Hello All.

New member; but I've been stalking this site for a while. Love the vibe and builds here - some really sick shit!

Working on a build right now. Tying to make a VTX into something worthy of this wickedly retarded (read - awesome) site. Narrow bars, axed tank, hand shifter, mid-controls, etc.

Will put up some photos once it's presentable enough to deny the haters, LOL!

Out...

Hi.

After a couple decades of no bikes (wife and kids came first, knew the bikes will be back later on), I'm back!

Building a CB750 Chopper, with an All Souls frame (cuttin the plungers off soon: Goin true hard-tail).

My bike of choice back in the day was Dirt Bikes and Enduro's. I could probably still rebuild a 2 stroke in my dreams..... But it's time to get back on the road, and I've always wanted a home built chopper. Heck, I build my guitars outta parts (known as a partscaster), and it just makes sense to me, to build my bike outta parts.

Lookin forward to meetin ya all.

Stephen

hi,

new here, I'm 32 from England (actually from Portugal, but I live in England)...

hope I can find some advice on my first ever build, bought my 79 Ironhead a month or so ago, got all bolted on loosely to see what i'm working on and I think she has potential!

this is my first ever bike build, but Im alright with mechanics, metal fabrication and welding...

Ideas I have for her is:
trim the casings off
oil lines in copper or brass
and a few other things....

being new to a build I'm gonna need a lot of advice...that's where you guys come in!

here's a pic of her on my lift

and one of the engine, quite like the brass details...
the casings will be trimmed and thinking of getting different pipes..

I mean dudes.
New to this shit show.
I am from MN, I like motorcycles and old Mopars and art and stuff. I've been working on old bikes
forever. I do all my own work, from painting to engine building to frame mods etc. I work on old muscle cars and dirty early 80's Jap bike carburetors (it seems) for money. I have recently started painting bikes as well.
I have also (in the last couple of years) acquired a serious brit bike dysfunction.
Currently in some sort of state I have a 75 Shovel (had for 9 yrs), 3 SOHC CB750's, a 58 BSA Super Rocket (apart for rebuilding), 78 Bonneville (Stock), 72 Bonneville (complete rat), a 1953 BSA 500 A7 engine for my next chopper project, and a couple Japanese fixer uppers to turn for some cash.
Oh, and a wacky 61 Ironhead digger from the 70's I just spent all my money on.

Shovel as it sits now. Needing paint and Fender mount etc.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/100_1634.jpg

BSA before tear down.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/100_1172.jpg

Pure 70's, haven't got this running yet.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/100_1665.jpg

My wheelie machine.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/100_1531.jpg

Pre trip of my hard tailed SOHC CB750.

My bros Triumph.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/Bikes/Luthmers2.jpg

Just got this beauty. Going to be a scrambler. Also has a bitchin ARD mag. Runs real strong after
a few repairs.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/Bikes/100_1697.jpg

73 CB750.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/Bikes/74cbtank2.jpg

I can't wait to build a sweet little hardtail chopper using this.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/invisiblecouch/Bikes/a7-2.jpg

And my bros CB750 project.

I have more pics but I'm getting lazy and you're probably getting bored.

Gray, I'm close enough to Charlotte. I live in Rock Hill SC but play in a band called The Poontanglers based out of Charlotte so its my home away from home. I have 6 bikes that are up and running right now...all Hondas: cb500 bobber, cm450 bobber, 1965 s90 stock, 1968 cl450 stock, cb550 stock and I'm currently working on a cb750 amen savior frame, and restoring a stock 1970 ct90. I have a friend that owns a club in Charlotte called The Chop Shop. My cb500 bobber is sitting in the middle of his club. My 450 used to be there also but I picked it up a few weeks ago for The Revenge Run III. Had a great time.

hello from austin, texas...originally from detroit, been down here for 3 years.

started riding when i was a kid. my first real bike was an 80's honda enduro. from there, had a baby ninja, a mid-70's cb750, cl360, rode a pal's built 1200 evo sporty for a summer...

always wanted an old brit bike.

eventually saved up enough to buy a pal's '68 bonnie project. started from scratch, put all my time and money into it, spared no expense, all the goodies...sold it for a big loss when no one could figure out why it kept dropping a cylinder after it warmed up (found out years later it was a micro crack in one of the intake valve seats).

went without a bike for a few years, then picked up a '79 kz650. turned it into a mad max hooligan, rode the shit out of it, sold it for a profit a couple years later.

next was an rd350. same thing.

i guess i have a thing for little hi-revving twins. ended up with a '72 cb350 that i'm just about finished with. i've learned a ton about these little hondas, got a ton of parts stashed...

next project will be another 350 twin i'll hardtail and make into the bike i originally envisioned with the triumph. looking to build the frame from (nearly) scratch.

thanks for having me.

