I'm new to the forums. Just wanted to say hey, introduce myself, and say thanks for having such a kick ass forum.

I'm gonna be posting some stuff about my SR build in the associated greasy dozen build thread, but I hope to hang out in other threads and maybe even contribute a little.

I wouldn't call myself a "Builder" by any stretch, but I have done some serious mods to a few of my bikes, and do all my own wrenching, etc etc.

So there it is - thanks for having me, and let's build some bikes!

New old guy here, my name is Scott, I currently have 3 bikes, a new street glide, a 04 Bourget pro street and a 75 Ironhead sporty, The sporty is what brings me here, I bought it in a box off craigslist for a couple hundred bucks a couple years ago, I built it in my basement over the winter and rode the hell out of it last summer, I'm thinking about maybe making some changes like maybe some apes and loosing the forward controls, what do you guys think?
Sorry, pic won't load, somethings wrong with my computer

05-29-2013, 3:18 PM
New here, buddy of mine just told me about the site the other day. Alot of knowledge here it appears.

Hey new guy here. My name's Will. Been lurking around here for awhile. I've always wanted a motorcycle and after riding dirtbikes in the desert for a few years, I decided it was time for a chopper in January. Bit of a change from the dirt, but I have an '80 XS650 Slimfab built chop. Owning the 650 has taught me alot about working on motorcycles. Looking into maybe building a Harley soon.

05-30-2013, 12:35 PM

Well everybody, guess its time to finally start posting. Been reading through the site and this is for sure the best I‘ve seen period. Great bunch of people who dont give a damn what you build, just how you do it. Since i like all kinds of bikes, cars, etc that works for me!

Anyway, I'm an aircraft electrician (USAF), married, couple kids, live in NE. If your on here and anywhere near Omaha- pm sometime.

I've had a couple bikes. Xl250 duel sport, 76 cb750, and currently 86 vs700. I drive a 76 280z most days, and my Superduty for fetching parts (and snow days:-) )

I'll start a thread for the intruder in the jap section. Not making a bobber, brat, or other bs. Just making it mine.

Thanks for having me. I already learned a ton. Hopefully i can help out others too.

G'Day Lads,

Another newbie !!

Am an Aussie living in Thailand... loving a heap of your bikes, some awseome chops that are given me a lot of evil thoughts.

Got an SR 400 at the moment that I been playing with but nothing serious like some of you guys.

Picked up an old CB 750 Boldor that Iam thinking of chopping into a Bobber style trike, time will tell though as time Iam short on due tolong work hours.

Anywho a few pics of me current ride.

Hello all, new to the forum and bikes in general. I've been around motorcycles since I was a kid but just decided I needed to buy one recently. I've been looking through the forums and see a lot of awesome chops, innovative ideas and common themes. In a world where being an individual is the clique, chopping out a bike on your own really defines customized.

06-02-2013, 9:42 AM
new guy from texas been riding on 2 wheels since i was 6, had my share of crotch rockets shit got old quick, recently bought a '13 sporty got tired of seeing everyone with the same bike and the same old goodies on it so decided to make it my own, went ahead and raked it to 45 degrees and stretched it about 3 inches, nothing major just didnt want to blend in with everyone else so here she is '13 iron with about 2500 miles on it, all work done in house..

^^^That bike is sick!!

Anyway, first post, names Dan, im from OR, currently riding a fairly stock '13 Iron 883.......Before this I had a pretty chopped/bobbed Honda Rebel 250....awesome bike but it was just a bit too small for me, even at 5"7.

I dont plan to go hardcore with the 883, but the plan is once its paid off find an old sporty on craigslist and then swap all the parts over to a ridgid frame with a rebuild in the process, figure it will be a cool project for me and my son, plus my Rebel I rebuilt from the ground up so I will have somewhat of an idea what I am doing, I hope.

Ive been lurking here for a while, some very very cool bikes and builds, I look foward to being here.

That is a damn nice bike! I can't wait to have the space to start chopping at mine!

06-03-2013, 5:39 PM
From Arkansas, been lurking for a few days and have already learned a lot. I currently have an 09 geezer glide (Electra standard) and an 85 Suzuki Madura 1200 that is getting ready to undergo some "reconstructive surgery".

I also have a few other chop ideas in mind. I travel for a living and am rarely home so work on anything will be painfully slow.

06-03-2013, 8:29 PM
New to bikes, but not to custom... and that's part of the reason it took me so long.

I hate stereotypes. Don't want the stereotypical Harley, or the stereotypical crotch rocket, I want something unique, and far removed from the dorky wannabe-Harley like so many of the stock jap bikes seem to want to be. Lead, don't follow, right?

I've got a pretty do-everything all-black KLR650 to ride around on while I tear apart my project bike - a Honda CM400 that I picked up gratefully cheap from a longtime buddy of mine who's also a chop cult member (who I used to go skateboarding with 20-25 years ago) who builds some rad high quality old-school style choppers.
For me, I'm picturing a cross between a brat and cafe bike in my head, and want it to be clean in the end. It's got comstars on it which I can paint and differentiate it from a cafe bike and I like the unique shape of the frame compared to the CB400.

Honestly, I'll be pissed at myself if I end up with something that really falls into any of those categories, but I'm open to dipping my brush in any palette of styles as long as they all work together.

Looking forward to learning... well, everything about bikes. Hopefully pick up some tips and tricks, and use my fabrication skills to get what's in my head actually rolling on the pavement.

