View Full Version : When money permits..

Thought I'd share with everyone what I've been putting my spare change towards

'79 650. The add sounded like a great deal.... 'xs650 special, runner 600$'
when i showed up to check it out, the bike was under a pile of other bikes and junk.. two flat cracked tires, no engine in the bike, no seat.... I ended up finding the matching # motor in a pile of stuff, and he gave me a spare 650 engine to use for parts if needed.... he threw in the jawa/cz tank and some extras... 400 with og numbers and all the papers

this is the day i brought it all home

and this is where she'll be staying for now. as much as i wanted to do a king an queen, big sissy and taller bars, this tank sits nice and low and i want to use it, so its going to stay low.

I have a lot of ideas kickin' around in my head, and in a month or so I start a 5 month welding course. Hoping to make most of the things I want in class. Until then, ill keep planning

Looks like a damn fine start.

That looks a lot like a TC Bros hardtail?

09-23-2009, 11:37 AM
If it is their xs weld on looks way better than the cb one they sell.

Yup, its a TC bros hardtail section. There are a few things I don't love about it, but for the quality and price it's great.

what in particular are you not too keen on? I pretty happy with mine, It went straight on,no problems.

I dont like the bends on the top tubes of the tail. the look a bit 'wonky' to me..... ill describe it better when i piss out some makers mark

That tank is fuckin killer!! Looks nice on there.

i like tall 70's bikes too much!
did some drawings today of just the chasis to see what i liked the idea of most... i wanted to use that tank from my mock up pics, but, i might save it for something else.

10-14-2009, 7:35 PM
either way you go with it, its gonna look fucking killer...and the tank in the mock up is sick

10-14-2009, 7:45 PM
all three of your drawings would look killer, personally i would go with one of the top two.

10-14-2009, 7:51 PM
I like the bottom right one the best, and second best goes to top right.

10-14-2009, 8:27 PM
drawing #2 gets my vote....throw a 21 up front and you've got it.

10-14-2009, 9:42 PM
number one is bad ass. number 3 is too, also i will gladly take that tank of your hands

10-15-2009, 8:20 AM
Number 1. I too have a hard on for those sleaze machines. But number 2 is super super clean. Buy another. Build em both.

10-15-2009, 5:45 PM
I was going to go with #3, but it feels like a cop out to me for being to 'easy'
#2 is pretty much what im working towards. I like the king and queens, but most of the ones ive been finding have been way to wide for the rear fender, so im just doing the standard flat one with my own pan.

money just started coming in again, so this sound be a great winter

This beaut (http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/mcy/1418978138.html) is on craigslist here in Atlanta. I knew you'd appreciate it. I want it.

All three of those sketches look pretty bitchin, decisions decisions. Either way you go the bike will look really sweet.