Lurker like the rest, but registered recently enough. Current ride is in the profile pic and garage its a 91 cb250 nighthawk. Current project/next bike a 81 KZ750.

This place eats up a good chunk of work hours in the day and I am a dam sight better for it.

Looking forward to running into other CC folks out on the road.

edit "holy crap I joined in August! forum dates will keep ya honest huh."

I stumbled across the Chop Cult a short time ago and figured this would be a good place to get answers I wouldn't necessarily find on other sites. I recently bought a new (for me) '96 XLH883 that I plan on making my own as time drags on. I'm very interested in going the hardtail route, but honestly don't know if my kidneys can take it. I was thinking about buying or making solid struts to replace the rear shocks and see how it feels, thinking this would be the best way to 'acquaint' myself with the feel of a solid rear (if there are better ways, please let me know)...anyway, I look forward to finding out all I can here...

hey folks,
noob-ish from NY here. i joined up like a year or so ago on suggestion from BCIronhead who i used to be in a band with, he'd been talking to me about bikes and stuff. been lurking/reading on and off in that time and got pretty sidetracked by picking up a '52 F-1 pickup that needed some help to get on the road. finally going for my Basic Rider Course this weekend and keeping an eye out for my first pair of wheels. i've got eyes for mid-late '70's japs, but have afriend trying to sell me an '84 sporty.

will be hanging around here alot more now. cheers.

Just bought my first bike, a suzuki marauder. Of course it does not run, what would be the fun in that? I am planning to remove the seized engine and replace it with an electric motor. I should be able to get a top speed of around 70 mph and a range of about 50 miles (if everything goes according to plan)
I will keep everyone posted on my progress as well as asking LOTS of questions.

Hey all. Name's Jimmi. Been watching around here a picking parts here and there. Just finished (for now) my build and thought I'd chuck a pic or two up here. I built the springer from the trees down after buying it as seriously screwed up stretch job on Ebay. Lots and lots of hours in the details. Will break it down for paint and polish after the Summer. Tank is BSA that I made the Panhead badges fit on by making a hammered aluminum backing plate. Anyways, here it is. Enjoy....

Danny here from NC. Been lurking the forum for a while. Figured I'd introduce myself all proper like. I tend to build a pile of junk every year and sell it before I fully get to enjoy it. I'm currently ripping parts off of my 89 sporty and riding the shit outta it. It will retain the swingarm at least through the rest of riding season. Come winter time though, and the sparks will be flying. Excited to be part of this forum. Later!:D

A good buddy of mine bought it after he got medically retired from the Army and then sold it to another Army buddy who owns a shop out there, so we're "keeping it in the family".

I'll tweak a few things here and there, but I dig it.

new from the Atlanta area...new to motorcycles, actually...just picked up a new HD sportster 72

haven't been on a bike since I dislocated my hip smashing up a friend's '74 BMW in 1996

been into the rockabilly and punk scene for years so I guess that's why I gravitated to this site and the kindof bikes most of you build

maybe one day I'll get off my ass and learn how to get something built on my own that I truly want, but in the meantime my bike works just fine for me...just gonna figure out some styling tips from hanging around here, with any luck

I'm a firefighter locally, so half the guys I know ride, but most of em are old and fat and ride electra glides with tassels and shit all over em and can't comprehend why I bought a "girls bike"

oh well

Just saying hello to everybody from Georgia USA. Riding a 2006 Saxon Black Crown, got over 105,000 miles on it and still love it as much as the day I bought it. I know every nut and bolt in it, but nope I didn't build it (my only regret). About to have my first cruiser back from my Dad (sold it to him a few years ago, and he just isn't able to ride anymore), so I will be starting my first chop once I get it back. Hello there, Kiddies!
Cheers from "hotter than Hell" Miami, Fl.
I've been creeping around this site for a bit now and finally decided to join up.
My current sled / work in progress is a stock 2008 XL 883 Custom that I finally grew the cojones to start working on. Changes are coming....
I love riding in fair weather, hot weather, cold weather(?), and yes even in the occasional torrential downpour (gotta love Florida). So if your in the great F.L.A. and need someone to cruise with, feel free to hit me up.
I'm happy to be here and I am looking forward to picking up some knowledge and skills while fraternizing with the bunch of you.