Hi, Paul from Paso Robles here. I'm a service and repair plumber and when things got tough in '07 or so, I had to unload my Bonneville (along with most everything else I had that was worth $$ and didn't make me $$). Things are going much better with my personal economy, my business is growing and we're on top of the mortgage (we didn't lose it, even though we bought at the top of the market). :cheersmate: I thought now would be a great time to get back in the game and I've been cruising CL and the local areas for a cheap project. I found a '86 FLT about 30 minutes from me and drug it home. It needs some work for sure. Somebody cut the swingarm in half and lost the rear wheel in the process of triking it. It's also got all of it's FLT goofiness but I've got some vision and I think it'll come out cool. No good pictures of it yet but here's a few of my last few bikes.

'71 Bonneville

'73 CB750

I miss both of them but this ugly beast is my new mistress.

Hi everyone. Jonas from Sweden.

I bought a Honda Shadow 600 that I'm planning to turn into a bobber this summer. I started looking around for inspiration for this project a few months back. I saved all the nice bikes I found on a site, and now I have over 1300 pics of bobbers and café racers there.

Feel free to check it out here: Bobber (http://bobberinspiration.com) Inspiration

New to Chop Cult, been seeing' shit on here for months and finally took the plunge. My name is Will, I'm from Capitola, now in Palo Alto (both CA). I inherited my big brother's bike last year, been tore up over losing him since. I've been going through the bike for about a year now; limited time and greenbacks. It sat in the elements in ocean air for about 5 years and has needed a TON of work. The bike was built by Snotty Scotty at Coyote Cycles in Morgan Hill in 1997, registered as a SPCNS ( shut it!). It is a SICK fucking hot rod! Delkron cases, shovel cylinders, STD Panhead heads, 93", suicide shifted dry clutch 4 speed. I've ridden bikes since 1992, but I am learning to ride this one, little by little as I haven't gotten it quite "reliable" yet. Anyway, I'm kind of ramblin' on...looking forward to meeting up with like minded gear heads in my area, and getting/giving help to all others. See y'all around!

06-26-2013, 2:09 AM
Awesome! I've got lots of fam in Southampton! I'm hoping to visit someday. Ever hear of BSA? Hahahahahahahah!

06-26-2013, 5:20 AM
New here, from Kalamazoo Mi. I currently have two sportsters one is a 2004 and the other a 1972. I have done quite a bit of engine work to the 2004. Actualy Frank Romero (Crazyhorse) did all the machining and porting to the engine and put the recipe together, I just did the wrenching. The bike is fast as hell. The 1972 was Crazyhorses personal bike that I bought off him when he retired, thats a fast bike to a built buitifuly. The 2004 is currentlt for sale.

06-26-2013, 1:33 PM
new here (obviously) born and bred in the san francisco bay area, I'm in the military now stationed in San Diego when im not deployed.Just bought an 03 883 from a buddie, never built a bike before but I have built hot rods so this should be a good learning experience. I'll probably ask some dumb questions, but I've lurked this site and have been impressed with the amount of knowledge on here. Other than all that I enjoy the finer things in life, lik college girls, beer, tattoos and punk rock.

06-26-2013, 1:44 PM
Hey all, new bro here from Minnesota! I've been into the chopper scene for a few years but was recently able to acquire a horse for my own. Last summer to be exact. I own an '82 Suzuki GS650 bobber. Been wrenching on it all winter so I could do some great riding this summer. My next project will be an XS650. I hope to keep everyone posted with great pictures when I get something going!

06-27-2013, 5:53 AM
new guy here currently deployed to Afghanistan, based out of Ft. Bliss. I've got a 84 Shovel and a 75 ironhead. I've got more plans for the shovel once I get back with the bit of bonus money I got (gave uncle sam another 6 yrs...) and the ironhead is a project. Profile pic is a bit of painting I did my last deployment. Great forum with lots of good info!

New guy from Winston Salem, NC. My name is Joe. I've been interested in bikes for years and just bought my first bike a few weeks ago. 2005 Sportster 1200. Looking forward to learning everything I can about them and I hope to one day build a killer old school bike.

06-27-2013, 10:27 PM
Hey guys... Been a long time lurker on this site and just now finally decided to sign up. I'm a hot rod guy through and through and after the military started apprenticing at a hot rod shop. Been building a 29 Roadster and have always wanted a bike... Well, now since I'm building my roadster at the shop, figured I would build a bike at home to take up that time... I've done a lot of research thanks to this site and I think it's time to actually get to work. Look forward to receiving more help from all of you knowledgable guys on here.

06-28-2013, 8:01 PM
Hi I have been lurking for awhile. I am in the process of buying an 89 sportster. I have had multiple street bikes before this and switching to the cruisers. I have high hopes for the sportster and hoping to create a nice bobber. Thanks in advance for the knowledge I know I'll get.

06-28-2013, 8:11 PM
Hey I'm Greg. First post, doing the intro thing. Have Sportster Iron that I'm slowly starting to just now modify after having run close to 12,000 miles, brand new, stock, since last september, but also looking to do a hardtail build in the near future - maybe a rigid evo sporty, maybe an ironhead, maybe a shovel. Still doing lots of research.

Name's Chuck. I've messed around with Sportsters for a few years now, finally decided to go all in on starting with a hardtail frame build. Bought a house right before I deployed and since I got back my garage has been begging for a project. Picked up a '97 1200 with 22k miles on it for short money and have a frame on the way from Paughco. I'm stationed at Fort Lewis and live in Tacoma so if you're in the area drop a line.