^ NIce to see another South FL member right away.

I'm in West Palm Beach, FL. Picked up my second bike, a 1997 Honda Shadow VLX 600, that I'm going to chop.. or.. bobb? I've had the bike for about a week, and my buddy who sold it to me already chopped it. So I'm picking up the build from there. I know next to nothing about motorcycles in terms of building or working on them. But I'm pretty excited to pick up a project that will be challenging for me. This also seems to be the only site for bobbers thats actually active. Looks like a great forum. Looking forward to more posts!

Hey all! My name is Dave, I am a millwright (industrial mechanic) and painter by trade. I have had a fascination with old cars, bobbers and fabrication since I was a little kid. Hoping to learn a whole lot off of this forum. When I get some time I will download some of my stuff. I haven't had a custom bike yet but I helped a buddy hardtail his. 68 triumph, mount a sporty tank on it and fabricate fender struts. I helped my uncle build a 78 fx shovel with an 8+ front end and I scalloped the tank (the metal way) I used to ride a Honda but would like to build a bobber from something.

Ive been a member of chop cult for a while now just never really went on and looked around. I know it says a place for guys and Im lacking a member to be considered a guy but fuck it, I like to do guy things and the world has a major lack in women who like to build bikes and get their hands dirty. So it looks like im stuck hanging with the guys, hahaha!
This is my second build, my first being last years build a 1976 Cb360 bobber. As of right now I have the Xs 's motor completely apart and Im just waiting on my piston rings to come in. so while ive been waiting I been on a polishing frenzy!! These pictures are pre X-country trip (tried making it to Ca before I lost compression on one side, hence the rebuild)....Ill post picture of my middle of summer rebuild as soon as I get them uploaded to a computer.

Figured I should post my shit at some point hahaha

My names Evan, I live in a small farm town north of Pittsburgh PA. there isnt shit to do here haha. Its quiet though and close enough to every where to have some fun. about a half hour east of the Ohio border, About a half hour if you haul ass into the city.

Ive been fucking up bikes for most of my life. Dirtbikes, some old jap bikes, what ever I can afford.
Im 19 now and I have a 9 month old son. Probly not the most kosher situation but I love every minute of it. The lil dude is absolutely hestirical and hes a damn blast to be around. It amazing how fast they grow haha.

I ride a 2001 V star 650 right now. Its for sure not what I want, but I got it off an old hippy kind of cat for 500 bucks. I kinda felt like i stole it haha. I stripped some shit off, put some shit on, jetted it and welded some pipes. Its not a radical chop but it deffinetly isnt stock. Its just kind of my own, ya dig?

Im not about stripping the fenders off and cutting the chrome and raking the front end. Shits just kind of gottin done as it needed too. Its not radical, but its what i got and it gets ridden more than any stock harley thats for sure.

So any ways, thats kind of me in a nutshell man. If anyones around my area and looking to ride just send me a message man! Im always down for a cruise. And if any of you make towards ohio, then ill catch you cats at the getdown!

later dudes

Hey Guys,

I've been creeping around here for a while and I've finally got some time to upload some pics and write this bio: A little about me, I'm Dan from Auburn, Oh. I finished my '75 CB750F Cafe last year and have been riding the shit out of it. This was my first bike build, Ive built a couple cars in the past but never had as much fun as I do with my Honda. I do fabrication and machining day to day for a little shop in Chardon. My most recent endeavor is Calculated Custom Metal Works, a small CNC plasma cutting business that I've been wanting to start for a decade now and at last have found the means to.
I write a fabrication blog calculatedcustom.blogspot.com related to the start up of my business as well as tips and tricks for home builders. This site seems to have a lot to offer and I plan on contributing to the Japanese and the Fabrication threads. Thanks for taking a look. Later!

Whats going on fellas? They call me Steve Beard, im hoping to get back to work on my ironhead rebuild soon. The accumulation of tools and projects has left me with no space in my 1 car garage right now. All the extra room I had is taken up by some items I picked up at a liquidation sale such as a Syncrowave 250, 12in lathe, and bridgeport mill that I decided to pull apart and restore.

Here is a pic of the garage before the lathe and teardown of the mill

A mock up pic after I picked up a ness springer from the 70's, I not entirely sure if I want to rake the frame yet or not. I have to see what it looks like when everything is installed. Im still on the hunt for a Invader for the front that will fit in between that springer.

Cool project man. I hope you have 3-phase power in your garage to spool up those machines.

Yes that is indeed a problem at my current shop...aka the garage. Im looking into getting 220 run to the garage and using a phase converter. The welder is currently set up to run on 480 I believe but can be set up to run off of 220.

Hi, my name is Frank. I bought this shovelhead in January. I worked on it until the race season started, then my focus (time and money) changed to my cars. I finally got tired of seeing it neglected in the corner of the shop and ordered some more stuff for it this week. I'm hoping that being a part of this forum will help keep me motivated to finish it.

How it looked when I got it.

This is pretty much what it looks like now, plus some Biltwell Tracker bars.

G'day folks,

New here, name's Troy. From western Sydney, Australia. Currently riding: '96 883 Sporty. Fuckin with it Monday to Friday. Tearin up miles on the weekends. Currently building: '71 BSA A65 powered bobber, hard tail frame, 35mm Sporty front end. On 4 wheels 54 International Pick Up waiting for a 360 Chrysler to go in and a Slant 6 powered Hambster. Keeps me busy in the shed.

Into tunes too. Rockabilly, Rock n Roll and bits and pieces of everything else decent.

Anyway nice to meet yas. Look forward to the mayhem.

Hello, from Thee Holy Salt Lake City. Can't wait to eventually sell my car and start up an old bonneville project. Don't have nearly the resources most of you do, but I plan on putting a lot of sweat and tears into it. Any advice on cost effective ways to build would be appreciated. Basically looking at taking a mechanics class at the local community college just to have access to equipment and such. Cheers

Been lurking around the forum for quite some time. Forum is a great source of info. I am a sheet metal fabricator by trade so having a motorcycle to tinker with due to my limited space just seemed to fit. For my project i went with a 67 Triumph T100r. Been a blast so far. Hopefully i can keep everyone posted with my project and pick up some pointers along the way

Hey everybody, my name is Mason Burke, im 20 years old, from Nova Scotia Canada. A little backround about my experience with bikes, got my first quad when I was just 4 years old, then 2 years later I got my first dirtbike and raced them at the local track up until i was about 16, then got into cars and chicks and stopped racing unfortuneately haha. Soon after I bought my first streetbike, a cbr 600rr (a dumb decision). I had that for a year or so then sold it and started riding my fathers bikes, he had a Shadow at the time, a 750 I believe (could be wrong) , then a bit more recently he picked up a Suzuki Boulavard m109, and I spent alot of time riding that. I now have alot of my skateboard friends riding bikes that they built so now I decided its time I get a real man's bike, and Im going to tackle my first build. I am currently across the country working in Alberta so I havent actually picked up a bike yet but im thinking it will be an XS650, and I expect to have alot of questions, thus here I am, joining the Chop Cult forum!

What's up everyone. My name is Dick...yeah DICK. Feel free to tell me to "not be a dick"...haha.
I have built a few bikes and I am currently building another. Funny thing is I have never gotten my bike license. I built a gs850 and didn't quite finish it before I traded it off when my baby was born. Then I finished a gs550 with a jockey shift and suicide clutch but never went and got my license and traded it off before spring rolled out. I have recently picked up a new project and made a lot of progress on it so far. Its a nighthawk 700. So far I stripped it down, added a cb650 tank , drag bars, custom seat, custom fender , stripped off all the gay shit and minimalized the wiring.
I love bikes and I have ridden dirt bikes since I was little so I am looking forward to getting in the wind.
Oh and my purpose for coming here is I am on TCU and its a good group of guys but I seen the revenge run video and I wondered if I for in better over here.

Hey,
Heres a bit of an intro: my name is Bruce, I live in Canada. My next project is my old XJ 650. Ive had this bike for nearly twenty years and it keeps sticking around. Its taken me all over and gone through an engine.

The XJ looked like a Prince fart when I got it, complete with monster Vetter fairing. That was fun until the radio broke and the speakers started to sound like frying bacon. Since then it has been slowly stripped down and altered. I figure it was time to class this little work horse up a bit.

While I was pulling out of the shed, my no numbers hardtail frame made an appearance. I stuffed it back under the tarps, next time, next time. Ill have to take a pic of the tank I got with that rolling pile of madness, its a peanut with a snake slithering through a skull.

Hey dudes I'm new to Chop Cult but not new to the the online motorcycling world.

I'm life long motorcyclist, a vet, opinionated, often sarcastic and an amateur everything. (that reads professional nothing I think)

I weld worst than I write but does not stop me from continuing to try both. I just rode From Columbus to California on this no front brake, no speedo, hard-tail 10 foot long XS650 because I was not sure I had paid enough chopper dues yet. LOL I like extremes and extreme people. I run http://www.oldbikebarn.com and dig hard on Jap Choppers, bobbers an Cafe Racers. Jap haters please don't bother. If it has 2 wheels and you ride and wrench on it it can be made on mars for all I care. I love all things with 2 wheels and a motor and own American, Japanese an European bikes.

I don't do much forum stuff anymore since Facebook ate my life... but once I met Bill and McGoo and I saw the code of conduct on Chop Cult included "don't be a douche" I had to join.

I know a little about a lot, but really I'm just a dude who loves bikes and parts so I'll see where I can help out a long the way.

Cheers -Bear (Screen name Eloso because some douche took my name first) LOL

We will see where the journey takes me, but thus site seems a lot cooler than some others out there.

Hey from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I used to work on drag cars, but bikes have my attention right now. I must have watched The Wild Angels too many times. I love the 60's/70's style bikes. I just bought an 84 XLX (it was what I could afford) and am in the process of modding it and getting it road worthy. EggertDeggert
08-07-2012, 8:10 PM
Hello from Mason, Michigan (just south of Lansing.) My chopping/customizing experience comes from growing up with a father and stepfather who both owned Sportsters and Shovelheads, working in my step-father's welding shop from the time i was a little kid until i graduated from college, and owning bikes since i was a toddler.

I bought a 883 Sportster, new, in 1997. Immediately did the 1200 conversion, and a couple years after that, raked the frame, installed 10" longer front tubes, lowered the rear end, and added a "hippie" sissy-bar and about 30 different handlebars! (I will try to attach a pic of the Sportster here.)

Since the time I was about 8, my Dad has owned a 72 SuperGlide...always LOVED that bike, riding alongside him for 25 years, and starting it for him often. (he was a little guy, and joked that he needed to find a fat girl to start his bike for him...turns out, i was usually the fat girl!). I painted my Sportster Orange, like his SuperGlide, and they looked very good going down the road together.

About 3 years ago, Dad was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease. He was a carpenter and worked with his hands, even after he retired (his hobby was the same as his job-lucky!), and it sucked to see him eventually lose the use of his hands, etc. A year before he died, he called me and told me to come over and take the SuperGlide home...it was mine, now...he wanted to be able to see me own it while he was still around....a very happy/sad day. So now, I ride is SuperGlide, and won't do much customizing on it, since I want to keep it exactly the way he was when he rode it. (SuperGlide pic is my profile pic.)

Anyway, I stumbled upon this sight when looking online on where to find a pair of red-lensed KD sunglasses. I have worn them for years, but always wanted a red pair. Found out that KD had discontinued making them (red lenses make green lights look weird.) Anyway, a member of this forum told someone else that he had a pair that he'd sell him, a year or 2 ago. I joined and sent him a PM, asking if he still had them (and if he'd sell them.) He did, and told me to just send him a few bucks for shipping...glasses were free. Holy Shit...very cool move/guy. Told me everyone needed to get something free sometimes, and that I'd probably be willing to help someone else out with something they needed. How often do you run across someone who thinks/behaves like that?

So anyway, Hi everyone! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the forums and get to "online know" some of you guys!

Kinda been lingering here for a bit. Been over at the JJ for a while. I'm from Northern CA but have been living in New Orleans for the past year. I gotta 1964 TR6SC which I rebuilt over the last 3 years. Of course it's a never ending process but it's definitely ride able. Couple of changes with it in the near future. Always on the quest to learn how things work so what better way than to build an old British bike.

Hello,

Been off a bike for 15 years and just one last February and I'm hooked again! I bought a 1100 V Star and love it, now I would love to build a chopper/bobber but not sure what type of bike to look for.
Cash is tight right now and I don't want to chop the V Star so I was leaning for a metric to chop.
I'm 50 years young and I have a ton of ideas to put into a bike I love getting my hands dirty and look forward to learn a lot from this forum!

Thanks to one and all

Hi all,
Noob on here, been on a couple other forums, they may have some good info, but they seem to be a bunch a whiny little bitches with sensitive feelings - not like any of the bikers I know.

I'm in Bakersfield, CA been off of bikes for almost 20 years due to family and crappy jobs. Now I have a good job and the youngest is off to college in the fall.

I currently have a 68 XLH Sportster thats chopped (Bought it in Jan) and a 70 Honda CL450 chopper(Bought it in Apr) . I kinda jumped in with both feet and surprised my OL. you'ld think after 20 years she should figger it out. When she bitched about the Sporty my Dad asked her "Why'd you marry a biker if you don't like Harleys?" She likes Harleys just not me on 'em. Oh well too bad, so sad. It's kind of in my blood. My dad rode a knuck to high school, my Grandpa had a flattie, and my Great Grandpa rode a J model that got sold at auction back in the '70s when we were still trying to save the farm.
Anyway the Sporty has title issues, :banghead:and I got the Honda off a friend that passed away shortly after I bought it:banghead:. Went to get plates last week and realized Rick never signed the title before he passed- title issues suck! Now I just need plates and the F150 can go in the back yard and the Camry can go in the garage until the OL needs to go somewhere.
Sorry for the long post but I'm at work on lunch and needed to vent. It was 109 today so I keep getting into 120+ degree trucks and I just want to go for a ride!!!!!!!!!

It's an 81 Iron Head that for now is full rigid. Been running it for three years now and this winter it's all coming apart to add a removable rear fender/seat and possibly a sidecar. I've got the side car built out of wood (easy to cut and screw together for pattern).

I know some people don't like the rat-bikes but like woman...if we all wanted the same one the world would be a rough place.

New here but not new to building, riding, and chopping.
I'm choppersprocket on TCU and Hondachopper.
I have a fairly well equipped machine/fabrication shop that supports motorcycle and drag racing both cars and bikes.
My daily driver is a '72 Honda CB836 chopper survivor from the mid 70s. I have a '78 CB750 also that I use for a test bed for new products.
Other projects on the table are: CB400A trike (for my wife), CB650 digger that's half finished, XS1100 needs some freshen up and a sidecar, and a twin motor dragbike using 2 SOHC Hondas @ 1064cc each.... with a blower.

Well, gotta get back to work. Need to clear some bikes (titled frames and motors) from US Customs so I can title and sell them. I'm towing them in a trailer behind my chopper! Best work truck ever!!!

Hey all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster here and I am still searching/saving up for my first bike. Thanks for having such a helpful and respectful forum! Most of the stuff I've seen here makes me really itch to get a bike, really learn to ride, then start modifying.

About me: Professional snowboard instructor in the winter, utilities locator in the summer. I've wrenched a bit on all the trucks I've owned doing routine maintenance and some simple modifications. I really want to get into more difficult/in-depth wrenching/modification and motorcycles inspire me to do so!

Thanks again for being around to help the new guys out!

Just checking in as asked to by the Owners/Admins. I'm a Triumph guy at heart and building up a 1965 650cc T120R Classic Rigid Bobber from the bottom up. The forums look great and I loved the basic rules I received in my first email. I really liked the fact of tell it like it is and call BS the BS it is but politely if possible. Here is a pic of my Project Bike. Looking forward to reading more of all of the great tech tips in the American and British Bike Sections.

It is not what you ride but that you ride that counts the most and no matter what you ride we are all brothers and sisters in the wind.

I have been on here for a while but never post, have been on/off the JJ for years. I am mostly into pre unit Triumphs. I like a lot of different bikes but also into v8 engines too. My shop specializes in Triumph engines, and I am am friends with a lot of people on here already.
As far as posting technical info I usually stop myself because sometimes my experience interferes with what other experts believe, so rather than get involved in an internet shouting match I will just log off.
I am also collecting parts to build a 1955 T100R, and a Triumph Grand Prix based 500cc to run at El Mirage and Bonneville.

Old, but new here. I've lurked here for a while, and have been meaning to sign up. I'm also one of the guys coming over from the JJ in case it gets too weird over there. I use the same name everywhere I go, JJ, The Horse Board, Brit Bike, even my eBay seller name, 'cept here they made me take the periods out. Normally M.O.Ther.

I started riding in the spring of '65 and started chopping the winter of '66-'66. Down below somewhere is a pic of me and my first Harley, a '48 EL. My first job in the motorcycle industry was as a BSA wrench, just before they started putting the oil in the frames. After that I've mostly been a parts guy, first at an indy shop and later at several Harley dealerships. My job went away when the economy tanked 3-4 years ago, so I collected unemployment for 99 weeks, then called myself retired.

For a guy my age, I have too many project bikes. I have a panhead, two shovelheads, several pre-unit Triumphs, several A65 BSAs, and a couple Matchless. I did the math the other day and figured that if I could finish one a year, then at the end I'd be trying to kickstart a freshly rebuilt but not yet tuned bike with 80 year old knees. I'll put a pic of the shovelhead I've been working on most recently below.

For riding, I have an '01 cop bagger that the OL likes 'cause it's cushy, and a mild custom Evo Sportster, that's a blast to ride around town. I sold my last "cool" non-project bike a while ago, a '37 U bobber. It and the sportster will be below as well.

And, I'l long winded. Partially because I do this from a computer, not a phone. Mostly... My dad used to tell me that if someone asked me for the time, I'd tell them how to build a watch. It's inate.

Hey Chop Cult! I'm Fred from Winnipeg Canada. I currently ride an 83 BMW R100RS built as a cafe. Lowered, murdered out, chopped down Dunstall mufflers, KLX 250 signals, Alpha electronic ignition, Harley XLCR tail. Avid Kawasaki KZ 1000 enthusiast and builder, currently building an 82 KZ 1000 ltd with 74 mm pistons, smooth bore mikunis, 410 cams and a 4:1. Lowered front end, 18 inch aluminum 40 spoke rear, mx style bars. Also on the list of shit to do is my 77 KZ 1000 street race bike, with YZF 600 swing arm and YZF 600 front end. Plans are APE bigblock 1395cc with agressive drag cams and mikuni 44's. Hope to learn lots from the chop gurus here, and provide advice where I can. Feel free to hit me up for tech help if needed, I know I will be asking and searching my share, so it's only fair I contribute back to fellow riders! Cheers!

Hi All,

I'm in England, half way between Manchester and Liverpool, got a Merch 131 engined drop seat softail (german HPU frame), couple of old Ducatis, while my 'work in progress' projects are a Moto Guzzi Cali Cafe Racer, a rigid evo chop with a 127 El Bruto motor and my latest money pit.. a 79 XL1000, the engineof which is going into a Norton featherbed rep frame. Keeps me busy.. oh and I have a half share in a drag bike too.

New to this site, but not to a few of the members I see reading through the posts. My mane is Lee, but I have went by the nickname Heretic for over 20 years, so I like to use it as a username whenever possible (bad memory, so it is about all I can remember)

I have been riding bikes since the late 80s. My first was a honda 550, when I was 15. Then a honda CB 750 SS, and I finally moved up to a chopped triumph when I was 18, and bought my first harley when I was 20. Been addicted every since
I spent about 17 years as a professional engine and race car builder. After my late wife passed away (she was 36 years old) I needed a change, and started messing with bikes professionally... Now I am a greasy bike mechanic, with a few machines hidden in the corner.
I have a great woman , who supports my "habits", a young daughter, who thinks bikes are cool, and a garage full of tools...everything a man could want

but I will always be a horsepower junkie

Greetings and salutations fellow Chop Cultists, this is my re intro. Kind of like an inmate being released back into society, I have returned to the beloved Chop Cult, though I was never actually away so to say. My real name is Will, and I'm in Oklahoma City. I am not new here, nor is this my first post. I've been here for a few years, though most of you know me as Starwolf. I'm just a poor boy, with limited tools, a crappy old motorcycle, and a dream. I currently ride and tinker, more tinkering than riding, a 1969 Triumph Trident 750cc (3 Cylinder) I honestly didn't really know what I was getting myself into some 3 years ago, with this damned old thing, but I've had no regrets. My dream is to be able to ride it wherever it decides to take me, someday. I am a firm believer that a guys motorcycle reflects his persona. I am most usually as mysterious, cantankerous and quirky, as my Trident is. So without further a due, here's some pic's of the damned ol' thing.

Well I'm back in the homeland.

Just got back from spending some time overseas in the military. About 6 years of it. First time back home, and I can say a lot has changed. Sometimes we all can say that things have changed for the worse. I'm done with the military, and got a two wheeler. I found Chop Cult from my dad telling me about this forum. So far it's been a fun time and prolly just get better from here. I found a job, unlike a lot of the veterans, poor bastards. It's sad all I got from them when I said I was separating was a bad knee, some shooting practice, survival skills, and a leatherman. Kinda sad they just drop you like a hot potato. You can say I miss it at times, but I damn sure don't miss being away from the family for those deployments. Hope to see you all in the forum. Glad to be here.

Cheers

howdy all from sunny SoCal. Been lurking for years but finally decided to join. I have been riding for almost 30 years. I have had many bikes and love them all, jap, Brit, HD, ect. I just lean towards anything older. Nothing wrong with the new stuff, just don't prefer it. I enjoy talking engine and oil instead of chrome and polish. I just sold my 77 FLH cause of money issues but I still have my 58FLH pan that was put together in my garage.

I deal in guns for work...build, repair, clean, ect. I did shoot competition for several years...mostly pistol and shotgun. Yes some of us in CA. Like/love guns too...there not just for Texas....or us in the gun community call "Free America" when it comes to guns. But at least we can ride 365 here!

I would like to ride with people with the same likes in San Diego. I normally ride alone but when I get to my destination I just don't feel like I fit in. I hope CC will change this. I'm sure I can learn quite a bit from builders here.

I tried to post pics....but it wouldn't take. I am not very technology literate.

Nice bikes man. Hope you stay at it and meet your build goals. I find it harder to stay focused on these things as I get older. (51)
I started building a 65 GTO straight axle Gasser about 5 years ago and I fizzled out on it.Plus no funds for the toys doesn't help. Time for a cheaper, easier build.

Yes those bulls are very heavy to hunt with, but Mauser actions are one of the best. 22 250 is a great Caliber also, shoots far and flat. If u live in DAGO I work at Duncans in San Marcos.

Hello ChopCulters,

I am Vic and I live in Manitowoc, WI.

I love Sportsters. I have a mildly bobbed 2004 XL and I also have a 1967 Ironhead that is raked, hardtailed and was pretty bad assed until I wrecked it 4 weeks ago.

I am currently laid up with a broken tibula and fibula. My first wreck in 8 years and 55,000 miles of riding. Oh well.

I like a lot of what I see here and hope to make some choppin' and ridin' friends. I am also on a few other forums and recognize some names here from those other places too. XLF, QCB, JJ. My various aliases...aliaii? are wagoneer, wagoneer12, and Vic. ha ha.

Hey all, I am excited to have found this site and will be ready to pick up some pointers. I have been tinkering on a 78 Suzuki GS 400 chop/bob. I used bare essentials for this, but think it is a fun little rig.

Hey I'm new to the 33, and new to Tucson and it would be cool to find some bros to ride with. I'm building a maxim, I'm a papered welder, I've got welders, grinders, a drill press, a torch and a fridge full of beers, wouldn't mind helping someone, riding or just kicking back.http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_madmxlgVo51qdgkn1o1_500.jpg,

My name's mike, I'm 17, and I'm from way down south in Houston, Texas (Californian at heart). I've been into bikes since I was about 7 years old when my dad bought a Honda Magna. It's been two wheelin ever since. I started riding motocross when I finally saved up enough for a 97 RM125 and learned a LOT of wrenching from it. Since then I've had 2 RM's and now have an 06RMZ250 that's modded out the ass. Yesterday I picked up a sweet 82 gs650e that I had originally planned to go the bobber route with, but am now committed to going cafe. I'm not planning to go TOO radical with it, but it's definitely going to be awesome.

Hey everyone! All my Google searches seemed to lead to this site, and im super stoked to have found it. Currently building a 2000 Sporty XLC! Have my David Bird hard tail on the way, along with a bunch of other little parts and pieces, so I will be in full build mode in the next couple weeks. Also have an old Honda XL100 that im chopping up and making into some kind of little boarder/tracker to putt around town on.

Thanks for having me!

I'm just getting around to doing his intro. My name is Josh and I'm from Springfield, IL. I currently have a panhead and a shovel. I've already met a few guys from this board. Looking forward to learning a thing or two. I have pics of my bikes uploaded to my profile page.

Greeetings! Dave from Melbourne Australia. I've been keen on bikes since I was 6 or so, start screamin' as soon as I'd see a Harley cruise by the car. It was either music or bikes in my teens, and music won out. Now I'm back to the bikes, startin' with a Honda VTR 250. I'm by no means mechanically minded, couldn't build a bike if I tried :P but fucken love the freedom of bikes, definately need to get on some long rides now that Summer is comin' in. Got eyes on a Triumph Speedmaster for my first "real" bike, then who knows after that. Anyway, glad to be on the forum, take it easy!

Yea here's my intro.

Names josh. I ride a 2000 sporty. Already ordered biltwell struts. Swapped a bigger tank on it and different air cleaner. Oh and drag pipes. But want to build 2 into 1 with a dump out on it. Something real short.
